- Kurt And Goldie's Beach House Is Unsellable - Celebrity Homes No One Wants To Buy
Have you ever wondered what kind of homes celebrities live in? You might think they have the most lavish and desirable properties in the world, but that's not always the case. Sometimes, even the most famous and wealthy stars have trouble selling their homes, either because they are too expensive, too personalized, or too outdated.
In this video, we will take a look at some of the celebrity homes that no one wants to buy, and try to figure out why they are still on the market after years of listing. Let's get started!
Most celebrities know nothing about the phrase, " less is more."
It's all about "look at me, see how Rich I am, that I can waste 80% of the purchase money purely for the sake of status" !
Saying no one wanted to buy it isn't correct. Very few could afford to buy it.
I don't think I'd ever want to live in a mansion. I like the cozy feel of a small home. Imagine how someone could sneak in, creep around and you wouldn't even know it.
My thoughts exactly!!!😳
Exactly...🙉😮💨🤯
I've always felt that way too.
Most Hollywood celebrities of the 40s and 50s lived in pleasantly generous human-scaled homes.
Oh yikes
Moral of the story-if you build a mansion, plan on keeping it forever.
And when we leave this earth we take none of it with us.
You’re kidding??!! Glad you pointed that out!
Why would anyone need 14 bathrooms in a 5 bedroom house ??? Crazy .
Bladder problems? ;
Best guess is party people. Then again maybe don't hire a cleaner very often, like once every 2 weeks, and have them all cleaned all at once.
I have never, ever understood the need for so many bathrooms. Maybe for when they throw parties--but even that doesnt seem a good enough reason.
Irritable bowel syndrome or Crohn's disease!!😁
That's what I was thinking! Pretentious and show-offy. Silly.
It’s not just paying for the property, it’s the upkeep and staff needed to keep the places running
And real estate taxes and homeowners' insurance.
Along with the electric bill...
My first thought was what it would cost to just have people clean it. Knowing what I've had to pay to fix what goes wrong with my three-bedroom house, I can't imagine the upkeep on something that big.
And.. Real Estate (Property) Taxes!!
That’s Why I had to Sell!! & I Loved my home!!.. Just could not afford to live there!!🥺😢😭💔🙏🙏🙏
Well to be honest if you have the money to buy that kind of house you have it to pay the maintenance
Too many over the top huge homes that don’t bring happiness but only headaches. They were a thing of the past.
Most of those houses could be hotels! Sad that they are empty most of the year
They could let illegals live there
These multiple mansion owners could solve homelessness in America
Can you imagine the taxes on these houses?
The wealthy have so many loopholes they barely pay anything. The rest of us working our asses off every day are supporting our government, not these people.
Nope 😮
The utilities alone cost some big bucks
That was my 1st thought hahaha
Regarding Michael Jordan...if someone can afford that home they're not worried about the cost of replacing a stupid entry gate.
It's location on his. It's too cold in Chicago to retire or live there full time.
That was my thought too.
Chicagoan here. I saw an open house show tour on tv. It’s not just the gate. So much personalization throughout and with MJ’s height, way high sinks, toilets, countertops and the like. It’s beautiful, but making it “your own” a super huge undertaking and expense.
Lol. Really. The entrance gate should be a selling point. Or something to sell!
But, the pudding green! 😉 The b-ball court is big enough for a barracks for a private army.
All these houses are just part of their celebrity. LOOK AT ME! Just gaudy to no end.
It is all about image and how they can impress others. It is also funny and pathetic to see rich celebs playing poor by shopping at Walmart and renting small rustic cabins in the woods.
Most of these overbuilt overpriced dwellings require astronomical amounts of money to maintain. Unless your ego requires such an overstatement of your wealth there's no
reason to own such a money-sink. Absolute waste of resources!!
Being a part of the upper class is a curse. That's why Hollywood is full of weirdoes, nuts, fruits, far-left folks, crime, you get it.
Maintenance.
They would make great hotels/resorts
When you have more money than sense.
Why such a gigantic house with tiny family? And they're probably hardly ever home. Live simply and help in charity.
My Ma always say that if you have a big house you need people to fill it. 👍
It's typical human behavior when glut with lots of money.
You do you boo!
Celebrities waste money like My Children waste toilet paper
Yeah you are so right. So why then should I feel guilty only because I own more than one pair of shoes too while using toilet paper every day instead of calling on my landlord to insist that he install a bidet in that kind of room in my home. So I should feel guilty about both because I am not a celebrity or movie star material? So what if I own more than one pair of shoes like Nelson Mandelas wife used to.
😂😂😂
They are show offs
LMAO!
