I just sculpted out a whole face and stuck right at the ear part. I thought watching another tut would be a waste of time, but instead increased my understanding in workflow and sculpting process. Btw you are truly the Bob Ross of Blender mister, you reminded me to enjoy the process, not to grind for the outcome. Thanks a lot sire :D
That's some really nice ear over there. Thanks for everything professor, i've improved my work a lot since i started watching your vídeos. Cheers from Brazil!
My first ear took me whole day and it was first model I ever made (face was in plan). It was so painful experience that i quited 3d for a year. I should have start with an apple but my damn ego...
for some reason, the ear for me didn’t take to long, where the eye took 1.5 days and still not the happiest, whipped out the ear in like 1 hour might be cos i diden’t care about it as much so i wasn’t overthinking it or maybe cos i’ve done most of a person i have more experience, so id say just practice eventually grants advice becomes clear, and you pick up on the important stuff.
Dunno if you guys cares but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all of the new series on Instaflixxer. Been watching with my girlfriend for the last couple of weeks =)
Great series on sculpting and I really look forward for the next tutorials you made cause they also look awesome, but I did wish you had made one about hair and facial hair so I could finish this model that already has nose, lips, eyes and ears. Either way it's a great playlist and most will keep coming back to see what's new for sure!
Another great video, thank you very much, i learn so much from you videos, i am total new to blender, so i have much to learn, and you help me alot. And i like the beta 2.8 very much it is easier for me to understand so many things. Still have some issues with my setup of my settings with Tablet, didn't find any help on how to and why, and some crashes in beta 2.8 so need to remember to save my work.
Thanks for all your amazing tutorials Grant!! They're always so easy to understand and very interesting! Can you create one on making & styling hair in blender 2.8?
just got on blender today, been watching pretty much every single video of yours trying to get better at this. would be a huge huge help if you could maybe do a tutorial for shoe modeling. there is literally none that does step by step shoe modeling out there. amazing content
Hi Grant , i really love your videos , i have one request please . can you do tutorial about hair (sculpting hair , or modeling it)i will really be grateful
These tutorials are great! I'm really learning a lot thanks to them. One question though: Your sculpting somehow seems to be much smoother than mine. I have tried different brush size and zooming in, but no matter what I do with the snake hook, the geometry you pull out is much smoother than mine. I can't just use the smoothing tool to smooth over it as it just flattens and undoes the work. The resolution of the tool and the detailing setting is the same as in the tutorial. Is there any other setting you changed for sculpting?
Do you use a drawing tablet and if so would you recommend it? I do some other graphic design work (mainly adobe illustrator) as a hobby so it wouldn't be used purely for blender.
I have a display tablet question. How do you manage the middle mouse button with the pen? I hate clicking and holding the pen buttons for middle-click so I tried mapping them to buttons, but that made it harder to use keystrokes with the mouse buttons. Just curious how you have yours setup.
Grant, I notice you use Snake Hook A LOT and I notice some other sculptors use grab more and while I know that one adds topology, what's the pros and cons of either or? I notice you use it exclusively and I notice for example YanSculpts uses Grab a lot for his shape.
Thank you for the video @grant. I was having problems while sculpting ears and lips really needed it. And thanks again for your discord channel❤️ rajjo here
Great tutorial i have a question, i have seen people sculping and i see that with out moving the object wile they move the tool the brush like for example the grab brush will like sorta follow the mesh from forward to back so its almost as if the brush was moving on the Z axis i have looked and looked and i cant seem to find a way to do it please help
Just couldn't help but seeing a butt with ears all the time :) But anyway, thanks a ton for this and the rest of the series! Really helped me to get started. Doing daily quick sessions like this now, it's fun and I see big improvements (which is part of what makes it fun, I guess :) )

Yes it's always best to start with something simple an ear is very tough to model :)

@Cody Jimmy definitely, been using InstaFlixxer for months myself :)
Thank you so much! Was trying to sculpt an ear for a few hours now, and suddenly ping, your tutorial pops up in my feed... what a coincidence!
nice
Thank you! This helped me! Every other video wanted me to move shapes for an ear
watched the whole series! a lot of fun! thanks for the free content!
pure gold, mate
Thanks :)
This really helped me get past my fear of sculpting ears. Thank you for the great tutorial :)
I hear ya 👂

"To sculpt ears is relatively easy." Best joke ever. This is brilliant!!! Could you sculpt a human toe? Or even a whole foot?

check my video on setting up your tablet for blender. What tablet is it?
Terrific video and excellent teaching style. Thanks for posting.
Thanks :)

Check out my character live stream where I do the boots
Can you make a video on retopology a ear... and different ways to model cloth
thank you for another great tutorial!
Thanks Grant!
Only started sculpting a couple days ago. Took me about 3 hours to complete my first ear. I should have known better and came to your tutorials first!
Thanks
I really need to practice the ears tough one.
Hi Grant , i really love your videos , i have one request please . can you do tutorial about hair (sculpting hair , or modeling it)i will really be grateful
i will probably do that at some point soon
@@grabbitt thank you so much

you may have a bigger starting shape
I need to practice this. Thanks!
😃

I do you can see description for recommendations
how do you rotate/move/zoom the object while using the tablet pen?
Set middle mouse button to pen button
@@grabbitt I thought you might be using a device connected to the tablet. Your solution sounds easier

You just get used to the pen button but it takes a little while
Gotcha. Muscle memory? I’ll keep trying.
Thanks!

Grab is for non dyntopo snake hook adds topology
Grant Abbitt thank you for your response! Now that I think about it, he DOES use grab before he turns on dyntopo mostly so that makes a lot of sense!
Thank you for the video @grant. I was having problems while sculpting ears and lips really needed it.
And thanks again for your discord channel❤️ rajjo here

you may be talking about the sculpting branch which is a different version of blender specifically aimed at sculptors.
@@grabbitt darn it so its not possible for us to do it hahaha i have search and search
@@moonnight3847 you can download the sculpting branch from graphicall

I love your tutorials, but I just discovered that making it 1.75x faster is key (to me)!
Can you do more of these
What would you like to see?
I don’t recall seeing like just a base head shape kinda thing or maybe hair. I’m brand new at sculpting and your videos help a lot!
please do hair tutorial !!
may be soon
Nice
Thanks :)
Doctor: Faceless ear balled-monsters aren't real, they cannot hurt you.
Faceless ear balled-monster:
Finally!
It took me a while yes :)
good tuto, but why my sphere is smooth and when i click on Dyntopo she is not smooth anymore ?
Have you applied any modifiers
@@grabbitt hmm not :(
@@karchacra not sure then
maybe it's because dyntopo triangulates your mesh? I'm not sure
You have to check "smooth shading" in the Dyntopo menu :)
Sphere with ears looks scary. Someone need to make a game with it.
Yes i call them sph-ears :)
