I love visiting Lviv. Highly recommended. Beautiful scenery, cafes, restaurants and historic sites. I especially recommend the night life. The torchlight parades are a must see. Witness thousands of it's citizens, marching through the streets, arms outstretched, honoring fallen Nazi collaborators. Afterwards witness huge bonfires where Russian literature feeds the fire.

He recently joined together the western Ukrainian segments, and released them as one long-form video. This was filmed long before the war began.

It was a Polish city just 80 years ago.

Lviv was founded by Ukrainian King Danylo and was named after his son Leo some centuries ago before it became a part of Rich Pospolita, that was not only Polish state but a confederation for Polish, Ukrainians, and Lithuanians. Lviv was occupied by Poland only for 19 years after WW1. Anyway all the area were always inhabitied by Ukrainians.

When Lvov was built there was no such concept as Ukraine, that name came later from the east. The region of Lvov was built during the Kingdom of of Halych and Volhynia 1253
When they were United after the Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus.
The Polish rule started in 1340 until 1569.
Between 1569-1772 was the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Then between 1772-1918
Lvov was under the Austro-Hungarian Empire and again between 1919-39 was Polish again until Soviet Union.
Bogdan khmelnitsky and his Cossacks seized Lvov on 1649 but were sent back after 6 years . The older town of Lvov is Not from the Halych era but built by the Polish-Lithuanian government.
Therefore the foundation of Lviv has nothing to do with the concept of Ukraine which comes from the Cossack state of Zaparozhia.
