I stopped putting heat on my hair 2 years ago and it’s helped so much with getting my curls back without a big chop. Also I use the same Shea moisture mask every Sunday and it works wonders! 💜

How do you get your hair trimmed? Because my stylist before I cut off all my hair she use to straighten my hair to trim it. Honestly I think she was the one that caused me heat damage. I already had colored ends but curls were also intact before I went to her smh.

Exact same thing happened to me. I got heat damage and thought I needed a big chop. After 2 years of frustration and hating my wash n go’s. I gave up and decided to become a straight natural. Since I was wearing it straight and not caring about the curl pattern I decided to get a cute layered cut with bangs. Turns out a 2 inch cut with layers and protein treatment was all I needed cuz when I wash my hair my curls were popping all of the sudden after 2-3 months of straightening it every 2-3 weeks. I was shocked and went right back to my wash n gos. I’m so happy lol

First time ever doing a silk press. Messed up my very fragile, 14-in 4c hair and sent it to the grave. After several bottles of Aphogee - I smacked myself upside the head for being so dumb. It's just hair, and if I got it to grow this long in 2.5 years, I can do it again. So, it's a buzz and restart for me. Still. 😔

I’m with you on starting a new hair journey. I have been dealing with a lot of stress and experienced excessive shedding. I see my hair getting thinner. I’m glad i watched this video because I wanted to cut my hair so short and start over. I think my hair can bounce back. I will do regular trims, do protein treatments, avoid stress as much as possible. I really want my hair to get back to the way it was.

I just did the same in December. I big chopped for the 3rd time about 6 inches and I’m around an inch from armpit length. I cut the lightest part of my color. Honestly I still probably need a little more to cut, but in May I’m dying my hair red and getting my stylist to shape it and fix the ends some. I knew when my ends were tangling and the curls didn’t curl like normal that something was off. It feels SO much better and is springy, now I love my hair again!

I became lackadaisical when it came to my hair regimen during quarantine. I think it was due to me being in the house so much, I started taking shortcuts; then my consistency became trash. I grew my hair to waist length before but due to me being neglectful, I had to get it trimmed to MBL. I told myself I'd get back to the basics of moisturizing my hair like I used to, when i first went natural; including making my own hair masks & gel again.
Can't wait to watch more of your journey & loving that wash & go. 😍

Right now my hair has been a protective style for about 10 days. I am trying to figure out what to do next, i have noticed that my hair is getting thinner and my twist-outs don't look the same at all. I had to big chop because my hair was breaking off in clumps. I would just run my fingers over it and come away with clumps. I chop it down to 3-4 inches in December it its already thicker and healthier feeling and looking. I will only blow it out and press it 3 times this year to trim it. Other than that I am happy with my decision. I miss my length but she will come back better and stronger.

Also, you can create a Pinterest board of pics of your wash day results and a pic of the products grouped together if possible used on that day and add any notes to your pin post! Just some ideas to help you remember your routines along the way! This is why I don’t want to get a silk press. Heat damage is so disappointing. Silk presses are a cute lil trend right now & the transformation videos are nice but a lot of those women have loose textures or heat damage. There’s a reason you don’t typically see type 4 hair on silk press videos/IG pages 🥴

    • @ShaniqueBuntyn

The benefit of Olaplex builds over time and keeps the hair in good shape. Try a protein treatment or Ayurvedic herbs in your hair. You did the right thing by trimming your hair. You’re still so beautiful and your hair forgives you.

When you were being patient with your hair was before you had your pumpkin pie (son). At this point, your son must be a bit more independent which allows you to take more time for yourself! Life gets busy.
