Yeah same here. I live in Atlanta, well technically, about 10 miles away from the downtown area, but it’s really awesome that this great cartoon showed some representation of my home city. :)
To this day, I still remember A Rich Shade of Blue. For some reason that song really stood out to me. "You can have everything you want, but everything you need, money don't buy. It's a rich shade of blue" People always tend to envy the wealthy. But that song shows that people who are rich can still feel lonely. They have a shade of blue, even if it's not the same as you.
@@loganx1039 that's my point exactly. Only privileged people that have never been homeless, starved with no money to feed themselves, or had their livelihood threatened by needing money they don't have, would say "rich people get sad too, it's just different". I wish there was more kids media that treated different music genres with respect like this. I know for me it was one of the things that made me try out jazz, classical and hip hop to name a few.
Without Class of 3000, there would have not musical driving shows or shows with music elements like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe. Or Adult Swim shows like Metalocalypse.
Metalocalypse debuted months before class of 3000 Also have you never watched the wiggles or blues clues, hannah montana also came out earlier in 2006 than them Dora in 1999 at that
@@ጭስዋሪማና blues clues and the wiggles are terrible examples they are for babies as we get older no one watching that singing cartoon shows are rare it was all live action and white ppl not kids from differ races singing together
@HeartBreak Kidd old concept. Powerful people are scary as shit because no one just gets power. You have to do, and continue to do (what else would you call it but) evil shit everyday to not just get more, but maintain what you have. If you make a deal with a guy who could (will) disappear your best friend as leverage if you ever go against them, all for a cool mil, when you sit back to think.. Who else could you compare them to but the devil?
I remember dropping everything just to watch Class of 3000 and listen to the bangers they'd pump out each episode, that Throwdown bumper has been engraved in my mind. CN was airing a lot of cheap looking flash shows at the time (TDI, Fosters, Chowder etc being the exception) so this looked like an anime in comparison. The fact a show from 2006 isn't on any streaming service is criminal, and I know why. It truly was life without music when this show got cancelled.
I hated all the flash shows, they always look terrible. It really encouraged me to watch the shows that weren't flash though so I'm forever grateful. Maybe the flash shows were good too idk.
I love Class of 3000. It's such a good underrated series. I don't remember much of it specifically, but I remember having fun when watching it every week and the music segments always stood out visually as well as with the music itself. Knowing that it was such a passion project for Andre 3000 make me appreciate it more. It really deserves more attention.
I remember this show. It often comes up in the back of my mind. Sad how it's so quickly forgotten. One of the best underrated celebrity shows. It's almost like an cartoon version of "School Of Rock"! 🎸🎶
I thought this show got canceled because Andre was still recording music while working on the show, and kept missing deadlines. He couldn’t hand the show over to someone else full time because Andre was the show.
I sadly don't remember the channel that has the video that has the clip, but it's of Tom Kenny (Eddie Va) pretty much confirming this. His words being "André was just a busy guy" which make sense, especially coupled with the the other potentially likely factor of it probably being one of the more expensive series
@@MagillanicaLouM The show was unsustainable by its premise. Having one person create a brand new song PER episode, would have been a tall order in itself and eventually they would have burned out. But when you combine the fact that same person also has to voice act on the show and do other duties, while also continuing his music career; it's just too much.
@@alexblake5369 on pbj & otter they were creating 4 to 8 new songs per episode (for 65 episodes) even tho that's two people but one new song doesn't sound as bad with that in mind. But by one person yeah I understand.
This show resonated with me so much as a kid. Growing up impoverished in Atlanta and being so captivated by music at a young age, I saw myself in Andre 3000. He was and still is a living legend over here and I don’t think anything but animation can truly capture his vivid artistic visions. Hope he takes up a project like this again in the future! Also I’m so happy I found this channel! Going to start binge watching all of your vids !!
Class of 3000 was the inspiration for an animation idea I had for a project when I was learning Concept Design. It was gonna be a series about the Pied Piper, and what happens to the children he takes away. He takes them away to his school for Musical Magic, kinda like a Hogwarts for Musicians. The style of the series would be kinda like a mix between Class of 3000, and Shrek, cause it would've taken place in a medieval/fairytale world with a lot of modern day references. They'd all learn magic from the Pied Piper, and use what they learn to help people and what not.
