  • This clip is part of a documentary recorded in 1999 on Thaiyuth, a Modern-Traditional Muay Boran style developed around the 50s by combining Muay Boran with Karate, Aikido, Judo, Silat, and Kung Fu. It might be the first Muay Boran style that introduced forms.

    Modern Muay Boran, or Muay Nam, is the style I'm currently developing. It was born by applying the principles of Jeet Kune Do to a mix of many Muay Boran styles, which have been reformed and refined in a modern and practical way, with the influence of many combat sports and martial arts from all around the world (Old British Bare Knuckle Boxing, Lethwei, Taekwondo, Boxing, Wushu, MMA, various ancient and contemporary Wrestling styles).

    Love that first combo. Seems simple and direct

    That's like an MMA stance, seems like a good stance to defend and execute take downs because is wide and it looks balanced 50 /50 ideal for powerful punches and good footwork and the hand position is a long guard Which is the best guard for bare knuckle fighting or small gloves

      That's how Muay Boran worked originally; there was wrestling under the belt and fights were Bare-Knuckle before the introduction of rope wraps 🙏

    Thank you for this amazing content sir, I have a question have you ever met any masters of this great style ?
    And in the course you have online do you have forms that you’re teaching ?

    • @GaawutProductions
      @GaawutProductions  Рік тому +3

      Nope, I haven't met any Thaiyuth master yet.
      I'm sorry but in my online course I don't teach forms because Muay Nam focuses on practicality and effectiveness, and I've found forms to not be essential for a fighter, but are a valuable extra tool if you like them 🙏

    About how many of these can you do in real combat. I know you can’t do the jumping butt-strike but I don’t know about anything else

      They are simple striking combos with some unorthodox strikes here and there, if fighting in a ring you could probably do all of them (besides the jumping butt), but obviously they won't be this clean and they might get interrupted.
      Some of them are great drills to understand how to manage different fighting ranges, and develop greater distance management.

      Yeah, watch seanchai. He use all these techniques

      Some are just for show, like the jumping butt-strike, but the practical one can be seen even today on the ring
