- Pekora heard that Moona had written a book about their friendship, so she decided to break into her house and read it. It was in English, but that didn't stop her.

Pekora: "She wasn't human and she lived on the moon."

I'm convinced this is why they're many versions of the same story, except we know what she read wrong lol
@@Dracopyre yeah, that's often the reason. Even with a perfect translation you can't always say certain words in certain languages or the wording might end up clunky directly translated.
@@CAMSLAYER13 true. But how far off her story was from Moona's was just hilarious. Imagine if no one told her what "goddess" meant

She’s not the one who’s off

I say, she's made a stellar improvement on both her understanding and speaking English. Her first sentence was "lapis gib me", and now she's able to make short and comprehensible sentences.

@@ayumhn yeah, in context it's kind of like saying "it was nice knowing you" while you're killing someone. This video's translator missed the って at the end of the sentence which was indicating its connection to the previous thought, i.e. she was talking about how she would hypothetically say that to Moona while killing her, not actually saying it right now.

Pekora is the embodiment of character development in hololive.
started with 0 level of English and she was so shy at the beginning, but look at her now, she has the courage now to read a novel about her and a romance with a partner all in english, truly one of the greatest character development I've ever seen.
WHILE!! Breaking into her Friend's house and hiding there just to read the book. And killing her several times during the journey.
Ah... What a great character development
Yep indeed, as well as Korone (in personality department for the most part tho)
You laterally can see the progress
Marine talks a lot about pekora's development since she's started. Her growth is pretty inspiring
Tbh, many of the hololive girl grew a shit tons compare to their debut.
Also making a big construction company while giving them tasks and passing a generous salary in return is far fetched persona compared to what she started with.
Pekora translated pretty well, she wasn't lying about the entire "There's no English word I can't read" part
confususesusedo

Yeah she wasn't really lying. A few weeks and she'll understand better if she's studying.
She can read them. Now we got to work on understanding them XD I'm sad she didn't understand the insurance joke.

Well, she didn't lied, she can read it pretty well.

Nani ttenda kore
Tbf, there was a pretty confusing error at the start of the book from Moona.
@@Elmithian lol yeah I completely understood it but it’s quite deep and you’d have to know a lot about English to understand, after all it’s saying that essentially she’s a completely normal human with nothing that stands out besides having a blessing from the moon. But instead I guess if you don’t know enough about English you’d probably think that means she’s a human born on the moon or something.
BRRRRRRRAAAKA MONO GAAAAA

I can’t believe I have more investment in Moona and Pekoras friendship than I’ve had for any anime and TV show I’ve seen in the past few years. Well I guess since they’re technically real it makes sense to be more invested in them.
IKR. At this point most anime felt bland to me other than the pure comedy and action ones
We are now even getting the love triangle with aqua.
hololive is a better anime than most anime out there now
Can't wait for Sport Festival Arc in Mid November
Plus it's about the rabbit and the moon which is a common story in Japan
Moona: We violated ethics and morals.
Pekora: Oh, I see, you were deeply moved!
In all seriousness, the amount that Pekora correctly translated was impressive, but I was very amused by the parts that she mistranslated, since her mistakes painted her in a more positive light.
"I don't see the word [devil] but she's probably a devil." lol how did that even came to her mind
In most Asian cultures, there is little difference between a demon and a god - the only difference is that the god is actually responsible for something. So translating "goddess" as "devil" isn't actually too far of a guess
maybe she read goddess as "God-Death"
@@contramuffin5814 so Gods get up and do shit while demons sit on their asses all day and don't even do their paperwork?
*Edit* I am getting way to into Corporate-core shit. "Don't even do their paperwork" what?
@@windshipping japanese pronounce death as dess/ dessu (I heard this pronounce from some anime, but i guess the way they pronounce not too far right?) so she thought goddess is god-death (death god/ god of death/ devil) i guess
@@giratius9307 I think it’s more likely that she just thought the word for demon/devil was a modified version of the word “God”, so the “dess” suffix makes it mean “Devil”. Plus I’m sure she’s read the word “death” before and would be able to recognize it.
On the one hand, its amazing how she gets almost the complete opposite meaning from some stuff.
On the other, her english is way way better than my japanese so who am I to judge.
Hey man, if it's any consolation, criticizing something and doing that same thing yourself takes different skills.
I doubt most professional movie critics would make for good directors for example
I think some of that was either jokes or pretending that it meant what she wanted it to mean.
My English is much better than hers, so I can judge.
This is a joke, please don't take it seriously. (Even though it's true)

Heyyy ive seen this somewhere
The end of the clip got me..
Yeah that was great 😂
Lol. Got trapped for stalking. 😂
She's really doing her best... and I must say, I'm impressed her vocabulary is actually pretty wide; she seems to know some difficult words like 'handmade'
"handmade" is easily guessable because the base words are pretty simple. I'm actually surprised she got the Latin-derived words, like "requested" or "collaborate"
@@contramuffin5814 collaborate is probably known from the "collab" that the Holo girls do with each other
I'm surprised how confident she is when translating this to the jp bros lol
She gets the context mostly right.
@@contramuffin5814 i would agree, but the reasons i think she'd know about it is cause of her work. I think Collab and Request are both pretty common in their industry.
It's basically the same as the japanese word which is Tedzukuri which means Te (Hand) and Tsukuri (Make). it should be a pretty easy translate for our rabbit :)
I love how she fakes a normal laugh then explodes with her real laugh

@@winnkey haha the story involving moons and rabbits is definitely very prevalent in Asia across many cultures for years, which is why many people have noted their friendship to be almost fate and surprised to see how well they get along too, considering their own introverted personalities

honestly, i think pekora English skill really growing at fast pace. she is a hard worker
There's something immensely poetic and heartwarming about Pekora, who chanced an encounter with Moona and pushed herself to learn better English, now reading a story written by Moona in English, about how glad she is that they became friends and how much Pekora's gift and friendship means to her. And Pekora is trying her hardest to understand and translate it, and she (largely) does! It's really too perfect.
This might be the most teetee moment I've witnessed in hololive. OkaKoro is high-grade teetee, but it's also kind of effortless? It comes naturally to them. Pekora really worked hard for it, and it's clear Moona appreciates it. (though never too teetee for pranks!)