This video is like a time capsule, you perfectly captured what was going on with cartoons at the time. It felt like everything was changing. Class of 3000 was one of the shows to really stick with me. The episode where Lil' D takes Eddie on a tour through the parts of town he never visited was AMAZING. Nearly every single song in the first season was incredible and hilarious. My life got a bit...tumultuous when season two aired, so I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but hopefully one day I'll have the time.
That wasn't the dark age. The dark age started a little later when they began live action shows. Don't get me wrong, 2004 WAS when they began to air trite nonsense, but there was still plenty of decent things airing. When they began airing live action stuff though, that was when they not only went completely creatively bankrupt, but they began halting the airing of older shows and adopted the infamous mentality of "These shows are meant for children, we don't have to actually try". The fact that the last decade was highlighted by shows like "Adventure Time" is honestly really fucking sad, because Adventure Time was only ever "Okay". Regular Show was enjoyable, but still mostly "Okay". And the reason for this is that the shows were also adopting the mentality of "quirky is king" where everyone had to have bombastic, nonsensical personalities which just takes people out of genuine character development when it appears. It wasn't like Hey Arnold! where episodes could pop in humor but be completely unapologetic in darker, more sincere moments. It wasn't like Ed Edd n Eddy where it was fully committed to the ludicrous blend of slapstick and meta humor. The shows were middling between serious storytelling and corporate influenced trends that they believed would keep yhe attention of young wandering minds. As a result, they're just "Okay". Had it stopped there, it would have been alright. But it didn't. We got shit like Uncle Grandpa, The Problem Solverz, and most infamously, Teen Titans Go. TTG, unfortunately, represents the problems with modern Cartoon Network in its entirety and is king to the real dark ages of CN, which we're still going through. Executives are keeping things too safe and sterilized and people aren't allowed to experiment anymore, which was what gave us the golden age to begin with.
Most likely because this is the period that young teens were given personal cell phones and common households could afford a good computer and internet. The era where our generation migrated from cable to internet is easily seen. So many good animated cartoons are forgotten because the internet and immediate satisfaction became obtainable hence the neglect of cartoons aired on cable
@@Impalingthorn True, the live-action shows were actually representative of a dark time for Cartoon Network. In fact, that era most likely began with the CN Original Movie “Reanimated” and the subsequent series “Out of Jimmy’s Head.”
@@zoisite_moon2828 I remember disliking Chowder and Flapjack but liked Camp Lazlo and Squirrel Boy. Years later I realized how great Flapjack and Chowder were and I regret missing out on them. Looking back on Out of Jimmy's Head, it was way worse than I thought it was.
I remembered this show because throughout my life, there were barely any kids shows about boys that looked like me. Sure, there was That's So Raven, True Jackson and The Proud Family, but there weren't enough shows that centered around black males. After Static Shock, Filmore and Kenan and Kel ended, all I had was this show, Cory in the House and Just Jordan, which I didn't care for along with Romeo or Cousin Skeeter cuz I was scared of puppets at the time. Thank God for Craig of the Creek cuz I related to him more than Kenan, Kel, Romeo, Lil D or any black male character from the past. On top of that, I loved the concept of the show with using different art styles AND music styles for different music videos. I wish other cartoons picked up on this idea but I know how expensive that would be. I was already an OutKast fan of as a kid and this show made me love them even more. Edit: anyone else think someone from Pixar has seen this show and came up with the idea of Joe from Soul? Edit again: the entire show NEEDS to be released on HBO Max cuz I hate that I have to look at random websites to find unaired episodes.
Yeah, I believe Craig of the Creek is an amazing show too! And I would have to agree for an official release of 3000. The show seems interesting and I would love to revisit it, especially since I barely remembered it. :)

Maaaaannnn thinking back on this, it's pretty crazy that it came together. It really was an ambitious project for a show aimed at kids, and I really appreciate that.
I clicked this video thinking I have never seen this show before, only to realize I vaguely remember it. Aaah! I just got back a part of my childhood that I lost.... What a crazy experience living is.