It’s not what you have ,it’s who you spend it with. Something’s are priceless.
When you have too much money you often make big mistakes likes houses with 14 bedrooms.
Oh those silly mistakes...I'm done we're going to the damn dollar store and finishing the furnishings in them now once and for all!
She probably used most of them for the live-in servants/maintenance/cook, and she probably wanted to have room for guests/family if they dropped by or if she decided to have a family of her own
Their sick and twisted parties utilize all those bedrooms. I wouldn't touch a house any of these people have owned.
Yeah who the hell is going to have that many people over night? Fools and their monies are always parted!🤑🤣
bedroom for each family member for each guests, when you are rich and famous you suddenly have many friends.
Who needs to live in houses that big? It’s ridiculous! I don’t care how rich you are!
Your jealous 😅😅😅😅😅
Someone who expects to entertain dozens of people?
"They" have too much money.
Singer Barbara Mandrell built a giant one also years ago...its now abandoned...
I'm a great grandmother. When my children & grandchildren get together we make up a medium size squad. I have 7 great grandchildren and 4 (adult) grandchildren . On holidays there are at least 30 mouths to feed.
I’d rather have a nice tiny home on a beautiful 2000 acres near the ocean.
I have a very tiny house (under 600 square feet ) on five acres on the ocean. My house is small, but all I need.
2000 acres??
The Cold fog ruins living by the ocean
2000 acres? You think that’s small?
Some of them would make great "Bed & Breakfast" places, wedding venues, corporate retreats Ect. Make the homes make money if zoning/ordinances allow. The celebrity aspect would be a draw.
You are thinking like a businessperson.
@zsigzsag- I agree with you and thought the same thing! For the celebrities who are deceased, their estates could be tied up in court … it’s shocking to think incredibly wealthy people don’t have wills, but Prince, who is considered a genius, died intestate.🤷🏻♀️
They could solve homelessness. Who cares about corporations and narcissistic weddings
Homes sit empty while people sleep in bags.
That’s the beauty of working hard and spending your money as you choose.
That's a sad truth. So is the fact most people won't let their own parents live with them.
But if you let squatters live there they'll trash it. 100% guaranteed, every time.
Actually, its wars are waged while the poor suffer the most.
Sleep in bags on the street and don't have anything to eat.
They might be better off donating some of these homes to charities and take the write-off.
Charities don't want these monstrosities. They're just a financial burden and a huge headache.
Celebrities have worked hard and earned what they have; but alot of celebs do like to give back; and your idea is terrific! Your idea might even inspire one or more celebs to do just what you suggested.
Some worthy causes: St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Children's National, Shriners Hospital for Children, worthy Humane Societies, saving the environment for endangered birds and other animals. Helping worthy causes is good for the heart and the soul. Material things can never fill the void like helping others who truly need and deserve help.
@MichaelScottSelf That's exactly what Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour did after writing a song about the homeless.
Celine Dion’s house should be a resort.
If these homes are so great why were they eager to sell them?
taxes
none of ur f'..in business, is why !
Cuz people want to down size in their old age.. or they need to move for work
Trying to soak a flipper.
Jordan’s house is just ugly. That’s why no one wants to buy it.
Real estate agents always advise to keep your home neutral if you don't always plan to live there.
Yes they do, but I WILL NOT HAVE beige carpeting!!
Hollywood people have egos not brains
❤
Right….so why do rich and so many of the rest of us alike not heed this advise?
These celebrities try to out do the other celebrities. Real Estate is an awesome investment, but not when no one can afford to buy it from you. These celebrities single themselves off the market because of their extravagance.
Celine's home is stupid. What a ridiculous waste of space.
She has 13 brothers and sisters plus their families plus Rene's side of the family. She built it for all of them to use.
Well, she does have 13 brothers and sisters, all of whom have children, grandchildren. They all probably crash at Aunt Celine's place for family gatherings.
She and her husband built it for them and their kids to their taste and they enjoyed it for many years until he got sick then the upkeep was a burden and they no longer went there. It is not stupid, they could afford it and that is what THEY wanted with THEIR money.
14 bathrooms seems a little low to me.
I usually like to have at least 20 bathrooms in my houses.
Wow, FityCent got royally screwed...2 million??? They could have offered him more.
Goldie and Russell as well, but these celebrities went overboard for sure.
I can't stand it when millionaires who never picked up a hammer say "we built it". Yes they "designed" it (with the help of professional designers of course), but they didn't build anything; carpenters worked their butt off to build it and they are taking the credit.
I agree. most those celebrities couldn't tell a screw driver from a hammer. They are useless in society unless they have money to hire someone to everything for them.
