I adore great white sharks; however, they are no match for orcas. Orcas are brilliant creatures, possibly the most intelligent animals on earth. Combine that with their impressive size and strength, and they are a force to be reckoned with.
I've always wanted to call multiple orcas "orca" like you do with game animals like deer. For example, "Look at that big pod of orca." or "Those orca are so beautiful." And I've been obsessed with them since the 80s when I saw the Richard Harris movie called "Orca".
The orca was coming in so fast and you can see the shark actually tried to react, but wasn't fast enough. There's no fucking around with orcas, damn...

The Seal encounter with the Mantas Ray is one of my favourite part of the video. It was a comedic reaction from the seal when the ray swam to the light. They both scared each other from while drawn to the light. 😆
"I guess it's just a reminder of all the wild deadly predators that can hurt you in Australia. What a place." Another legendary quote Kris, and an even better video!
The monk seal commentary was priceless: ‘Get back, get back.’ Please do a focus video on the orca/shark slam. Thank you (from the working waterfront in Maine).
The seal's reaction to the manta ray was absolutely hilarious. It's "oh shit" moment had a much better outcome than the white shark's. It appears that the white shark notices the charging orca at the last moment, but it's too late to do anything about it.
I'm glad you pointed out that it was not a nurse shark which had a run at the crocodile in that one clip. When l first saw the clip, l watched it multiple times trying to figure out why a nurse shark would do that. I never noticed that it actually wasn't a nurse shark.
Thanks so much! Would love to see a more in-depth analysis of the Orca/Great White encounter. I remember seeing it the first time a few months ago and gasped out loud at the speed of the orca’s attack.
The speed of that Killer Whale hitting that shark was just hard to believe. How anything that big can travel that fast in water, is just extaordinary. Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
If the orca is a character in a video game it would not be used much as it would not leave much for the other characters to do. Huge, powerful, fast, highly intelligent and sociable, there is just no beating it.
Gosh, never thought I'd feel sorry for a great white.😯 A video on orcas' attack strategies would be interesting though. Great content, as usual, Kris!😊
I can’t remember where it was but I read something 10+ years back about orca predation in South Africa and it said at the time only the older females were known to hunt white sharks. Then when port/starboard were documented it was a surprise as they had a different hunting strategy and had been thought to be too big and cumbersome to hunt without more agile females. This is how I originally imagined them hunting so very interesting 👌🦈
I do like the video of Shannon diving into the water with the white shark, and I like that he is being respectful of the shark, now if we could only get ocean Ramsey to do the same
Monkey Mia is a well known tourist draw where large groups of people who stand in waist deep water to feed wild Dolphins. As for the Saltwater Crocodile? that is only a very little one- they are known to grow over 6m in length- and it was a little outclassed in that encounter. Good old Australia!
I’m watching this with my 3 year old granddaughter and with all the sharks and other stuff in the video, she notices the goose on the shirt you’re wearing. Toddlers, I swear! 😂
Wow, what an awesome episode! Thanks a ton. I'm a huge fan of your channel. You always keep us in the loop and break things down so well. I'd totally be down for another full episode, about a killer whale taking on a shark. This older female orca, like sixty years old, who just slammed into a shark and took it out on her own. Super intense! Also, I've been hearing about these white shark carcasses in Australia, all missing their livers. Looks like the killer whales there have got a taste for shark livers. Could you check out if this is some new trick they picked up from the orcas in South Africa? And there’s this new type of orca that sticks to the deep sea and never hits the shore. Not much is known about them, but maybe they’re also hunting white sharks when they cruise between Australia and South Africa. There’s loads to uncover here, and your channel is just the best at digging into these mysteries. Could you dive into why these sharks in Australia are turning up without livers and figure out if this is some ancient orca tactic we just stumbled upon or if it's something new? Also, is this putting the white shark squad in danger of dying out if this is all new to them and they haven't figured out how to dodge being prey yet? Thanks for looking into this, you always nail it
That Great White looked almost alive. I even thought I saw some movement around their head at 7:28 (wonder if it was organs/liquids sloshing around?). The Great White at the ending's reaction was pretty dramatic too. Poor thing.
Dead, movement from people starting to prep it to move. It took me a couple times watching but it's obv once I saw the harness placement on the dead shark's head plus Kris is pretty careful + specifically said "washed up dead". I re-watched until I saw the harness bc I was fooled by the head motion jerking too.
The ray and seal is my favourite - laughed my socks off. Seal was proper spooked - just like me Mr K when you used to jump out of the dark at me on the landing lol