Dude I never forgot about this show!!! I still remember some of the original episodes' airings on tv. The music and characters have been stuck in my head for most of my life, and I think that's the power of putting original music in cartoons that explore so many different genres and styles. Thanks for bringing this gem back to relevancy.
Idk. I know this show is forgotten, but I vividly remember a number of the songs featured in every episode. Its such a shame it ended just as Cartoon Network was entering the dark age. They ended Toonami, rejected Underfist, had Foster's go AWOL the entire last year it was on air, then a parade of Live Action shows nobody asked for was dirtying the network...In hindsight, even this was better than the second dark age. Playing Teen Titans Go and Gumball all day has really made Cartoon Network a second rate channel. Lol its not even an essential channel of Cable packages anymore
I only remember this show because the intro was swangin. To this day i still randomly hum the beginning of it where it goes "class of 3000 sing. La la la la la la la la"
I thought I was the only one who remembered Class of 3000. This show (and the flash game) introduced me to producing music and I still have many of their songs in my playlist. Personal favorites are Throwdown, The Crayon Song, and Philly Phil Come Home. Honorable mentions to Turn of the Century and UFO Ninja
Class of 3000 was one of those shows that was HUGE during the period it was on air, then suddenly dropped out of conversation the moment it wasn't, or at least for people my age that I knew in school it was. As kids I think we didn't really have a grasp on how temporary it'd be, or that it'd influence our collective introduction to music that we otherwise wouldn't have really gotten to hear with the limitations we had in the "early" internet and stuff.
This was actually a phenomenal show. Had excellent music, really cool animation, and was unlike any show at the time, or really ever. Massively underappreciated.
I seen this in my recommended. As a fan of Andre 3000, currently in the music industry and someone who vividly remembers this show, Thank you for the upload. Should definitely not be lost to time.
This show was beautiful, and continues to inspire me creatively. I'm just thankful I was alive and able to experience it when it aired. And I don't think I'm going to forget it, especially since I've been listening to the songs regularly for years!
Oddly enough, I remember this show for the 'Devil went down to Georgia' parody episode, which introduced me to the actual song. Thus this show sticks with me
I grew up in ATL when this came out, I totally remember it but anything related to Outkast is major. I grew up there from 2003-2005. They had block parties for the last Outkast album.
Thank you so much for your perspective on this show. I didn't even know about Class of 3000 until well into my 30's but I am an Andre 3000 fan. I did a random deep dive on his Benjamin Bixby clothing line and this came up, so I bought both seasons and loved them! Wonderful video. :)
I totally remember this show. It was enjoyable and different from the other shows Cartoon Network had at the time (not that the other shows were bad, but this was unique), and I was kinda saddened when I noticed that every time it was on, the same episodes I already watched came on. With the current climate of representation in media, it truly feels like Class of 3000 was ahead of its time.
I'd never heard of it. But anything that introduces children to music is excellent. It sounds like the exceptional talents involved made for a great show.
Bruh I’m almost 30 and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve randomly belted OH PEANUTS WE LOVE YOU BABY Now I’m gonna go listen to those songs again. I watched it during those precious years before puberty, when every family member was still living, and I still lived in the house I was born in. Thank you for reminding me of that time ❤ this show is great on its own but that connection makes it a little sweeter. Also amazing to think another person’s childhood could impact us so. Probably more common than we know, but so enlightening when it’s pointed out
I live in one of the Atlanta-based suburbs and I have SUCH a love for this show. Andre did so good with capturing the spirit of Atlanta in the show. It's a huge melting pot - the students were as diverse as they are and the music styles Atlanta produces can span all over the place. Fight The Blob and Banana Zoo constantly just pop in my brain and it's always a warm welcome. I was 8-10 when watching it and I loved it then and now. I think something about seeing a show for kids your age about kids your age in a city all of 20 minutes away where you can still feel its' influence really truck a chord in me. Thank you for talking about it, I really wish it could get a reboot or even just a special, I think it could really shock populations of people who forgot it existed!
That ending monologue hit me. Thank you for that. Just so sad this show had to end so soon. I remember starting to watch this show as a kid because my big brother told me the show was produced and the MC was voiced by Andre.
