hii friends! I hope you're enjoying the video :)) I'm going to answer a few questions that are coming up a lot here: 1) even though I'm living off campus, I can still eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day in any dining hall on campus if I want to! there are various meal plan options available for off-campus students, and I'm currently on the pay-as-you-go type plan which is working well for me. but I do love cooking, being in the kitchen, and making most of my own meals - this was one of the reasons I wanted to live off campus (and it's going great)! 2) I'm majoring in psychology. this means I have to take a certain number of different psych courses and will be doing a big thesis / research project for psych in my senior year. outside of these requirements, I can take courses in other subject areas. so I'm getting a bachelor's degree in psychology through a liberal arts model of education (which is the education model used at yale college) 3) australian coffee is SO much better hahaha
Your sister will notice a big difference at Oxford, compared to Yale. She’ll be studying just things relevant to her degree from day 1 instead of choosing lots of different courses and then specialising towards the end 😊
@@clairep8225 yes definitely!! this is why we ended up at quite different universities :)) she knew exactly what she wanted to study, so she preferred to get straight in and do that from day 1. I had no idea what I wanted to study, so I needed some time to explore before I specialised!
Best wishes for your year, Tia. Greetings from country Victoria. Regarding buying concert tickets online - yes, it is stressful. The last time i did it in 2017, I was booted from the queue moments before buying and had to start again. It can be a very frustrating experience but ultimately I got them and it was a great show - I hope yours is as well.
Never going to get over the scale of Yale, lived in Connecticut my whole life and the campus is just larger than life itself ( never seen it upclose, but everyone knows it takes up most of the area. )
Tia I love watching your vlogs because I’m looking at condos in my area so for that thanks for the helpful ideas. I do have one question if you have a tv what size did you get because the condos I’m looking for is somewhat the same size that you have. Again I love seeing your videos
Its honestly so interesting for me to watch videos of university students in different countries (I'm not from or in the US) and see how their education system works. For example: My longest class is 2 hours, but regular classes are 50 minutes Our general degrees are 3 years instead of 4 Our grading system is entirely different. A 4.0 gpa is not the top mark we can achieve since our credit system works differently. We don't get As or Bs, instead we get distinctions and cum laude, and to get a distinction its 75%, and Cum Laude is 85% 🤡 And our class credit system is so different too. I assume a single module is 1 credit, but for us they can be anywhere from 8 to 24 credits. In my first year I had 120 credits from 8 modules, my second year I had 128 credits from 12 modules, and now in my final year I have 136 credits from 10 modules. Our majoring system works differently too I think. For instance, I'm also a psychology major, but its not my only major. I'm a triple major in Psychology, Sociology, and English, with a minor in Philosophy. Furthermore, we don't have sororities or houses, we have residences (dorms I suppose) and PSOs (private student organizations - which are comprised of students who do not use university accommodation, but rather private accommodation, so we can compete against the residences) Its just so interesting to me 🤣
I was exhausted just watching this video and all the things that you were doing. I love your apartment, looks very cute. Are there other Yale students living in the same building? Great video. All the best for your classes this semester.
My daughter is going to the US next year but how did you choose what laptop you might need and did you buy one when you got there or whilst you were still in Australia?
There are plenty of UA-cam videos and documentarys of the French revelution and European history if that could be of help 😊 also look at a portable wifi then you don't always have to be stuck in the apartment 😊
@Eva Goola there are actually documentaires that are from peer scholars around on these subjects that would be acceptable at an elite collage it is a matter of talking to the professors and asking what would be acceptable for example Wikipedia would not be allowed as when I did a course to prepare for university because I have a interectual disability and fall on the autism spectrum (aspergers) many students in my class at the time asked about the use of Wikipedia and from what I'm told Wikipedia is frowned on by many universities here in Australia and to use it you have to find the original citation it came from and match it to the original scholary article it came from. You can you documentaries but you must be able to match to the original scholar or article it came from in greater detail. I would have to look at the American educational system because I think it is different than here in Australia sorry for repeating myself, I have a bad habit of doing that
Here’s an easy to remember fact about the French Revolution. King Louise XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette both lost their heads over the whole ordeal!!!
I am always so confused about the US university system... So when you finish, what qualification will you come away with? Like what are you studying? Is it a bachelor degree?
it is confusing! I'm getting a bachelor's degree in psychology, so I have to take a certain number of psychology courses to fulfil my major requirement. outside of that, I can take courses in any other subject areas. this semester I'm taking 3 psychology classes, statistics for social sciences, and then a history seminar. so I'm studying psychology through a liberal arts model of education :))
I feel like some professors enjoy creating impossible situations but then brushing it off like it’s reasonable. Thankfully they aren’t all like that. I had one professor who would make us read extremely long articles that weren’t very related to the course and then pull out obscure passages from those articles that we never discussed in class in exams. I was an A Student but for one of the exams I got a 5%. Like there were 10 questions and I got half credit for one of the answers. Somehow I made up for that grade on other assignments. I guess he couldn’t fail the whole class. 🤣
A bunch of us, some from Eliot House, some from the Harvard women's XC team, are taking Amtrak down to NYC Dec 9 to see Dua Lipa at Madison Sq Garden. If you and your friend want to join us, we do have a couple of spare tickets. We could let you know what train we will be taking and you guys could join us in New Haven. My girlfriend Ella (from the XC team) and I think Dua is sooo hot.
A recent viewer of your brilliant Vlogs (long may they continue). Also a great admirer of Yale and it's achievements. Certainly has architectural majesty in droves. I read my BA at Cambridge and MSc at UCL and now moving to USyd to study for an M.Phil. Question: why Yale over your country's premier institutions like USyd or UMelb? #Curious
Hi Just watched your youtube channel which is so interesting My son is going to year 12 and I'm wondering if u can help me with your subjects notes He's doing math methods, chemistry, physics, human biology and English Thanks in advance Good luck
that makes sense, I think a lot of people feel the same way! personally, I really love cooking and meal prepping. I enjoy being in the kitchen and making my own food - it's relaxing and fun for me! I've been in my apartment for a few months now and I'm loving being able to cook and eat at home rather than always having to go into the dining halls. but other people feel differently, this just works for me :)