Wow loving these videos. Sharks are awesome. It's refreshing to having honest videos. Keep up the great work on helping to educate people on just how fantastic these creatures are. They deserve our respect and not to be persecuted.
Loved the manta and seal sharing 6 colours of cr@p out of each other. Def want to know more about the beaches GWshark and orca attack if you find out more. Great content as always mate. Thanks
The seal one was hillarious...the way the seal just casually comes up to check the light, like the curious dog mermaid it is, and then just nopes out of the situation the moment the ray comes in XD. The other clips were cool too, I liked the croc and shark one too. Shark just randomly deciding that a crocodile would be a good meal. It's kinda brave too, given that saltwater crocodiles are second on the list of 'strongest bite force' and they're only beaten by Nile crocs. They have muchb stronger bite than Great White sharks. so if that crocodile decided to fight back and bite the shark, I'd say it would win.
Final Thoughts: 1. A video on that orca’s attack strategy would be really cool! 2. It always amazes me that massive sharks can swim into ankle-deep water. Whenever I see pictures of people diving with them they look like giants, but I guess that’s mostly from the length. 3. When I was younger, there was a seal swimming pretty close to me at the beach. I thought it was pretty cool (obviously), but seeing the tiger shark chase the turtle right up to the shore, I’ll definitely be more cautious if it ever happens again. Not that I’m worried it would choose me instead - just don’t want to get in the way of a shark and its meal. 4. That seal’s reaction to the manta ray was, by far, one of the best things I’ve ever seen. I feel like I have to draw it?
No video I'm aware of, but I'd be interested in you talking about the shark attacks this past winter in Jalisco, Mexico. Can confirm Monkey Mia is a real place, part of Shark Bay no less. A friend of mine got badly stung by jellyfish whilst swimming when we stayed there for a bit. There’s a hostel with a bar overlooking the sea and dolphins swam past a few times. Saw loads of turtles but no sharks, can recommend going there.

Great video. Yes, I loved the orca attack and if you did a whole video on it I would be interested. It is amazing to me how easy orcas take whatever they want.
Another awesome video Kris. 🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈 That surfers reaction to the white shark in front of him was funny. I bet that guy was like "Oh my god, that's not a dolphin". I saw the thing with the sharks and the crocodile and the tiger shark on Instagram. I pointed this out on Instagram too, if you look closely at the tiger shark when it's on the beach, you can see what looks to be a thin fishing line near the front of the dorsal fin. Those Australians reaction to seeing the whale shark was hilarious. The last one is a perfect example of why I don't like orcas. Especially Port and Starboard. As for your question if we wanted to see a video on that clip, my answer is "No"
I think my favourite was probably the seal and manta, although the Australians with the whale shark were really funny too. I admit, I swore at the speed of that orca attacking the shark - not often you get to see that so I really appreciate all of these videos and your opinions on them.

Those Australians reaction to seeing the whale shark was hilarious. The last one is a perfect example of why I don't like orcas. Especially Port and Starboard. As for your question if we wanted to see a video on that clip, my answer is "No"
Could be a good report for the shark entanglement network (the tiger shark)
I think my favourite was probably the seal and manta, although the Australians with the whale shark were really funny too. I admit, I swore at the speed of that orca attacking the shark - not often you get to see that so I really appreciate all of these videos and your opinions on them.
That was well Orca-strated 😂
nice
I'm surprised the video of that guy jumping off the pier to get something dropped and then a Great White turned up isn't here. That was a crazy video