Class of 3000 was one of those shows that made me so happy that I played the cello. Kids used to make fun of how big my instrument was and then after this show, lots said they thought it was cool I'd play a cello and make music. Shame it went how it did but it made such a great impact.
Bro, I find myself reminiscing this show from time to time and it's undeniable that it's mostly the music that grabs ahold of me more than the characters. But damn, this was a great reawakening for me. Thank you for that and please keep doing your own thing, as long as you still enjoy it man.
Me and my sister loved this show. I still catch myself singing or humming the songs randomly even all these years later. I liked the art style in general, and I REALLY loved how many of the music videos were even more visually impressive. I cant recall all that many anymore since it's been so long since I've watched this show, but I remember there was a song called "Crayon" and the music video had all the students animated like they were drawn on paper with crayons. I liked drawing pictures a lot as a kid so I guess that's why that one was really memorable to me. My mom really didnt want us to watch this show though, because she knew Andre 3000 was in it and she thought Outkast was a bad influence on us, so we had to sneak watching it when she wasnt around 😂 she also heard the Crayon song and thought it was obnoxious. I never knew about any of the behinds the scenes stuff, including the lawsuit. That's really sad. I always wondered why this show came and went so quickly and why its existence was barely acknowledged in general since then. I really wish this show would have gone on longer.
This is really insightful. Having watched this in Italy, I never knew this show was produced by an actual musician writing through his life experiences. Thank you for covering the show from my childhood that I was so confused disappeared so quickly.
6th grade for English class we had to talk about our favorite songs and then play the song for class. I picked Banana Zoo from class of 3000. Lo and behold UA-cam blocked the connection so I then had to sing it live and accapells in front of my Atlanta middle school class😂. I will forever love this show. This was the first show that when I got a little money I bought my favorite episodes on ITunes. I can still sing most of the songs word for word today. It truly made such an impact on me.
this is one cartoon that shows back then alot of cartoons had originality soul comedy everything that makes a cartoon or show great, its a gem that i grew up watching back when it premiered on cn nowadays you dont find cartoons like that its rare, but some still have it
Ever since I remembered this show about 2 years ago, I've added almost all the songs to my playlists and listen to them regularly. The music in this show is beyond anything else I heard as a kid❤
Ugh, this channel is making me have flash backs like crazy. I guess I did watch a lot more cartoons than I could remember. It just takes that one little reminder on the internet to spark a treasure trove of memories from my childhood for myself. Ahh sweet nostalgia
When this show aired, I was too young to truly appreciate its genius and soul. I just thought it was funny, creative, and it had better musical scenes compared to other cartoons. Perhaps I'll try to find a way to re-watch the show in full, and truly appreciate it in my adulthood.
I know this was about Class of 3000 but your intro made me realize how much I miss Kappa Mikey 😭 I went from hating that show at first to crying when it ended (it was the only show I cried at as a kid, no clue why it had such a grip on me but it did)
I loved this show in middle school! The crayon song was an earworm, "Life Without Music" was beautiful, and I can still hear Philly D shouting, "Look out! He's got a spatula!" 😂
How did I miss THIS video of all videos by you, and I pride myself on watching as many Class of 3000 retrospectives as possible! This show was before its time, and I feel it influenced Phineas and Ferb too. That's how good it was!
I am from Colombia and used to visit the U.S. CN website frequently as a kid. remember seeing promotional material and playing flash games based on this cartoon. I was so excited to watch it, but it was never localized. It’s a shame, I would have loved it.
I was looking this show up because literally nobody ever brings this show up when talking about childhood cartoons. Like people don’t remember it exists
By the way, you could do a good "darker episode" video with the Class of 3000 episode where Lil D gets signed to a record label bit it ends up being a trap trading away his soul and becoming the face for a ham company.
This was one of my favourite shows as a kid though I do recall that it was rare that it ever aired, at least in my area and my parents didn't like me watching it.
I do remember Class of 3000 myself. But I'm sad that CN gives it very little recognition nowadays. It would be nice to see a revival/reboot of the show.
