Considering Judy Kuhn was battling a fever and swollen throat that evening, to have such clarity and tone under those conditions is astounding. Imagine had she been at full health how epic the rendition would be!
The NYGalavant that’s amazing! I was thinking that she sounds a bit different than other videos, but if that’s the case, that’s truly amazing
Judy has one of the best voices ever.
What a fantastic performance. Can't understand why the producers cut this from the original release. Judy is far better than some of those who made it to the final cut.
Literally who. I love Judy Kuhn but the final cut is pretty much flawless except Liza's performance. But it's Liza so understandable.
Judy Kuhn has basically sounded the same since the mid-80s. That's 30 years of consistently perfect vocals (because that's the only quality vocal that she seems to be able to produce). However, that seems to be the main reason why she never got extremely popular. She has a literally PERFECT voice. No flaws, no issues, only occasional bouts of tired vocals, but they're still consistently in-tune and unstrained. She doesn't have a single imperfection through her 3 octaves, and that sadly makes it kind of difficult to find the character of her voice, barring her from the same level as Patti Lupone or Bernadette Peters, both of whom have flaws, but whose flaws give their voices endless amounts of character.
You know...you have a point here. I've always wondered why she never reached the level of lupone and peters, and I believe you're right. The ones that do make it to that level have flaws but that's what makes them recognizable and its that quirk that we love.
But I will say the mere sound of Judy voice is pretty unique. From a technical standpoint, yes FLAWLESS. But but its that rich, perfect chest and head mix with the elastic, unrestrained vibrato that makes her voice recognizable to anyone who might hear it. I played a recording of her for my mom recently and asked I she recognized who it might be. She couldn't recall the name, but she remembered enough to say "a disney voice of some sort" lol ;) once I said Pocahontas, she knew who it was.
Because Lupone is magnificent--that's different from very good.
She is my favourite Cosette!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Four Kings brought me here!
Lawd, I still want this woman to sing for me, should I ever be on my death bed and coherent.
Im obsessed with Judy Kuhn, but I wonder why she sang this song? Something from She Loves Me would have been nice
Ice Cream?
She's doing something you'd never expect and I love it. I think she's got a wonderfully diverse instrument. And her acting is really amazing.
Damn!!!!!!!! Love Judy Kuhn and wish I could have seen her live in something!!! This song really shows off her versatility as a performer.
Powerful!
She's a drummer?
Omg When Pocahontas would be a Funny Girl
Once I heard the Glee Version this just doesn’t hit the same. Say what you will but Rachel sang this sh*t
How old was she here? So gorgeous
broadway singers are the best
So much hard work that went into this and it shows. What an amazing performance! That voice is Golden! I want it for my ringtone. Call me anytime. 🙂🙂
