I lost my husband this past October. I don’t typically listen to country/folk music but I happened to pull some of his playlists off Spotify and came across this song this morning. I cried the entire way to work.
On Father's day it reminds me of my dad in his last days, frustrated at how inable he was, not eager to pass on but ready to. Don't morn his passing, he was more than ready but I miss him
I'm only 35, but sadly closer to the end of my journey than I am to it's beginning. I've lived a full life though... laughed, loved, lost... been a hero, been the villain, paid for transgressions, learned some hard lessons... and wouldn't change a thing! I'll ride this thing as long as my (old before its time) body will carry me. I've got one great worldly adventure left, and I look forward to the day I leave on that adventure, to finish out my days on Earth immersed in nature.
Song from the Nashville based bluegrass band Steeldrivers. It tells the story of an old man going through emotional conflict as he knowingly nears the end of his life
At 72 years old, this song is fast becoming MY song. Only one small criticism of the video: it should be "west of where the SUN SETS (two words, not one)". Absolutely NOT a criticism of the song itself. Chris Stapleton is and was a great artist. First the Jompson Brothers, then the Steeldrivers, now solo.
I think more about how time flies, and when it comes time to depart this old "World of Worry"...at my Age, Disabled with Multiple Health issues, Poor Choices, and Self Medicating..who knows 🤔.but, the Devil 👹aint winning today❤ This song hits home, a kind reminder that not all time spent wasted should be considered wasted time❤ Groovy song 🧡✌️🙏😎

Porqué?😮
I'm 60 , and let me tell you , truer words have never been spoken, you are a Wise man.
Old man in the cover remids me of my dad, retired after 43 years as a welder/pipefitter.
Me too,My dad was also a welder , lost him when I was 7yrs ... I miss the little time I had with him
I don't think I've ever heard anything better.
