    Thanks some very original thoughts there and well presented up here every cordaline has been cut down to ground level even very old ones. , but s few are resprouting from base . Ayrshire has the benefit of the Gulf Stream but last winter was extreme .

    What of the coloured or variegated Cordylines are the most hardy for the UK?

      @essexhognose1808 The torbay dazzler may be the best bet , but to be honest most of the coloured cordylines are going to be similar. Minus temps for prolonged periods will damage them. Most will die to the ground at -6c but may regrow. - 8c will probably kill them out right.
