My 20-year old Grammostola pulchra tarantula

- This is my oldest tarantula. It was born around 2003, and is with me since 2012. She had reached maturity long before I got her. I do not take her out often, but I had to clean up her enclosure, so I thought it's a good time to show it to the world again.
Enjoy this beautiful creature.
Last three molts:
- 23.August.2015
- 29.July.2018
- 04.September.2020
You can also see this same tarantula eating a mouse (though it's a gruesome scene) in 2013 - the only time I fed her with a mammal... • Large Grammostola Pulc... - Авто та транспорт
She’s a beautiful, gentle, old lady.
She's simply gorgeous! What a calm spider, she seems well acquainted with you. ❤
That’s a very big baby. 🥰
What a beautiful and distinguished old lady. I love spiders, and it's always nice to see one well cared for and living a long, healthy life.
Knowing spiders can live over 20 years is useful but cursed knowledge ngl
older than i am, she must be very wise.
On dodo channel was a story of a lady who had jumping spider. I watched couple of movies about them and they are really intelligent
Jumping spider infortunately only live a few months to maybe a year when very lucky@@borsuk96
She's so calm.
People are so feared of spiders but she is a true beauty
Most people are, but I try to love all animals. Children are not biased as us grownups, my kids love all my pets, which is awesome.
It is hard wired from birth, plenty of experiments with babies who have never seen a spider before and their pupils dilate when they see one.
@@dirksauditleistungenausdem1492 Na ja, als Kind hatte ich keine Angst vor Spinnen.
@@apox5308Then why are people culturally not afraid of spiders in Africa? They're seen as funny, goofy creatures there.
They are even seen as food in parts of Latin America and Asia.
I used to be afraid of spiders when I was younger, now I like them. It was a gradual, but pretty natural process. I wouldn't say my fear was hardwired.
not true. 'goofy' creatures? lol
Everyone I know are petrified of them. They think I’m weird for thinking they’re beautiful!
After watching couple of channels about tarantulas I confirmed my sentence from many years ago: It's the other people I should be scare of and not animals
I cured some people from their fear of spiders. They visited my "Esmeralda" and recognized her beauty. Even when I posted some fotos of her in an rodents forum, one women wrote back: When I think about it I find that "Esmeralda" is quite beautiful. So, give the people time, maybe later some day they will think different o these nice spiders.
@@Satiren-mit-Tieren i am currently in the process of beating my fear and i can feel a lot of the fear and terror being exchanged with cuteness for the first time :)
I have the same kind of Spider and she is chill and gentle af.
Tbh i an more afraid of spiders we find in our cellings than tarantulas
Same my family want me sectioned because the spiders was the last straw
She is huge, This is the biggest one I have seen yet.😊❤
I didn‘t know that spiders can get this old. She‘s beautiful. After so many years she still doesn’t like to be touched very much. I could never have an animal as a pet that needs living food though.
Why’s that
@@SpiritofPoisonYou can’t answer that one yourself 😂😅
@@uncoiledfish2561 no I want to know why they couldn’t have an animal that eats crickets lol.
@@SpiritofPoison Live crickets....
@@SpiritofPoison because some people find it gross? duh? lmao
She has 8 legs and 2 pedipalps for a reason. For super hugs. ❤
She is beautiful
Beautifully said.
She's like, "let me explore, human."
What a beautiful spider!
Your spider is quite lovely. She seems to be very friendly and peaceful. I wish you that she will live a long life!
Love from Germany.
This species in hobby is very well known to be one of the very docile species, with Grammastola Pulchripes, Brachypelma Smithi, Avicularia Versicolor, and a few others included. I love these tarantulas so much. ❤❤❤
@@SilverreploidCLE I've had a Grammostola Rosea, she was very, very friendly and relaxed from the temperament. She died at the age of 24 years and was by me 17 years. I loved her and I was very sad after she had died. That's two years ago. Now I'm thinking about buying me a new Grammastola tarantula. What spiders do you have?
@@Satiren-mit-Tieren I'm so sorry for your loss... I'm certain she brought so much warmth to you.. You have my prayers and I hope you will have another amazing spider to give him/her a home, because it's where the heart is. ❤️
As for me, well, sadly I don't have any, although in the future I might go for either these two beautiful tarantulas:
Brachypelma Smithi or the Eupalaestrus Campestratus!