You must not be a perfectionist. You cannot imagine the pain one goes through to realize a vision and get quality work done. The person overseeing the work typically carries way more stress than the people just doing the job.
They paid for it and they can say they built it…
These very expensive homes owned by celebrities are hard to sell because besides the expense on a huge house and lot their is going to always be constant maintenance and upkeep. Something always needs to be repaired and replaced. In addition to that their is also sky high rates to pay on insurance premiums for a place that size. Don't forget the gardeners show up weekly to keep the grounds maintained. The Pool service worker comes out to maintain the swimming pool. Lots of expenses.
Average maintenance cost is $6-7,000 a year! So these houses $150-250,000 a year! Most wealthy people don't advertise it, it makes them targets!
P
The gardeners show up weekly for you and me but for them it's likely to be twice a week.
Buyers at these prices can afford maintenance, renovations and taxes. Unless their ego gets in ahead of their accountant.
Not to mention the number of maids to clean all the time!
Celine bought for 7 and sold for 28 only 10 years later and is upset it. and it was a dream house? why sell it?
It wasn't big enough for her and her ego both.
She is alone and very ill.
Because her husband is dead, her kids grew up and she has a terrible ---and eventually fatal--- disease that has destroyed her life; for this she needed to sell and realise as much cash as possible.
Oh the troubles of the wealthy.
Yes …we are weeping. 😅
Yep, boo woo!
I sure do think they have them, and they can keep them. Many have wealth ''hard earned", as in a lot of strings.
Pathetic isn’t it?
Don't worry most of us won't have that worry 😊
Most of these houses are simply far too large. A few could be hotels. Lots of money and not a lot of sense. Being greedy is another factor. When selling the estate agents always recommend a neutral palate and remove most personal effects. Jim Rockford wouldn't have that problem with his trailer .😁😁
Michael Jordan should start a school with emphasis on sports
This comment has 23 likes 👍 😅
This would be the perfect property for it. Plus, the students would love the 23 on the gate, MJ's trophies & memorabilia and the chance to meet the man himself. Legend for these kids to say they went to school at his estate.
I would rather live in Rockford's trailer
Bingo! The rich think status will make them happy. But all it does is point out their flaws.
Homey feel to it also.
Ha! Dropped in a public parking lot in front of a beach .
Me too !
😊
This is what happens when you have to much money. I don't feel sorry for them. When the rest of us can barely survive.
These need to be bed & breakfast places
No worries. Squatters will take care of everything.😂
It's like building a custom chopper. The OC choppers were going for 80k new,now you can pick up one for 7 or 8k.
And that's too much, from what I've heard. I don't know how you can screw up building a motorcycle but apparently they found a way.
@tr7b410 Yeah, because chopping a perfectly good motorcycle is vandalism.
People don't need such massive homes. Would like to see the light bill. Just buy a forever home . 7k sqft at the most
Thanks, Castro😂
Then why did Celine sell her place if it meant so much to her?
Might have something to do with her health.
Her husband died. Also her health took a toll, Life Happens
too large, expensive and odd, in many cases....and in some cases, in places "regular" people have no interest in living ...some should be donated to colleges or converted into some public use...
In both cases you mentioned to donate, many would say no thank you, I can't afford this gift. Our organization wouldn't have enough money to maintain it. It would just be a big ol' headache for us.
Colleges would be the last entity to receive a donation from anyone - money grabbers who are teaching young adults to be non-thinking robots like that don't deserve the benevolence of anyone...
Colleges don't need any more money. They are getting rich off of silly children taking out predatory loans for worthless degrees, rich alumni and Russian and Chinese oligarchs pushing cultural rot.
Celine Dion should take her Jupiter Island compound and turn it into a hotel with thirteen bedrooms and water park!
Yeah, and let illegal migrants stay there!
Oh no . She will turn it into a surgery ward for children getting gender transition mutilation . Let that be her legacy .
It looks like too much.
Or a migrant camp for Haitian ‘elites’. Same attitude with ALL of them. “We don’t want you unless you are carrying a leaf blower or a vacuum cleaner” and DeSantis is flying Haitians to them. Cannibals???
James an’t keep up her end - Newsom’s VP choice? Not likely. Willis is out. It’s up to Smith & Bragg. Former porn star Stormy Daniels AGAIN???? REALLY?? That’s ALL THEY HAVE?????
Why do people build these homes that are built for them and no one else.
Because they can
💰 money 💵 honey, that's why !..
Good health is true wealth!
🎯💯‼️
Rich humans are so wasteful.
Exactly and not one of them care for the climate grift they are pushing.
