A couple comments about min-max shards. 1) you don't have to pick up shards in the time limit. You can quickly kill in the time and rerun the loop to pick up stuff 2) if you REALLY want a high score, you can single target all the normal mobs leaving Blue +. Then switch to a massive AOE.build to get the Blue + 3) kill streaks matter, when the curse ends you get shards equal to the kill streaks (up to 300 ish) 4) run the same loop, pre plan your route so you know where towers typically spawn and you know where your turns out 5) party up and keep close, drops from your party help Finally: if you are in Alliance contribution helps show Alliance leader know your clan is active and deserves a tower, if they need to share a claimed tower
you only need 400 shards to get max contrubution points. only time you need to collect a lot is when you competing for the towers but then you should run in party to get more.
Some improvements: 1. You don't need all e pets on every content (mostly raids now, like helliquary/gauntlet/vanguard). 2. Up to 2 pets on open world/questing/Dungeons is more than enough 3. Tower and Elder rifts are similar in what you can setup your build. In what I've came up to, to be more effective, is Wraith(speed pants) + scythe (MH that creates 2 circling around you) + corpse lance (one helmet, I preferred the exploding one, off hand that you create the spike storm around you), 4th skill as you prefer (since I use mine on weekly elder rifts, I use bone armor with the +30% speed for the group too). 4. Towers, when farming for the 3 chests, you don't need to go over 400 shards: 4.a. In terms of Shards = Chest Progress: 50 = 100; 200 = 200 ; 400 = 300. 4.b. You don't need to 'walk all the way back' to the middle, when you want to turn the shards in. Just use the door near the minimap, if you're outside of the middle area, you'll instantly get teleported to it. 4.c. The killing streak actually 'drops' extra shards, once you teleport in, if you had it up. 4.d One way to speed farm the 3 chests is to move to a tower, activate it, getting 50+ shards (kill stuff, grab from other towers, etc) AND 50+ on the KILL STREAK, click the door to teleport to middle then IMMEDIATELY MOVE AWAY from where you got into, so you don't pick up the extra shards. First turn in thos 50+ you got, then grab the ones from kill streak that dropped on the ground and turn those in too. This way you get 100+100 progress every 50 shards + 50+kill streaks. 4.e. You can improve 4.d by, let's say, getting 400 shards and 55+ kill streak, then port in, move away fast, so you don't imediately pick up the extra shards, turn in those 400+, get the extra and turn them too. This way you get 300+100 chest progress. Ofcourse, to use the latter strategies you HAVE TO DISMISS THE PET, and practice grabbing the stuff yourself, then put it back in the active slot when done with the weekly farm.
Also use corpse lance with the vortex perk on shield use the dark curse that follows u and increase crit chance you’ll be able to just run thru kill n grab without stopping. Also keep golem for tank either poison or the new one I average about 1300 each run
Echo, there's still an issue with those tower rewards, and for a long time. Whenever the 4th reward seems to bring a Demonic remain, we only get the other 3 'base' ones. It's been there for so long, and pretty much no one speaks of it, that it seems even the devs either forgot about it or don't care.
If you're just trying to cap your 3 free chests per tower there is no incentive to pick up more than 500 shards. I believe it is 500 that maxes the amount of progress towards a chest you can get in one run. If you're fighting to purify and win a tower, then you'll want to maximize shards with a 4-person team.

Hi Echo! Im not playing necro personally, Im all heart barbarian but one of my friends play with a build, which makes his necro damn fast. I would say equal with barb while using sprint. I believe you can find easly that build on YT, in other content creators video'sGood luck man !

You only need all 3 pets in raids/gauntlet/vanguard, everywhere else, you can deal enough high damage with 2, wraith on one slot (with that pants in most other pve builds, like elder rifts and DGs), and sometimes armor (imune for pets only, imune charges for all, electric, etc). In elder rifts I dropped all pets, to fully use corpses, still with those pants on wraith, 2 circling scythes (Main Hand) and circling corpse lances (off hand).
That was more of a how not to run towers, would suggest you learn from your whale friends how to run that tower because so much wrong with that video. Any new people find another tower video to understand that was horrible.

If setup correctly Necro is the fastest class. Most of the time I can get 1800+ shards solo.

Each zone u enter spawns the crystals just like the pillars and even if time ends go back thru and you can collect the ones you missed

if you set nec to run it is fast, then just run tower to tower, then after time expires go back and pickup shards. should get you 1300+
