I remember about 50 years ago investigating an accident. A mechanic was replacing the outer read dual tire on a “Greyhound” type bus. He stuck his head over the top of the tires to see what was not lining up. That is when the floor jack did just what your Jack did. In his case the result was fatal.
I cringe whenever i see someone working on anything sitting on just a jack.
I only use hydraulic jacks for lifting, then put jack stands in place, and lower onto them to hold the weight. Same issue with jack stands, sometimes, with near-flat tops, you gotta make sure they won't fail to grip/hold the load safely, either.
My dad is a retired 40 year Ironworker, one of his favorite H&S sayings when we are working on something is "never stick your hand where you wouldn't stick your pecker". So I had a good laugh when you busted out a variation of that
Good idea, Stretch!
Nice mod. After 35 years of hotrodding and general stuff, I finally had a car slip off a jack - and for the same reason. Slipped off and the tie-rod landed on the jack with enough force to get bent like a pretzel, but it kept me from getting my head cracked by the bumper. Time to fire up the welder.
I made different saddles for my floor jack to drop in when the occasion calls. Best thing ever. Now no slipping off critical lifting spots.
ChuckE2009 !!!!! I am very glad that I found you!! good to see you again !!!
Nice to see you welding
I have Uninstalled the jack disc to install a homemade apparatus for supporting an old truck door for easy removal and installation
I wouldn’t use that phrase with some guys I know lol. They put it in a snakes mouth if you hold it open.
Shaking hands with danger.
Sorry to hear about your finger. Glad to hear your dick's ok 🤣
I noticed that mod when you lifted the piece of equipment earlier to wiggle the wheels to show the bushings needed replacing. I was thinkin' mmm, I have a jack with the round piece missing. I need to do that.
I thought it was just angle iron welded on. I'm glad to see the details. Thanks!
You sir, are a genius. Seriously, why hasn't somebody designed something like this previously?
Because now u can't use it on anything except frame rails.try putting it under a diff or trans or control arm. U just limited the Jack's universal way of lifting cause he don't know what he's doing
Really great safe 👏
Great simple idea!
Oh my gosh I haven’t seen one of your videos in years. Think you changed your channel name on me. Anywho good to see you again. I subscribed. Like watching you get into projects.

I made something similar for my Jack when I had a Porsche 912. It was a flat plate with grabbers so it sits perfectly under the motor and doesn’t slip off
Very nice mod Chuck... 😊
Rule number 2... NEVER ignore rule number 1 Mr. E ! (next time.... think about a drift pin).
Except you lose your height. It's better if you just make a separate piece-- and then you can bolt on your old flat fixture if you need to slide it under a low car or something. Keep the options open.
Seeing the mill in the video I’d love to see a review on in since you have had it
Remember, rule #1 still applies!
We don't talk about Fight Club
I’ll take two!
My brother once jad a jack fail on him when he je was under the car luckily his head fit right into the crevice where the muffler used to be.
great idea. I'm sure you know but using a floor jack on uneven ground not a great idea either, jack cant roll as you lift and may slip from under the car/truck/machine etc.
👍😎👍
Too bad about your finger ..
🤔🤔🤔Hmmmm. Making dyes for a log splitter/forge press, gave me an idea make different interchangeable saddles for the floor jack, all kinds of things I don't like about the factory ones.
Great idea. They hav those for the ends of the lifts kinda. I do not think they have any for jacks.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻great mod
The saddle on my floor jack is not bolted in. There is nowhere for a bolt.
OOOOUCH!!!
You can’t leave anything alone. You need a show sign that says. Everything must be fabercobled 🤣
Personally I value my fingers more than the other apendage, they are far more useful
poor guy
@@oliverroedel1111I agree my wife would be very sad if I lost my fingers or tongue.
How can u tell if it’s cast iron
Ow
snmart idea and useful
Patent it
Save all that work and make it out of a C channel

Cool idea/concept... but it won't work