@@SilverreploidCLE Thank you, that's very friendly from you!
I know them both, they both are very beautiful and also friendly spiders.
It seems that your prayers were successful. I'm going to get me TWO new spiders: Haplopelma lividum I bought today and Pterinopelma sazimai I'm going to buy next week. 😊😊😊
I saw the Sazimai on a Reptile exchange on Sunday and fall in love to her.
It's an absolute friendly, peaceful spider. I touched her legs an Sunday and she didn't feel afraid not a little. 😊😀
I had a Haplopelma lividum twentyfive years before this age. I really tamed her. After some weeks I could caress her with a stripe of paper.
Awwww, thank you for sharing! 20 wonderful years! Beautiful gal!
Impressive animal. Thanks for showing
She is absolutely stunning! What a wonderful girl! ❤
it is such a delight to see a tarantula live such a long, happy life! she is a beautiful girl!
SHE'S ABSOLUTELY 💯 GEOGEOUS AND 💯 PRECIOUS ❤❤❤❤❤❤
She's gorgeous!! And very amazing❤❤❤
Spiders usually disgust me but for some unknown reason I want to pet this one 😅
What a beautifull old lady
She is absolutely stunning, great job!!
She looks like such a sweetheart 🥺 I saw another video of a person's 30-year-old Grammastola. I've only got a Brachypelma, but I hope she can grow up as old and happy as these other ladies
Wow, really nice. My Pulchra is only 6 months old. That's the biggest I've see so far. Beautiful congrats.
Sweetie ♡
I see a true aged friendship ❤. Nice animal.
I had no idea they could live that long. 🇬🇧
20 years! .. That is just incredible and what a lovely spidey she is ^_^.. Very endearing.
Wow, she is a unit.
What a precious baby ❤
I didn't know tarantulas could go so far. She's a fighter
I have 3 juveniles. Very slow growing. One on my favorites In my collection. Yours is a beautiful T.
Im still scared of spiders becasue i think that they are guranteed to bite me , put me infront of this gentle giant and there will be no hesitation in picking her beautiful soul up ❤
most spiders would much rather run away than bite you
@@tatemushroom1002 Ik , I meant like holding them and stuff
Amazing!!! The big 20 thats so awesome ❤❤
I have one as well.1 year old, hope it will have happy life like yours seem to have :)
Good luck, man!
A wonderful great Big Lady she is. I have also 7 Tarantulas at home, big and small.
Can you share with us what species do you have?
U done a great job taking care of that beautiful T well done m8
Well taken care of . Beautiful tarantula ❤
This is an arthropod that has been around longer than Rick rolling. Let that sink in.
She looks like an absolute gem! Has she always been that calm or do they become calm with age? (I don’t own a tarantula yet but I will one day!)
She has always been calm, but it might be true that some of my spiders have become more docile with age... Just start with a docile tarantula when you join the hobby, rosea, pulchripes or pulchra are all good choices, good luck 🤞
They are one of the most sought after beginner tarantulas due to their docile nature, long lifespan and ease of care and how beautiful they are. Took me almost a year to get a female Pulchra but worth every penny.
@@Mydarkpassenger1986 wow a whole year? Where do you live?
@@Chained2Alice I live in the uk it was very difficult to get a female Pulchra they were always getting snapped up. Slings and males were easy to get though. I eventually managed to get Betty when she was a small juvenile and had her over a year.
@@Mydarkpassenger1986 Interesting, I thought it was easier to find them there. Thank you for replying, cheers mate!
Absolutely beautiful!❤
20 years…i had no idea it is possible ❤
“We do not speak of it!” Hagret was my master! Lol!
Man that thing is huge! Spiders are a love hate…. beautiful & cool to watch! But if they disappear in your establishment you’ll have a hard time going to sleep!😅😂😅😂🤦🏽♂️
I lost my ball python for a few days last year... eventually I found it underneath my bed 🛌 👀
So awesome. What a beautiful lady you have there✌️☺️
Such a gentle beast

Omg she’s adorable 🥰
She's sooo cute!