I remember Class of 3000 well. In fact, just this morning I re-downloaded Banana Zoo onto my phone, because I found the source audio rather than just the clip of the show. I listen to the music all the time, and wonder why nobody ever talks about it. It's probably one of the biggest tragedies of animation that Cartoon Network refuses to acknowledge its existence. The last time I remember seeing anything about it was for CN's 20th where they had a poster of the main characters from every show, and Lil D was shoved into the corner. If there was ever any show that needed to come back, it's this one. I am conviced that Class of 3000 got me into music so much more than I ever would have if it had not existed. I tried learning how to play the piano when I was 8 - which was the year the show came out. I certainly learned how to play the drums because of the show. Even beyond music, pretty much every big voice actor had a role on the show, and it also really got me into voice acting - arguably more than music. I'll never forget the different art styles every music video had. Heck, I'll never forget the regular art style that the show used. It had such funny writing that still makes me laugh... I could go on and on about Class of 3000. Definitely in my top 5 all-time favorite cartoons. Heck, probably even in my all-time favorite tv shows in general. There won't be anything like Class of 3000 again. I feel that if anything similar were to ever come about, it would focus too much on an aspect that doesn't mean anything rather than the actual cool stuff like the animation, the writing and the music. 2005-2008 was - in my opinion - the best era for animated shows ever, and this show was definitely one that helped define the era, even if not many people remember it.
Class of 3000 has definitely played a big part in my life that shaped my taste of music and what I'd like to accomplish as a person and an artist. And one of the biggest things that made me love this show was the fact that it was so non-judgemental when it came to the arts. The Blues episode showed this where Lil D didn't think that Eddie would have the knowledge, experience, skill, or soul to play the blues because he was a upper class, privileged, rich white guy living in the good neighborhood, and to play the blues you have to know struggle. Then Eddie just comes out saying "just because I'm rich doesn't mean there aren't things I struggle with or that's impossible for me to be sad, let me show ya" and then proceeded to play a fantastic blues song that he has been struggling to make all episode. I still listen to "A Rich Shade of Blue" to this day
I've never been big on music, but I remember really liking this show as a kid. I thought it was so cool, and loved the art so so so much. I had almost completely forgotten about it, but it crossed my mind just the other day while doing some yard work. Couldn't remember the name, so I'm so glad this video came up in my recommended

I think the best part of Class of 3000 is how much it feels like a love letter to Atlanta music scene and culture.
I wish there was more kids media that treated different music genres with respect like this. I know for me it was one of the things that made me try out jazz, classical and hip hop to name a few.
I always thought Phineas and Ferb used and respected various genres of music well
Without Class of 3000, there would have not musical driving shows or shows with music elements like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe. Or Adult Swim shows like Metalocalypse.
Also, OK KO!
For real. He did it first. Plus he was the first black person to have a cartoon on Cartoon Network.
Metalocalypse debuted months before class of 3000
Also have you never watched the wiggles or blues clues, hannah montana also came out earlier in 2006 than them
Dora in 1999 at that

"Barely remember"
'scuse you but I vividly remember DOING THE CRAYON, CRAYON
I remember this show a very forgotten cartoon that Cartoon Network don't even acknowledge.
I will never forget the episode where little D sold his soul to the devil to make money, by making a jingle for extreme ham.
I was able to find it and purchase it on AppleTv. I love this show soooo muchhh 🥺❤️
I hated all the flash shows, they always look terrible. It really encouraged me to watch the shows that weren't flash though so I'm forever grateful.
Maybe the flash shows were good too idk.
I did like chowder though haha
@@DylanRomanov well of course chowder was great
TDI animation wasnt the best, just that the premise and stoey stuck out imo
But by one person yeah I understand.

dead ass!!
I am SOOOO GLAD someone is talking about this show!! I LOVED it as a kid and was sad when it didn't come on anymore.
Duuude, go for it! I could stand behind that UwU
Jordan your dedication to uploading editing and recording doesn't go unnoticed. We all appreciate it. Keep up the Great work.
Thanks for the support Dylan! 😄 I appreciate it!
@@JordanFringe94 No problem
This video is like a time capsule, you perfectly captured what was going on with cartoons at the time. It felt like everything was changing. Class of 3000 was one of the shows to really stick with me. The episode where Lil' D takes Eddie on a tour through the parts of town he never visited was AMAZING. Nearly every single song in the first season was incredible and hilarious.
