- I get the comment "is it BL or bromance?" quite a lot. My answer is, officially it is bromance but if you watch the drama, it is obvious they are more than that. The drama shows that part of a relationship that is between meeting each other, falling in love and starting to date, if you will. I can't recommend these two enough. Such a loyal, loving and supporting otp.
My first fmv! :) The ending is a mess but after working on the last seconds for hours straight, I couldn't do better. Sorry.

no kissing, no sex scenes, no explicit love confessions due to china's censorship, and yet they managed to stay true to the novel and keep this drama as the love story it is. it's really, really rare to see such great storytelling. this is true romance, not that superficial bs you see 99% of the time

I actually like the series more than the novel, because there isn't any sexual stuff. In the series you can still feel the love. Love isn't only about sex. The series doesn't show their attraction for each other bodies or gender, but in the personality. They love each other no matter what and it isn't about sex. It's so beautiful and I always start crying while thinking about that. I love them!!!!:3
They didn't kiss ONCE in the whole damn show (yes I know why) but you could feel the love and admiration they have for each other and it absolutely beautiful! I love The Untamed so much and I miss it!

I love the fact that when Wei Ying was at his most powerful and people envied him Lan Zhan was the only one worried and against it and then when Wei Ying was at his weakest and the whole world against him, Lnn Zhan was the only one there to support and cherish him
The Untamed was supposed to be a summer memory, it's December, it's fucking cold and I am still crying over the best men and the best love story ever.

I have some questions, I'm new to C-dramas and I want to read the Untamed Novel.
1) If Wei Wixuan is apart of the Jiang clan then why is he at Cloud Reeces and not at his own home?
2) Why doesn't Wei Wixuan wear the same robes as the Jian clan if he is apart of it?
3) What exactly is Cultivation
@@sagetucker5558 idk if my answer will be accurate but this is what I personally know from what I've gathered , 1- they go to cloud recesses in the first half bc cloud recesses has invited young disciples from all these clans to educate them or give them classes on right techniques of cultivation and upright behaviour just like later wen clan does later on but for devious hostage reasons as well ,
2- Wei ying probably doesn't wear the same colours bc he is after all adopted and is also a rebel at heart lol maybe also bc of madam Jiang he wants to maintain a boundary by not wearing the same clothes, but it can be noticed that after burning of lotus pier he wears the purple Jiang belt to commemorate the clan's death, 3- It's a fictional thing ofcourse, using inner chi or power and cultivating it within to maximize your golden core through vigorous training , if you have watched anime like Hunter X Hunter it's similar to nen power , and in contrast to spiritual chi there is demonic cultivation, using resentful/negative energy of the dead and directing that energy according to your will
Considering what Wei Wuxian had gone through, it was so sad for me to see those scenes. Many people appreciated him but the people who truly loved him were really few, and he lost most of them. Lan zhan was the only one who stayed. He was indeed a true soulmate. And yes, he was enough
So true. He lost so many people, it's insane if you think about it: first, his blood parents, then his adoptive parents, then his found family (the Wens), and then his brother-in-law and his sister, not to mention all the people who he thought he lost as a result of those deaths. Plus the whole cultivation world was against him. It would break even the strongest person, and WWX is one of the most resilient people out there. One more reason to love this boy/man even more, he deserves all the love.
@@Aquariuspeg I know, to see such bubbly and free spirited person change throughout the series broke my heart. As the episodes went by he started smiling less, it was so sad.
@@user-vl4ds9wq9j Gosh, yes. Because of that it was even more heartwrenching to see him pretend to be his old self until he couldn't any more. All this pain and suffering finally came to the surface and still just a handful of people cared (the Wens, Yanli, Lan Zhan). Even now it makes me tear up just thinking about it...

This is an actual masterpiece. This is the first time I've watched a Chinese drama, and this is honestly so much better than most Western movies. And yet people say that shitty movies like "After" show true love. This drama (and novel) conveys so much more than numerous well-known books, more people should know about it. I hope that someday I find a book that will live up to this standard.

