''If you want something bad enough you can do it.. I firmly believe that. I was willing to die for it. When you think you can't get up one more time you got 5 more.'' -Tom Platz
When I first started lifting the barbell back squat was my least favorite exercise. After nearly 3 years it has become my favorite exercise that I put before all other lifts. I feel like a badass when I squat heavy.
@@frzbonney1663 Yeah, heavy compound movements really work for that. My testosterone is higher at 39 than it was in my 20s. It's close to 900, and in my 20's the highest I ever hit was low 800's. Lifting really does get your testosterone up as long as you don't overtrain. I love the feeling of lifting heavy weights. I go super heavy too since I have a lot of strength and muscle with good genetics, but I don't do one rep maxes since I don't want to get hurt. I believe going heavy is good. Especially as you get older and it builds that connective tissue and makes your bones stronger. I want to be in my 60's still going really heavy and hitting PR's, naturally.
To this day Tom Platz remains The Owner , Father of The Squat Stand, legs in bodybuilding is what it is because of Tom Platz. We love you Tom Platz , thanks a million for improving my leg development
Ive been killing legs since quarantine, 3x a week with great results, IVE never been a leg guy, its ALWAYS been a week point for me, but now that I got these thick wheels I feel as though I judge other guys in my gym for not having the same. Terrible I know lol
You know you're a squatter when you fear leg day. Why do I say that? When you back squat 10 /10 going up to your heaviest weight on last set and you've got more leg exercises to do. Your quads are fried! Now! It's truly awesome. Mind over matter, baby! You're out of your comfort zone and into the pain zone. It takes you 4-5 days for your legs to recover. When they do, it's leg day again!
Yesterday was my first leg day where I followed Tom Platy's rule of always 5 more. Holly fuck was it painful! Pushing beyond the point of where you think you can no longer move forward. Made me really realize the pain and intensity needed to be the best!
All I see is half and quarter squats except what Tom Platz is doing. Squats are one of the greatest exercises if only done right or else it just leads to lower back, core and cardiovascular fatigue.
Tom Platz is the ultimate hype man (he and Larry Wheels workout buddy). But at the same time, check out different videos on UA-cam titled Gym Fails. Sometimes the mind is stronger than the body and you can end up injuring yourself. Always take the necessary precautions and be safe. Be crazy intense, but be safe. Always have a spotter, use a belt, and heavy is not necessarily intense. More depth, and reps can also provide an intense squat session
Prob could have left the clip at @3:02 out lmao. Almost killed the mood. Everyone is pushing big weight like a dump truck....and then....3:02 comes on lol
Nothing worth having is easy to get, hence hard work for big strong legs. Too many oversized upper bodies nowadays with small legs in baggy pants. Platz is and will always be Quadzilla.
Interesting, rare for your squat to be over your deadlift when you're doing them both equally since the range of motion is more on a squat. Some people have that though. Are you wearing knee sleeves for a higher squat? That's sometimes why people squat more than deadlift. I only squat and stopped deadlifting. Squats don't bother my back, but I have tweaked my back deadlifting. I was feeling nerve pain and weird numbness going down my leg for a while that made me nervous, some sciatica. It wasn't too extreme, but I didn't want it to turn into a herniated disc or something where I could barely move. My form was bad, and this was mostly when I first started deadlifting. That went away after a while, but I don't mess with deadlifts anymore only squatting. Squatting is actually my favorite exercise, and when done right is good for the back in my opinion, although I have heard the same for deadlift. Strengthening your back and core is good for avoiding injuries. I don't suggest one rep maxes though, as they can be dangerous.

It is one of those lifts where heavier feels better.
its set the most testosterone free

Just WOW
Don't worry about squatting if you don't feel comfortable. Dorian Yates became 7x Mr Olympia using leg presses mostly because of his hip injuries.
great job!!! 💪💪