Almost any house will eventually sell if it is appropriately priced. If the owner wants to sell they can lower the price repeatedly until they find a willing buyer. If there are ego's in the way that won't help to sell the place. It also doesn't matter how much the owners have spent to decorate, furnish and remodel. Those kinds of investments in homes seldom pay dividends, especially in high end homes.
gosh, i feel so sorry for these poor rich people that can't sell their stupidly extravagant homes.
my old small house has been paid off for several yrs & that is how I saved a small fortune, but I would refuse a free(liberal- California) mansion
Why the hell do you need 14 bathrooms with 5 bedrooms…??
14 bedrooms seems a little low to me.
I usually like to have at least 20 bathrooms in my houses.
It’s a big problem not only for upkeep but you have property taxes and paying for all utilities and maintenance costs landscaping costs pool upkeep this costs a lot of money 💰 to keep you may have community service costs
And cleaning crews, lawn crews and washing all of THOSE windows!
It looks like the more bathrooms you have, the more important you think you are.
Yeah, you'd need their income to afford the toilet paper to fill 14 bathrooms! 😂
almost everyone of those places are in high tax states. one in Jupiter is over the top and a huge headache.
Imagine the property taxes on these houses?!
Obama house price not the only thing slashed ☠️
Taxes are outrageous too
Bingo
To 50 cent “ A FOOL AND HIS MONEY WILL SOON PART”
What is wrong with people who think they need mega-mansions? Excess on top of excess. Why? I don't get it.
It makes people feel like they’ve reached the top….and they have. Then, they reach a point, in their life, where they’re not making the kind of money they used to make when they first bought the home and now it’s time to get rid of it. A lot of these wealthy folks can certainly absorb the loss BUT it’s got to hurt knowing that you lost millions. I would buy a 100 acre piece of property in the mountains somewhere and build a small, two story log cabin with a fireplace. As years go by and you need some money….you sell off 10 acres here and 10 acres there. A friend of mine did that and she’s living very well. She bought 25 acres in northern florida and placed a new double wide on it. She’s been there for years with all her animals. She sold off 5 acres recently and got a nice price. She’ll live well for another several years on her now 20 acres and since she’s up in her 70s shell live out her life on her little farm….by the time she passes, she’ll probably have about 5 acres left.
I thought Obama was worried about "globa warming" and the sea level rise. Hypocrite😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
You are absolutely correct. Most of these celebrities lecture us on "the environmental crisis" and sustainability, yet demonstrate their hypocrisy all the time.
Hes worse than a hypocrite
It’s SO simple, sophisticated and intelligent true wealth have absolutely nothing to do with USA real estate, there are FAR much more beautiful and civilized real estate properties worldwide…
The wealthy create a lot of waste in a time when people are struggling to survive. It’s really disgusting but it’s how things have always been. That’s how it is. The wealthy will always flaunt.
This is NOT fair - the USA has many beautiful places to live, both in our mountains and along our beaches and coastlines.
Look at Goldie. This is what 77 years old looks like now.
With lots of Botox, fillers, and facelifts!
With lots of cosmetic surgery…
And plastic surgery!
Yeah, right
Love Goldie
Malibu will eventually be under water.
I'd never want to live in the desert in the middle of nowhere.
Good no noisy neighbors.
Poor Celine, she only made 21 million on the sale of her house lol
Probably spent that much on the remodel
Well, she probably parted with $20 or $30 million in custom additions.
Guess we know where the next squatters are headed
Yoko Ono is the latest to say she’s done with New York City.
The 91-year-old is choosing to spend the rest of her life in a rural upstate New York farm that she and her late husband, John Lennon, purchased together in 1978, according to the Daily Mail.
Upstate New York is so beautiful. But you have to be rich enough to deal with the cold, isolation and access to a substantial hospital. People declare their properties farms so as to not pay property taxes. She is in Franklin not far from Oneonta which is a college town. I went up there in the 1960's, 1970's and1980's when I was a teen and young man. You have to be wealthy to deal with the cold, heavy snows and lack of services; but she can afford it. I would imagine at 91, she wants to be safe and isolated. I believe she is wheelchair bound but am not sure. I consider her move to be "smart".
So that means that at 91 years old she will be dead in like 8 hours .
We shall see.
can you tell me more about"People declare their properties farms so as to not pay property taxes."?
AT one time she owned one of the US"s largest dairies, and had Holstein genetics from Canada she paid millions for: Quality, not quantity. I'm wondering if this is the same farm?? Ono came from extreme wealth: she had big money when she met John.
DAMN.
This is why if you are making massive money just get a home that fits for your family not showing off!
Poor Rich People.
