- The winch of my snow plow got ruined by water so I had to change it. I used the winch that was on my trailer and I found out it was actually different in a good way!

Thanks! I am contemplating to get a synthetic rope for the main winch, perhaps a good spring project? What are the advantages according to you?
Looks like you were saddling a" dead horse" with the cable clamps on one side. The saddle that the screws tighten up against needs to be on the long cable and not the short ended cable end. You can check it out on google. Just a suggestion. Great videos on this set up.

Would a 12volt actuator not be better suited for this?
No they can’t handle the shock force that comes when plowing. A 12V hydraulic unit would be great but they are very expensive.
