Same here though for me its been 30 years or so. watched this as a 5 year old back in the early 90's on VHS. what a time to be alive. scary we are coming closer and closer to the time when this is set in.
Really sad that no one creates such anime nowadays (. I feel to be fed up with isekais, harems and other soulless stuff. I miss old school. With plot, characters, details. I don't know. Modern anime looks kinda advanced, but in compare with Bubblegum crisis, AD police files, Genociber and others, they are trying to do everything cheap. What I want to tell. Let's take good old Bubblegum crisis, each episode new enemy designs, motivations, reasons or circumstances, authors are showing to us characters (threw plot we can see that they are in to something, hobbies, work other daily stuff). The city feels alive, detailed.
Back when most anime of old school era weren't too much about op characters or so much fan service and was much more grounded and gave proper character growth or just give out class like bebop or lupin the third. I do miss those times and this is coming from an 2000s person
@@Ginga What I would advise against is the TV series Bubblegum Crisis 2040, but of course you can make up your own mind. I went into it without any expectations and this new interpretation of my favorite anime OVA series Bubblegum Crisis ruined a lot for me. First and foremost a certain character.

Top Tier content. Proud to have grown up with it. Would be a great time for an indie company to make a short action game based off it, showcasing some of the slick animations of Knight Saber movement and the biomechanical evolutions of the Boomer tech. Maybe some short-burst leaping. Maybe a motorcycle power armor calldown like a Titanfall.
They were so ahead of the game. People acted like Iron Man falling off a building and donning his armor falling was such a cool concept when I had seen it already 20 years prior in BGC.
I prefer the VHS version of the song it suited the intro. They took out the sound effect of the knight sabre landing at 1:52 from i think the laserdisk version onwards. Minor gripe but that sound effect was cool!
+kyork888 The difference is between the first episode and the other two. In the first episode, there are no sound effects in the intro, while there are in the other two. This is video is from the first episode.
op was so much better than the show itself, which is a shame and I know it was because of budget cuts that truncated the original Bubblegum Crisis, but still. anyway, this is the perfect opening to a crime thriller. those wailing guitars remind me of Heat.
Crash unfortunately never managed to recapture the magic and finesse of the original OVA. Not a total loss, but far from what the (original) franchise deserved for an ending.
@@lilamacanzie7734 The original OVA had no subtitle. It's simply called "Bubblegum Crisis", with six episodes (running 30-50 minutes) released between early 1987 and early 1991, although the title cards show the nonofficial addition of "Mega Tokyo 2032/33 The Story of Knight Sabers".
Such a beautiful nostalgia watching these openings. The animation is so crisp and clean.
This opening has lived in my mind for 25 years. Any music like this with nighttime "driving in a city" scenes is such a cozy nostalgic thing for me.

Beautiful song, love the intro. I can watch it endlessly.
This series was what got me into anime in the first place. So much nostalgia.
god such an amazing anime, great songs, good story, love it 300%
I have the entire Bubblegum Crisis universe on dvd. Including the prequel that has Leon as a rookie. The music makes the anime.

Discovered the Bubblegum franchise last month and I’m absolutely loving it. Just started Crash.
Bubblegum Crash is the sequel from the Bubblegum Crisis series.

@@kuro-1980 I’ve heard plenty of folks saying it isn’t as good as the original. I might give it a watch one day.

Actually, in ep. 2 of "Crash", Priss is shown trying to call her teammates with a cellular phone, with Project Adama in tow.
In 1988, walkie talkies were the only thing going in regards to cellular technology..
