      Been a fan of Jeffro Tull for years got to see them in 2005 here in the UK. During the lock down decided I'd try and learn to play the flute. I've only just stumbled on this and think you teach this in a very understandable way. Your amazing thanks 🎶

    I received a flute as a birthday gift two weeks ago and I was worried I wouldn't be able to learn anything without a teacher. Also I wasn't sure if there were any Jethro tull flute tutorials online at all. Trying to figure out note by note a song without even knowing how the keys on the flute worked was so difficult I felt guilty I wished for a flute when I wasn't good enough. After a some days I found this video I realized that I almost learnt to play my first Jethro Tull song and that barely half a month has passed since I started. I also checked out lessons by other people but your channel and lessons really encouraged me, please keep doing these tutorials, they are great! (Sorry for my bad english I'm not a native speaker)

      That is fantastic! I'm so glad these videos helped. Keep practicing! With each note and phrase and technique you learn, your confidence (and your joy) will increase. Next lesson will be posted very soon!

    Thank you for posting this clip. I bought myself a used flute this christmas so i am an absolute beginner. 😅 I am not new to music in general... I play guitar since 20 years and bass since 6 years. I also do a little bit drums and learn a bit piano and organ at the moment. Everything selftought...never had lessons. But the flute is total different. I listen to Jethro Tull my whole life because my mother loved them, too. So yeah Mr. Anderson is the main reason i wanted to try out the flute. I can already play some notes so this clip realy helps my progress. Thank you. ✌️🙂

    Well, I can see I'm going be living on this video for a while.... the only major band I saw 3 times in concert while in college in the 70's was Tull. I bought a used flute back then, and after a while played with other people without them noticing how bad I was.
    I put it down after college, and finally bought another this month, from a music store in Miami via the Reverb site. I'm really impressed what great condition it's in... and maybe the gold lip plate will help, lol.
    Thanks for the lesson. As I recall, I used to be able to play (or fake playing) this anthem song. Glad Ian is still around, too.

      @ShroudedDay  2 роки тому

      Cool! Glad you've picked it back up. I'm jealous that you got to see them in the 70s at their pinnacle (three times, no less). Thanks for sharing your Tull tale. Keep on flutin'. Let me know if you have any requests for future videos.

      @@ShroudedDay Thanks! I intend to learn this song, and then maybe at least the first part of Scarborough Fair, which looks more difficult to me. Of course, I only played by ear back in the day, so I want to learn some music now.... I finally was able to hit some low notes after a week or so, lol.
      Seeing Tull was amazing, still my favorite concerts after all this time.

    Nice cosplay. I saw him live back in 2010. Great gig, even if he's gotta lift his toes to hit above a one octave range nowadays he still snorted and spat his way through the flute parts which was fun.

    Brilliant! Your playing and your timing. I have been working on that score for quite a while now during COVID as well as "Locomotive Breath" to perform live with my all chick band, "Bitchin' Boss Babes when that is possible. I was gobsmacked coming across your video yesterday. I practice this score every day working on the singing while playing the flute technique as well. I do need to learn the dirty flute sounds that Ian produced and am looking forward to your next videos continuing this knowledge for "Living in the Past." Please let me know when you post your latest video showing the techniques more complicated parts than Ian played and analyze and play the rest of the score for "Living in the Past."

      @@ShroudedDay I am stoked and can't wait. I have been working too hard on this score not to have the glottal stops, double tonguing, as well as singing, while and playing the flute, as you say, which gives it that flavor. I will be paying attention to your shout-out regarding continuing this brilliant education on the best approach to playing "Living in the Past." I am inspired by your performance of this score and again cannot thank you. enough for sharing your brilliance.
