By far the best Endaro I have heard. Being among my favorite compositions, I have listened to almost every leading artist rendering this. Yet, MDR surpasses everyone, in my opinion, by a distance. Absolutely unhurried and elegant; feels as though the music is urging him to render while he takes his time... Deep gratitude for uploading these gems. You are rendering great service to music listeners. Thank you.

I am a banker by profession, but love Carnatic music. MDR is incomparable, a true Naadopaasaka. None can reach his Bhava or the tranquility while rendering. Even a layman can pick each and every word of the lyric, as it was his habit to sing in his own unique slow pace. In this fast paced world of quickies with Twenty Twenty cricket and Chetan Bhagat's fiction, his music takes us back to the era of 5 day Test cricket and Leo Tolstoy's novels. The faithful followers to his unique style of music is increasing, because like all maestros he was versatile and transcends time & generations to come...Thanks a lot Mr.Namboodiri for making this available, I am blessed by your effort.

This morning we watched Asianet News Yathra programme on MD Ramanathan. In it poet K Satchidanandan says it was when he first listened to Samaja Varagamana in Hindola by MDR he recognized how different he was from others. Thanks for this link, we listened to it with utmost attention, in silence.

This layavinyasom[elegant word for uncouth Thani coined by Shri M Chandrasekaran saar]is a testimony to Shri TVG's love and respect for eMDeeyaaR; he poured his Thripunithura heart for his friend Manjapra Devesha Ramanathan as his fellow Keralite from Chalakkudi [now town] man "Narayanaswami" listened on !!! ha ha ...

Shri Chalakkudi never got the accolades he richly deserved while living; being a Kerala-native living in some distance from Madras[nowadsay'a Chennai] did not help him achieve them. But -- he lives for ever in the minds of serious rasikas.

I love his balance and clarity. But I have a serious conflict of opinion - no body has the rights to add words into the works of the greats like Tyagaraja Swami or Dilshithar. In this Kruthi, he sings - (poorna)chandudu and has done similar things with Meenakshi Memudam Dehi } he would have added Rajamathanga (Thanaye). Nether of the words in the brackets are part of Sahityam right, I look at it as a Gayaka Dosha to do such a thing.

You may be right from the perspective of traditional vocalists. MDR was quite different, he always tried to improve/refine the composition. If you hear his recitals, each time they are different, making each recitals unique, even for the same composition, one example is "Samaja Vara Gamana" in Hindolam. I am not an advisor. But, if you are hearing MDR for the first time or only a few times, make it a point to hear his recitals with utmost patience and as many times. The great MDR is probably one amongst the rare musicians who took pain to study the South Indian languages to gain more understanding and grasp of the "sahitya" or lyrics. You will understand that his small additions to each composition are the most apt, and has not distorted the meaning or intention of the composer of the "kriti" in any way. Many music lovers admired his depth of music and rendition style, and that is the reason why the great comments appear below this video. If you closely watch the program you could hear the "wow" gestures from the audience showing its great acceptance. MDR Sir has to his credit over 300 compositions in South Indian Languages and Sanskrit, and some are recited by great vocalists and have become popular.

@@raveendranmadappattu5881 namaste. After 3 years I’m happy to stand corrected in my opinion. I heard this one comment on him recently - when he sang he was completely with the composition, the composer and the deity to the fullest sense. More than anything MDR knew what he was doing, what might be wrong when others do is very appropriate and apt when MDR does this, at least I’m convinced why. No more complains 🙏🏻🙏🏻
