  • beadaholique.com - There are so many different types of glue that we use in jewelry and it can be a bit confusing as to which one you should choose for a specific project. This video goes over 4 common glues: E6000, Nunn Design Glue, Crafter's Pick, and GS Hypo-Cement and talks about each one and what makes it special. Various application examples are also given.

    Hi! Some people are more sensitive to the fumes then others, so it is a little hard for me to say exactly what will or will not have a strong odor to you personally. For instance, I know some glues that I think are fine my husband finds really strong. Most people do not really notice an odor with Crafters Pick Glue or Nunn Design Glue. E6000 does have a strong odor and it is best to work in a well ventilated area.

    Brittany Headbang It depends on how thick your metal rings are. If they are quite thick and there is enough metal touching metal, then I think they will hold. However, it also depends on the weight of the chain and the rings, if it is incredibly heavy, then it might not hold.

    GS HypoCement would be a good choice for rhinestones and it should not affect their shine. If you are worried about their shine, just make sure to only apply the glue to the backside of the rhinestone and not get any on the front.

    The GS HypoCement should work well for a phone case. Just a word of caution, phones get knocked around quite a bit so whatever you stick on a phone case, will most likely come off over time. You will want to have some extras of whatever you are adhering. If it's a big solid object, I would suggest E6000 glue.

    I use the E6000 for everything.I kept a leather belt for two yrs longer with E6000 and I recently used it to glue the plastic back of my kitchen grill back on after my new cat knocked it onto the floor and broke it.This stuff is the best.I find I prefer to use my hands to apply it most of the time and it just peels off after it dries.

    E6000 is definitely the "Duct Tape" of the crafting world, I use it for almost everything from little rhinestones to chunky car parts that I glue on for larger steampunk projects. I have had the same experience with E6000 (as well as other glues) as AnaRosa -the actual rhinestone will fall off simply leaving the foil attached to the project with the glue. The only way around this I've found is to make sure a touch of the E6000 is slightly on the side edges of the rhinestone. It dries clear and if "barely" on the gem, you can't tell.

    GS Hypocement would be good for rhinestones. E6000 is one of those glues which is affected by temperature and how old your bottle is. For a new bottle in a mild temperature environment, I find that I have about 5 minutes, especially if it is a pretty big glob that I am using. If I am just using a tiny bit, it does dry quite a bit quicker. Also, I find it dries quicker during the summer heat.

    Do you think clear gorilla glue is okay for earrings?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  3 роки тому

      It might be, the most of important question is what the earrings are made out of. We use E6000 for a lot of our projects because it's good at sticking metal to metal, and metal to glass, and fabric to glass. If you've got clear gorilla glue already you can test it with the sorts of materials you want to make earrings out of. If it still holds well after a few days of drying and you like the look of it then it'll probably do well for you. Since the things people make earrings out of usually don't weigh a lot you won't have to worry as much about the glue holding heavy weights over time.
