I never understood why he let Earl Slick play all the leads in Bowie. Carlos is just as good.

What is wrong with Earl's solos? For sure Carlos played some solos - but Bowie chose the other ones played by Slick or Fripp or Vaughan or Frampton or even Rodgers

Carlos was a rhythm man. No one could play rhythm as good as him. Except maybe Nile Rodgers
