It seems that Studio MDHR just didn't care about making a good and clean sprite. Same with Card, an unused "Soulidle" bot for Mr. Chimes Expert Mode, and those Turret Birds from Wally Warble are just Jareed's head.
Probably just as a test/prototype pre actual sound effect tho. It's a common techinque used also in screenwriting/storyboarding (the writers would "voice act" as a temp way to sorta see the final product). That's also why most of the music here is made with MIDI, same thing.
Me love the early prototype better than the final but i love the final a bit more than the prototype but the prototype doesn't have cuphead it has the light character wow
