In this week's episode I celebrate the channel's success, discuss the landscape of car buying and what criteria I considered when selecting a replacement for my 2019 Accord 2.0. Go over the finalists I considered and ultimately the selection. Then I do an initial comparison between the new car and my Accord 2.0, it's an apples to oranges comparison.

I don't think the accord is going anywhere for the time being. Although sales have been declining, they still managed to sell over 200k units. However, that still pales in comparison to camry sales which moved over 300k units. Camry never outsold the accord by this much until around 2019 and it's all Honda's fault. The accord doesn't offer a pano moonroof, red seats, heated steering wheel, 360 degree camera, a good branded audio system, and two toned paint. Honda also failed to offer hybrids on every trim. And don't get me started on the packages Toyota offers on lower trims that the accord doesn't. Toyota managed to do all of that and that's why it's absolutely slaughtering the accord in sales. People want options and Honda failed to deliver to an extent. It's honestly sad because I think the accord is the better, more well rounded option for me, but shame on Honda for neglecting to give American consumers those options, especially considering other market get those features.

Will be interesting to see how many cars are available per manufacturer by 2025 and 2030. Doesn't appear to be a lot of optimism. Not sure why Honda chased out so bad on the "premium" stereo and didn't offer 360 camera either or awd or piano Sunroof. I suspect fear of competing with the tlx. I wholeheartedly agree the accord is a better car to drive in terms of fun.

The reason they outsell Honda is because of commercial sales. Honda is very strict on selling to rental/fleet sales. This is to maintain resale value for customers. If you take our fleet sales, accord isn’t that far off.

Good for you! I made a similar move in December. Traded in my 2021 Accord LX and bought a 2000 Toyota Camry. I plan on just riding out this semiconductor shortage and buying a 2.0t or next gen accord in a couple of years.

I don’t know why I care, but I am glad that you stayed in the Honda / Acura family. I used this channel as inspiration for some of the mods on my 2020 Accord. As far as your take on Hyundai Motor Corp vehicles I couldn’t agree more. We bought a KIA Soul brand new in 2016 and at 72,000 miles it suffered catastrophic engine failure. I like you am very OCD about my car maintenance so I found it very disappointing. I couldn’t in good conscience recommend a Hyundai Corp car. Keep the great content coming. Does the name of this channel remain “Just Another Honda Accord”?

Thanks for the kind words. Am not sure on the name if I'll keep the channel name the same or rename it to something more generic. Until the accord content is done likely won't make a change but will think about it.

Nice! Picked up my 2022 2.0t touring from Larry H Miller in Boise two weeks ago. I’m up here in CDA but Boise was the only 2.0t I could find in stock from here to Seattle

Had an accord 2.0 Touring - moved up to MN and swapped to a Toyota 4Runner. I feel like the Accord would have been a nightmare in the snow/ice 😁🥶

I had subscribed quite a while ago but evidently didn't click notify. I just searched to find you again and WOW what changes you have made. Moved from Arizona and getting rid of the Accord too. Your pick for the RLX was surprising (but not really after you mentioned owning the Genesis G80). I figured for sure you'd get the AWD 2.0T TLX and would be modifying it like your Accord (which you explained was something you didn't want to do.) Sorry I'm late in saying Congratulations with all the changes you have made in your life and hope you are enjoying the changes of seasons there compared to just "hot, hotter and hottest" in Phoenix. 🙂 BTW...glad you kept the Vette.