My goodness, she is truly magnificent. I had no idea they could live so long. I cant get over watching her move. She is so big and her movement so smooth that it feels like she has to be AI. Thank you for sharing your amazing friend with us! ❤
Very nice big old pulchra female ❤😊

I do like her ❤ She is majestic 🕷️
I already have four spiders on my own and they are really great. :)
The way she's older than me. She's beautiful
Good for you, I am 37 lol 😂
What an absolute beauty. Please don't eat me though.
Looks 100% like shelob.
Awesome...I'm afraid of spiders.
Your spider is so big he is not scary more interesting.
I never knew spiders lived this long.
She looks great for an old lady
Awe cute old lady
Brilliant video
Gorgeous ❤. God bless it
You're so lucky! I hope mine ends up being female and stays with me this long!
Beautiful, and so big. I tried keeping tarantulas but in my neck of the woods we have extremely low humidity and only desert species did a little better. Trying to keep humidity up was as futile as trying to stay dry standing under a waterfall. Though I managed to keep a parahybana male alive for 2 years after final moult. He was skinny but had a near record breaking legspan. He never ate, but keeping him supplied with fresh water was key. Quite amazing really how he could make it for that long. I had a pulchra too, for about three moults, but she hardly grew, non of my spiders grew a lot. I suspect that the low humidity and lower than average temperatures did this. I wouldn't recommend spiders as a hobby for people who live close to the arctic. It's not even close to their environment and it needs a lot of dedication to the animals keeping them alive and well, and even then it's likely not going to be doing them justice.
It would be great if you could tell us where do you live. 2 years for a mature male is the optimal period. I had a large parahybana male too, he was quite a thing, but was far more unsettled when I handled him, not so docile. I remember a friend of mine watching me with horror while I was holding this huge tarantula... Good times. (I just found a photo and here it is, that was back in 2010 😬: drive.google.com/file/d/1hMw63mdU1_gy8-ByCHz03bdG1-Keu0hc/view?usp=sharing)

I can tell you that she's absolutely stunning and extremely precious also very geogeous and beautiful and adorable ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What an ancient arachnid =o
So Beautiful
Even walks like an old lady
She's beautiful, I do love spiders a lot hence why I always watch videos about them but my arachnophobia will turn me into a crying mess having a panic attack if I ever see them near me in real life.
So my masochistic thoughts suggested I just watch them through screens where I know nothing bad will happen. Even if I freak out and say how big and massive they are with a sort of excited and scared look.
This one is a gentle giant. I got many friends that do not like spiders to hold one (not this one) and see there is nothing scary. My children love them too.
Hi, can you advise me on how to raise this species for longevity? How to feed? Place of rearing
Tbh I've not provided any special care for this lovely tarantula. I mean nothing different from the others I look after. My rules are simple: One large dubia roach 🪳 every 2 weeks, I also fill the water bowl every week and raise the humidity when it's time to moult. I use cocoa substrate in all tarantula enclosures. I use heating mats to keep the temperatures around and above 20 C in the winter. I've got her already mature, so she has a large enclosure from the start, but for young & little Ts, it's recommended to start with smaller ones. One last thing - I have added hideouts in each enclosure. I hope that helps a bit. Thank you for your comment!
That yellow fluid you showed? What is that?
Her excrements...
loot at her size, i guest she have a wonderful life ❤
Very nice tarantula, Sir can gave me good advice on how you take care your tarantula to become long leave and healthy lik your, im also a pet lovers i have 27 spices of tarantula. Thank you in advance on your reply.
Do not overfeed them, do not stress them, keep the humidity levels optimal when molting, and good luck :))
Es una tarantula viejita pero agradable
She's so chunky and cute
YAAAYYYY!!!
Wow!!!👍
Big cuddly 🕷 🕸 ❤
Beautiful looks like a bigger version of my girl Betty
Maybe "bigger"? ;)) but bigger+bug = bugger so 💯 :dd
@@Chained2Alice well spotted with the typo haha
She is beautiful and terrifying, but she also looks like she could knit me a sweater and chat over tea.
inspiring
Off to the Arachnid's day centre.
Gorgeous! But she looks tired after 20 years.
How can something be so beautiful yet so terrifying at the same time 😆
Well movies and tv series made them scarry
What a beast, taking down a mouse bigger than herself 💪 kinda felt bad for the mouse tho 😅
NOW THATS WHAT YOU CALL A TARANTULA, VERY SIMILAR TO MY THAI BLACK 🖤 🇬🇧
