Brilliant. Thanks. This is very useful in more than just enlarging AI images. It might save someone's life by a mile like mine who has the knack of starting off their illustration work in lesser dpi and then regret I ever existed.
We miss you Paul - It has been 6 months since your last upload and UA-cam is not the same without you and your videos, come on put down the Martini and come back, please.
Thanks a lot, Paul! As always, you explained it so well. Especially a topic that many underestimate since it often looks better on the monitor than in print.
I have been trying to understand upscaling and dpi's for ages! I couldn't figure out how to get the edges sharp in colouring images. It all just clicked in my head! Thanks, Paul.
Thank you for sharing the Bigjpg tool. I've been using that tool exclusively for my KDP art work for quite some time now. Just taking these extra steps will make a huge difference in reviews, especially when it comes to coloring books. Great video as always. 👍
Thank you soo much! I have invested a lot of time into this type stuff recently, learning as I go, and you have been extremely helpful and knowledgeable! Thank u!
Some sites were known to steal images and sell as their own vector icons or image bundles. Even if TOS claim they don't save images, it's still a concern.
Thank you very much, valuable information, you are awesome 👏 👏 this is for AI generated images that the dpi's are lower that the 300 dpi required by KDP. Thank you Sir ❤
Hi there- I’m a big fan of yours- I love your content! So helpful! I was wondering if you could do a video on how to edit a book or a book cover after it’s already been published..? I feel like I may have to be editing a bunch of my covers after I update the images. - thanks!
If your book has already been published and is live, you just have to go into your bookshelf, find the book, click "edit book print details" on the three dots to the right of the book then upload the new book cover / or interior.. whichever you are changing.
I've been dealing with this, but these are my own digital drawings. I couldn't figure it out. It's not just my cover it's my pages, as well. Thank you so much
This is an extremely helpful video. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain! Hoping you can help sort out one question I have- I’ve generated coloring book images using mid journey, then upscales per your video on bigjpg, next Im importing the images into Canva to do minor editing, to include using the magic eraser feature to remove some nuances. It appears editing the picture in any way is degrading the quality of the image. I’m noticing pixels. - how can I be sure the image still meets KDP quality standards, and is there a better way to go about editing post upscale images?
Thanks for tour advice. I follower you from Italy and for me you are one of the best. Curiosity: do you have to do the same job and also bring black and white pictures to 300dpi?
Hi Paul, thanks for this video, it’s useful as usual . I’ve a question: do you think this would work for A+ content too? A+contents created on canva appear blurry and low quality !! Thanks!
Thank you. I benefited a lot from you. I started publishing, thank God, but why can't I put pictures of the content of my book, and how can I do that? Thank you and very much appreciated.
Hey hi! I've noticed that some notebooks, journals and planners on Amazon offer a variety of cover designs, all within the same category. For example, I've seen planners with over 10 different color and pattern options, all for the same book . Can you please let me know how to achieve this? I'm curious to learn how to provide multiple cover choices without having to create separate book listings. Thanks so much for your help
That is not possible with KDP unfortunately and those books you refer to weren't published via KDP. They have them created themselves and sell via an Amazon Sellers account.
Great video. If I created my book's cover image in Photoshop at 300 dpi and then inserted it into Canva, then downloaded the finished product as a flat PDF, do I have any concerns? I looked at the file I uploaded last night and it looked good when magnified, but I defer to your expertise.
It would depend on the size of the image you got from Photoshop. For example if it was a 1 inch by 2 inch image with 300 dpi downloaded from photoshop and you had to enlarge it to fit on say a 8.5x11" cover then the image would be no longer 300dpi. If the image is the same size as the cover or you had to shrink it down then that would be fine.
Thanks, Paul; I used the upscale feature and the --ar 9:11 so they came out full-sized. Dropping them into Photoshop into a page template with 300 dpi worked keeping the quality high. @@paulmarles
Question with AI art here. With latest Supreme Court ruling stating you couldn't copyright AI generated art, how does this impact this type of KDP business? Or does it at all?
Great video as I'm struggling with my midjourney images..... I tried to convert to SVG on My Design but Canva won't let me upload them says not compatible or file is corrupted? Thank you
I quite like your content, but you make a fairly prominent mistake here by focusing on the DPI instead of the total amount of pixels.... Apologies in advance for the caps: THE DPI OF AN IMAGE DOES NOT MATTER!... The DPI is essentially nothing else than a zoom factor for your pixel image file. The same image can be set or saved at 72 DPI and print blurry but large on paper or set/saved at 300 DPI and print a lot sharper but much smaller on the page (as you rightfully show/explain in the video). Just because an image is 300DPI does not mean it is larger or will print better than a 72DPI image. People see an image, look for the 300 DPI and think they are safe and completely overlook a better 72 DPI image with far more pixels. A 72 DPI could have over 4000*4000 pixels and a 300 DPI image could be just 300*300 pixels. I know you understand how this works and which image will print better, but maybe your viewers might get confused: The image with the higher amount of pixels will ALWAYS print better, DPI is nothing more than a zoom factor.
There isn't a way to tell the exact dpi. You could work it out by working out the size of the image, how much you have to shrink it in size and then work out the dpi.
I finally got a book uploaded that's selling! BSR rank of 48,000-something and ten copies sold in its first week! Thanks for your advice!
Fantastic, that's a great result. Well done. 👍

Thanks for sharing. Do you also do that step for the coloring books interior images?
It is advisable to.
Thanks for tour advice. I follower you from Italy and for me you are one of the best. Curiosity: do you have to do the same job and also bring black and white pictures to 300dpi?
It is advisable as KDp does say the interior images should be 300dpi.

Is there a video that you have done that addresses removing grey scale from images created using AI?
Hi Paul, thanks for this video, it’s useful as usual . I’ve a question: do you think this would work for A+ content too? A+contents created on canva appear blurry and low quality !! Thanks!
Can u use svg in canva ? For coloring book?

So using that software not affected the size of the image? Because usually when w increase dpi manualy, they output is gonna bigger size.

Thanks , I have a question If we can put quotes in interior book without problems?
You have to check that the quotes are not copyrighted or trademarked.
Question with AI art here. With latest Supreme Court ruling stating you couldn't copyright AI generated art, how does this impact this type of KDP business? Or does it at all?
It means other people could theoretically use your images. For myself that's not an issue but would be an individual choice.
Great video as I'm struggling with my midjourney images..... I tried to convert to SVG on My Design but Canva won't let me upload them says not compatible or file is corrupted? Thank you
Normally .svg images are ok on Canva.
Why would you not want to use the vector image on Canva? I apologize if you mentioned that in the video and I missed it.
Yuo can upload a vector image in Cnava but you can't edit it or treat it as a vector image. It treats it the same as a .png or .jpg image.
When I try to bring it back into Canva it says the file is too big!?
I quite like your content, but you make a fairly prominent mistake here by focusing on the DPI instead of the total amount of pixels.... Apologies in advance for the caps:

isnt it straight forward to just open the image in photoshop and change image to 300DPI?

Sir for kdp books wheather we need to give copyright?
You need the commercial license.
@@paulmarles thank you sir
How do you get 300DPI?
When? When creating your images or creating your pdf?
I thought using AI generated images was a big no for Amazon KDP. You might get your account blocked. Is it true?
Not that I've heard of or experienced.
Well duh.