My life got a bit...tumultuous when season two aired, so I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but hopefully one day I'll have the time.
Oh, I remember this show. I was lucky enough to find a cd at goodwill and my Playlist includes we want your soul and ufo ninja
The online game Cartoon Network had for this show was pretty fun. Good times...
I was devastated when they took it down! I had a couple of songs saved on there and I was really proud of what I had created.
Kids and Cartoon Network couldn't handle the funk! 😂😂
For me, I always remembered the visuals. That show needs to come back. Kids need this show in their lives.
The dark ages of cartoon Network (2004-2010) produced great hits: camp lazlo, squirrel boy, chowder, flapjack and more
I actually liked Camp Lazlo and Chowder. I have fond memories of them.
The song “all we want is your soul” slaps. Sure there are darker songs but that one hit so much different from other songs.

I love The Crayon Song, Cool Kitty, Banana Zoo, and Oh Peanut.
Not a day goes by where banana zoo doesn’t enter my brain at least once
After all these years, that song still randomly pops into my head
The series that made every kid sign up for Band Class.
Cool kitty still lives in my head rent free all these years later
SAAAAAAAAAAME
Thus this show sticks with me
I was a CN kid growing up. This was one of the few shows that I barely remembered or even knew it existed.
I absolutely ADORED this show, I wish it got a better spotlight during that time on CN
I grew up in ATL when this came out, I totally remember it but anything related to Outkast is major. I grew up there from 2003-2005. They had block parties for the last Outkast album.
This coming from an Atlanta native with a character that had my name ( a first for me) made my life I didn’t care that I was in high school.
Thank you so much for your perspective on this show. I didn't even know about Class of 3000 until well into my 30's but I am an Andre 3000 fan. I did a random deep dive on his Benjamin Bixby clothing line and this came up, so I bought both seasons and loved them! Wonderful video. :)
I miss this show, they should really put it on hbo max
This is a show that I have NEVER forgotten.
To this day I still sing songs from this show. The greatest lesson ever taught on this show was don't sell your soul.
Bruh I’m almost 30 and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve randomly belted OH PEANUTS WE LOVE YOU BABY
Now I’m gonna go listen to those songs again.
I really wish this show would have gone on longer.
as a young MASSIVE outkast fan, I was obsessed.
OH PEANUTTTT, WE LOVE YOU BABYYYY

This is really insightful.
Having watched this in Italy, I never knew this show was produced by an actual musician writing through his life experiences.
Thank you for covering the show from my childhood that I was so confused disappeared so quickly.
I remember watching it but I sure remember how I missed it when it stopped showing on Cartoon Network

This show’s artstyle is so pleasant to look at, omg - I didn’t remember it being so pretty, amazing
I remember it was there, but once it left I didn’t think of it that often.
Ever since I remembered this show about 2 years ago, I've added almost all the songs to my playlists and listen to them regularly. The music in this show is beyond anything else I heard as a kid❤
"PEANUT GLYCERIN" is what I remember from this show
And kappa Mikey was the shit
BOI! I more than remember Class of 3000! I have two songs on my phone and still quote “DON’T TWIST MY WORDS WOMAN!!!”
One of my favorite lines from the show!
Hearing you reminisce about this show... I remember really liking it, shame it was so short lived...awww, now I'm left with a rich shade of blue~
By the way, you could do a good "darker episode" video with the Class of 3000 episode where Lil D gets signed to a record label bit it ends up being a trap trading away his soul and becoming the face for a ham company.
god i LOVED class of 3000. and seeing this video all these years later brings back really great memories. thank you.

This was one of my favourite shows as a kid though I do recall that it was rare that it ever aired, at least in my area and my parents didn't like me watching it.
You don’t how thankful I am that you made a video about such a beautiful piece of art.
Don’t let the views fool you, the people needed this.
I do remember Class of 3000 myself. But I'm sad that CN gives it very little recognition nowadays. It would be nice to see a revival/reboot of the show.
No reboot a revivals yes
Not only do I still remember the show, I still remember the damn theme song
Beautifully said!!
I have VIVID memories of playing a flash game based on this show. I don't remember its name, but it was about creating your own song based on samples.