Honestly those superficial romance books and movies can never compare to The Untamed, Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian's love goes beyond mortal realm, even death couldn't keep them apart, its a love that comes once in a lifetime, a love so profound and soul deep, just thinking about it makes me emotional🤧❤

Six months ago this was the first edit I saw about them and also my favorite. I didn't believe in "The Untamed Syndrome" I heard so much about, but now I can't turn this page. Actually I don't want to get over it, because it wasn't just a series, but an experience that taught me that love is in the smallest details. Although it says ongoing the translation is actually finished. Thats the whole story, they probably just have a few extras they haven't translated or uploaded. This site is really well versed in eng trans as well, so grammatically it's an easy as well as understandable read.

The movie did not have extra "purpose romantic scenes" but we still can feel the romantic and the love by the look at each other between Lan Zhan and Wei Ying. We feel the love, the care and painful of Lan Zhan for waiting 16 years by just the way he stood next to Wei Ying.

i like the writers were literally playing with fire. they made the couple stand at the line and walk it like a tightrope, smudging it but not so obviously that the censorship know they've crossed the line. in the end one doesn't need namjoons iq to understand that even after all these indirect clues.

This is just an adaptation, I haven't really watched it yet, but the anime is officially a danmei, a bl love story. i'm guessing it's because of censorship that they dont officially make the adaptation bl. but it is a love story, and i think the anime does it much better justice. go watch it the name is "Mo Dao Zu Shi". it's really funny how there's not a single kiss or sex scene of any sort in it and yet it delivers one of the most powerful bl drama's of all time. This story made me cry and i RARELY get that kind of feeling when im watching bl.

@@officialsummyc It's open-ended in the sense that you don't get to SEE them, like, get married and bang each other day and night (like in the novel), but if you think about a little I think most viewers would agree it was a happy ending and we can assume that they did get together. It's hard to explain but when you watch it you'll see.

i’m honestly still in awe after finishing this a few days ago bc .. i haven’t seen such a well written love story on film maybe.. ever? especially one embedded in such an incredible epic. their chemistry; wang yibo’s micro expressions and the intensity of his acting no matter how subtle; the way they communicate their growing love for each other, the pain in lz’s face and voice when wwx drops off the cliff - the moments of humour; the hope and joy in lan zhan’s face when wwx returns; the fierceness with which lz protects wwx; the smiles and laughter and freedom you see running wild in wwx when he’s with lz - the agony of him losing his mind and the love of his life, too; all of it is just woven in a way that i think you can only fully appreciate once you’ve digested and stepped away from it, and i’m so grateful i found it

Without a single romantic scene,The Untamed still managed to show ppl that they have attraction for each other,this shows how well and awesome the storytelling was, it also teached me alot,i feel like WY and LZ reached the “higher level” of “love” , just looking in each other’s eyes and already understand, i saw this true and funny quote “Who the heck is crazy enough to wait for a stranger for years without knowing anything about their lives?” Yes ,only people who love or are relatives in family can do that, they are “Soul-Mate” .
This is why The Untamed is unforgettable and memorable after YEARS, the unique story and awesome actors ,this also marked the beginning of a successful career for almost every actors appeared in the movie ESPECIALLY Yibo and Xiao Zhan ! 👍👍

I read the novel in like 4 days after watching CQL and kept being surprised at how many scenes were exactly the same in the drama. they did such a great job with this adaptation. there's no way you can watch this and not know they're in love lmao. censorship who?

@@dbrown9385I watched CQL first, and I think it helped me a lot in remembering all the characters and understanding the timeline; also getting the full version of the story after the censored one probably feels more gratifying than the other way around. But there are people who recommend reading the novel first... idk xD

Eventhough everyone say that Lan Zhan waited for Wei ying 13 years but how can you say he waited? He knew he wouldn't come back from the death cause he choose it for himself. Lan zhan inquired just to know if his wei ying is finally at peace or not. Maybe he wanted to confess. More than waiting he did was longing for his love. He regretted his every memory that he didn't stand beside wei ying. He was punishing himself for not trusting his soulmate.
Every time I watch these videos and it brings me back to The untamed I have to admire Wang Yibo as Lan Zhan.❤ Not that others wouldn't be also good, but Yibo is in this drama absolutely devine, and it is also because of the costume. He is like big diamond among amethysts (Zhan is of course at least emerald😁). He managed to portray the uniquenes of Lan Zhan's character and his purity and perfection, which are almost on the level of otherworldliness. This was easily absolute masterpiece. 🙏🙏🙏