What did she need 13 bedrooms for? 😮
Her or his family members, friends too...???
Boredom and watching Chip and Joanna on the Magnolia network....they get a HEY moment and off they go unleashed!
she must have a lot of boyfriends
Rich people forget to remember who put them there. 🤑
They should be ashamed at all the resources, water, power, materials, etc., that they selfishly consume.
At least, the people who fixed them, got jobs
Wouldn't want to wash all those windows. It would be like painting the Golden Gate Bridge.
Why in the world does a person need 15 bedrooms and/or 15 bathrooms??? Makes absolutely no sense to me.
You can't take any of it with you when you die.
You’re kidding! Thanks for pointing that out! lol 😂
Keep saying "dream home" that nobody wanted to buy.
They have all the money in the world, but are selling.
Doesn't sound like a "dream home" if your trying to sell it and sell it for a discount.
More like a bad investment.
This is so sad. Thank you for letting the public know about these heartbreaking tragedies. 😢
It must be nice to own such a beautiful and lavish estate. Me I would be happy with a 4 bedroom 3 baths. Much like what I already own. I would not know what to do with such a large house.
1500 sq ft. 2 BR, 1.5 bath, and dirt cheap to heat, insure, low taxes and almost no maintenance. All I need is a maid once a week to vacuum the dog hair.
I’d take Lauer’s house for 8m. I mean it’s not the house that abused women. It’s Matt. I’d just do a ceremony and move on.
How did Obama buy such an extravagant property at a presidential salary? Speaking engagements can't pay that much.
They’re grifters just like biden’s and clinton’s.
Isn’t that where the “drowning” occurred
Yap! The community organizers surely do not make that kind of money ...
Corruption. All Democrat politicians are corrupt bad people. That is a fact.
He's written a couple of bestseller books too! Michelle made a lot of money before
GOOD! It is no doubt the taxes, which must be exponentially high!
Over kill, but anyone can change it if they really can afford it.
My heart goes out to all this stars that can't sell their homes. They won't be able to eat and will be out on the streets. Pity...
ex rapper MC HAMMER built a lavish mansion in Fremont, CA. He went bankrupt and the house sat empty for quite a while. He has moved to the suburbs to a regular house and is a pastor. Nothing like the lavish living style he once enjoyed.
The rich&
Wealthy
Live in self made
Prison.
Prison really ?. I would be more than happy 😊 to live in that kind of Prison !.....
Some of these houses are good investment eg.. turning them into a Private School for the Rich or a Fancy Hotel
Yeah you guys.....living the dream until you are trying to sell it and now you're in nightmare
Turn these houses to hotels! Even with money I would had not pay 20 mil if that!
Often these places are abandoned after setting empty. There is no reason anyone needs huge mansions like these. Such a waste when they are abandoned.
Save your money people
Can you imagine what it cost to keep the upkeep and the taxes every year and that alone you have to be rich!!!.
Hey...where did that ocean view come from at JLows NY penthouse ?
And NYC is under siege.
of that LA traffic in the hamptons?
That's what I said😄
😂I wondered too. Very confusing
You didn't notice the nice view of the brick wall with windows 30' away to look into her apartment?
Celine's waterpark and slides just didn't speak "home sweet home."
I used to pass some huge homes in Denver. I always thought they were only good for an orphanage. These homes are even bigger.
I’d buy Goldie and Kurt’s place. It is my favorite❤.
If you have that kind of money to blow, I’m sure they would love to talk to you !
That’s the one home that I think would have happy energy ❤
MANY ROOMS = MANY ROOMS FOR THE BOOGEY MAN AND GHOSTS TO HIDE IN AND HAUNT
LOL
Especially in 50 cents house 😬
Possibly squatters and or migrants to hide in.
Wow I'd buy Frank's house with all his things still in it. The history, photos Wow!
You would have to scrub all the semen stains off the ceilings and walls before you could even think about moving into that cat house . He was a real tool with the skanks !
@BagladyNH Buy that house and you could charge for tours.
Agreed.
I like the isolated location and all the woodwork in the home.
It's probably haunted, like inside Liberace's.
Or could it be the Malibu home is in California it seems like nobody wants to live there no more 😅
TAXES!
To many bathrooms to keep up😊
@barbaraaspengen9810 I don’t think that anyone buying those mansions are cleaning bathrooms! lol 😂
if you don't shit in them, no need to clean them.
You could go 2 weeks without flushing!
I know . . .... you could use a different one everyday , and not have to repeat it for two weeks !!!!! ;-)))
Can you imagine selling your home for ONLY $30M instead of 72?? How tough would this be ??
No one needs a house like these.