I’m so amused at the random german “Bildungsroman” at 21:01 on the blackboard xD
You can do this. Get organized. Reset. 24 hrs in a day. Messy space causes stress. Proven. Reset.
You are doing really well, keep being proud of yourself and hope everything is going well xxx
I will never get bored of these vlogs, also what career/s are you hoping to go into after Yale?

Omg I would absolutely love to see a tour of your Notion! I live on that application xx
YES OMG!!
Tia, since you're on the computer so much, you might want to try blue light blocking glasses...you're eyes won't get as tired.
Hi Tia happy Sunday night and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
Love seeing the variety of activities you’re getting up to 😊
thanks so much Emily!! your comments always make me smile 🥰
Never going to get over the scale of Yale, lived in Connecticut my whole life and the campus is just larger than life itself ( never seen it upclose, but everyone knows it takes up most of the area. )
The time is going so quickly! Your place looks great! Keep up the good work....

Loving the video!! Are you going home to Australia for Christmas ? 🫶🏻

Noel is in the UK?!? You've got this Tia!!
I was exhausted just watching this video and all the things that you were doing. I love your apartment, looks very cute. Are there other Yale students living in the same building? Great video. All the best for your classes this semester.
thanks Lily!! yes, my apartment building is only for Yale students :)
You're such an inspiration, Tia! I love your videos so much! You've got this 💜
thank you so much, you're too kind!!
Can you listen while cleaning or doing laundry?
procrastinating my year 12 exam revision by watching this 10/10 worth it
I'm interested in how you find American coffee compared to Australian? (apparently, we Australians are "coffee snobs" HAHAHA)
australian coffee (especially melbourne coffee!) is sooo much better hahah
Will you be able to stay in this apartment for senior year as well?
My daughter is going to the US next year but how did you choose what laptop you might need and did you buy one when you got there or whilst you were still in Australia?
If you don't mind me asking, how much are the tuition fees for international students at Yale.
Is there an issue with Australian Uni’s that have led to both of you choosing universities abroad or just personal choice?
It's good that you dropped the history seminar. If the topic is new, it might be too hard on you without any reason for being so.
There are plenty of UA-cam videos and documentarys of the French revelution and European history if that could be of help 😊 also look at a portable wifi then you don't always have to be stuck in the apartment 😊

Do you still have access to the dining halls if you aren’t living on campus anymore or is it only something you can access when you do live on campus?
yes I do!! I can eat in the dining halls any time I want to!
Ooh cool which university is Noelle going to? I Iive in the uk. My daughter works for Oxford university (and studied there) 🥰
She’s studying at Oxford!
Small world!
I wonder which college?

@Eva Goola I have no idea the point you are making. I was just commenting on her ridiculous assignment
How is the coffee in America? i have heard it’s not as good as Aussie coffee!
definitely not as good as aussie coffee!!!
Was that John Bargh lecturing on the unconscious? Lucky you!
yes, he's my professor for that class! I've been enjoying it so far :)
I got war flashbacks from the harry styles tickets
Can we get a full apartment tour once you've gotten everything the way you like it?
for sure!!
Yeah, the west Australian education system has a lot to answer for when it comes to teaching history.
What is the app you are using that you are writing your notes?
There should be heaps of UA-cam videos on the French Revolution, I know some of it. Not much 😂
Hopefully the class your taking gives you a little more time to have a break
Not eating in the college cafeterias this year
Omg I’ve never heard someone call Koffee? Coffee with a K
ahaha really?! most of my friends call it that!
@@TiaChitty yeah locals just call it coffee
So super smart
Hi tia
