Great...Enjoyed...I am an aged person watching Sri TMK sir , since he was 18 & Sri Sankaran sir , since 1957 , and also passion at that time for Sri Palghat Raghu & Sri Umalayapuram Sivaraman , didcuss with my young friends .Namaskaram to all
I was fortunate enough to attend this extraordinary, deeply moving concert, because I am now in Chennai. Of the more than a thousand concerts that I have attended in the last sixty years, there were quite a few excellent concerts, a few extraordinary concerts, and a few (about 10) so heavenly and deeply touching that they left deep impressions and have permanently occupied a corner of my mind. Sri T M Krishna's concert he gave in Kochin in April 2017 was one such concert, this is another. In the website rasikas.org, a rasika described this concert as "A concert for gods"; I agree. But those humans who are lucky enough to hear it can enjoy it also, immensely. T M Krishna's concert, usually rich in both sowkhya bhaava and raaga bhaava, was even richer in bhaava here, perhaps because he sang a padam and four javalis. And because he sang from the heart, at slow tempo, bhaava automatically came through. At a concert of Padams and Javalis arranged by CMANA in New Jersey, vidushi Smt Rama Ravi, who had learnt many padamas and javalis from Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt Brinda, explained that padams are usually sung at a slow tempo, with more raaga bhaava than the way krithis are sung. In the 1930s and 1940s, vocalists usually sang a few padams at every concert, she said, and often sang a padam as the main composition of a concert. But these days, because singing very fast, with a torrential flow of swaras, is in vogue, singing with bhaava is given less prominence. TMK sang three Javalis and a padam in this concert. That is precisely the reason, I think, that this concert seemed so rich in raaga bhaava and sowkhya bhaava. Sri Sriramkumar played violin wonderfully well, as he always does. Whenever he accompanies TMK, he contributes pleasantness to the concert. Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri Trichi Sankaran played in his own unique style, of course, and played very well. His thani avarthanam was excellent. Sri Anirudh Athreya played Kanjira very well also. An altogether extraordinary and deeply moving concert. For those who wish to know what krithis, ragas, padam and javalis were sung, here is the list. 1. Kaarubaaru seyuvaaru, Mukhari Raga, Thyagaraja Swamy 2. Smara sundaranguni Sari evvare, Paras raga, Javali, Dharmapuri Subbaraya Aiyyar 3. Adhi neepai marulu konnadira Rama, Yamuna Kalyani raga, Javali, Dharmapuri Subbaraya Aiyyar 4. Poorvikalyani, very brief, introductory alapana, Panne Panne poojai, followed by Varali alapana by Sriramkumar, and Kaa vaa vaa, Sri Papanasam Sivan kriti 5. Bhairavi alapana, and Rama Rama prana sakhi, Padam, By Kshetragna 6. Suruti raga alapana, and Kalyani alapana, followed by Enthati kuluke intiro, Javali by Dharmapuri Subbaraya Aiyyar 7. Kapi alapana, Suma sayaka vidura, Swati Tirunal 8. Thyagaraja paalayashu mam, Gowla raga, Muthuswamy Deekshitar Yesh Prabhu, Mylapore, Chennai
Sir I wanted him to render as part of Ramnad Krishnan special another mukhari kriti Emani nE by subbaraya sastri. This song has been rendered by Ramnad Krishnan quite impeccably. TMK already has made an album record of karubaru which is readily available. I would have been delighted if he had sung Emani nE instead of kArubAru.
@@bhargavram3480 . Hi Bhargav Ram. Yes, Emani ne is a beautiful kriti; several vocalists have sung it, including Sangeetha Kalanidhis M S Subbulaxmi, and Brindamma. So is Ksheenamai tiruga of Thyagaraja. But Enraikku Shiva krupai varumo, steeped in bhakti, by the great Shiva bhaktha Neelakanta Shivan, and Sri Thyagaraja's Entani ne varnintunu Shabari bhagya, super rich in bhaava, are the two pillars of Mukhari raga I love so much. Every time I hear them, if rendered with bhakti and bhaava, I feel my heart strings getting pulled.
Anirudh is a lucky fellow to sit on this stage. He has to be ready to play, but not getting the right moment to support the Mridangist. Mridangist himself is completely drowned and is playing enthusiastically even at this old age!. This is real bliss to do something that you like the most and will never be a strain.
sankaran mama is always a treat to watch and hear his mridangam ahah wat a naadham and wat a right side left side combination with ghumki ahah pranams to sankaran mama
An excellent concert throughout. The Krithi in Bhairavi is the first time I am hearing. I fully endorse the remarks of Mr Yesh Prabhu in the Replies heading. I am a big fan of TMK. Somehow I missed this concert all along.
This concert clashed with Abhishek Raghuram's in Vani Mahal which I chose to go to. I was so upset of missing this one of TMK's. Not anymore. Thanks for posting this. Refreshing Palani style mridangam. TMK is great. OSATTHI.
The children also are singing well with you without seeing notes. You are too good to serve carnatic music to this generation though they are poor! Good seva mind. Carnatic music must go to each and every corner to the children.May god bless you with a healthy, wealthy, happy and prosperous long life Thiru.T.M.Krishana sir. I am aged. Sorry sir. I am too old. I don 't know how to call him. He is like a great grand son for me.yes i must told him red colour sihyaa.i am so sorry to use the word fellow. I dont know the meaning in tamil for that word. Once again i asked sorry for that. Thanks for show me the wrong.
@Prasanth Quick question. Can you tell apart a mukhari from a kharaharapriya? Because if you can do atleast that, I think you wouldn't give a damn about what TMK does outside of this concert and would just listen to the incredible music.

As usual, TMK always explores creative ways to present his extensive vocal art , which we greatly admire.

So what? No big deal. Let your vision be wide and mind broad.
You moron, what will you do with Christian/Western import the violin?
