For those who dont understand When a moon or any other object comes within a certain radius of a planet known as the roche limit, the gravity which is pulling the object towards the planet exceeds the gravity which is keeping the object together and it breaks apart which is why the rings are small chunks of rocks and they don't form larger chunks because the gravity makes it impossible
The Roche limit is different for every object and it depends upon the density of the body and planet, For instance the Roche limit between earth and moon is about 9492km
Saturn had to have killed like 20 moons for them rings J1407B has so much skill it killed an entire star for its rings even as a planet what a boss fight (if you have seen the picture of the planet it’s rings are a bajillion times larger making it seem tiny but its double the size of Jupiter I’m pretty sure)
For those that don't know, the moon was a stray exoplanet going at 300km/h in the SOL solar lane, a gas giant converged in the uninhabitable cold zone, and the exoplanet could not slow down enough. The exoplanet was found shredded beyond repair, and it's core was never found.
Fun fact:around 4.4 billion years ago in the early days of the solar system, the Earth had a collision with a protoplanet called Theia (similar size to mars) the Earth got some rings too but the chunks just started colliding themselves until they formed the moon also the reason why it's getting further away
Great explanation also the reason why the rings turn into moon is because its outside roche limit If you dont know roche limit the start of the video will explain it
Bro this is only one of the many theories... It is said that (within just some hours) the liquified debris of both Earth and Theia combined and formed two moons but before they could solidify, the two moons (still liquid) collided with each other, and merged together, and then they started solidifyong or freezing after that event. The major of the tiny debris either fell back or went into orbit but ended up getting absorbed into Luna.
"DOCTOR, I CAN'T HOLD BACK. I JUST CAN'T..I JUST CANT....I JUST WANT TO POST THREE EMOJIS DOCTOR... I KNOW IM 20 SECONDS SOBER RIGHT NOW BUT I CAN'T RESIST!"🤓🤓🤓
I have one about neutron stars!: When two neutron stars spiral towards each other and crash they release a flash of light and a wave of gravitational energy due to the force of gravity the debris from the collision is scattered across the galaxy creating what is known as a killonova Explosion !
The spiraling itself produces the gravitational waves, it's just because of the fact that both stars are ridiculously heavy, hundreds of thousands of times heavier than the earth, all packed in an orb the size of several soccer fields and rotating dozens of times every second, and they rotate around each other approaching the speed of light (for reference, the parker sun probe has hit a 70 km/s speed, arguably the fastest a man made space object has ever travelled, and that is approximately 0.02% the speed of light. You could imagine how much impulse a neutron star would bear while approaching our universe's hard speed limit) Also, the way we measure gravitational waves is by comparing the distance of two equally long perpendicular tunnels several kilometres long with lasers. When a gravitational wave impacts the facility, the spacetime warps and makes the tunnels different in length for a fraction of a moment by decimal percentages. How cool is that? A wave travels hundreds, if not thousands of years to our tiny little planet, distorting reality on its path and changing the sizes of objects!
Its too small to just.. Break apart, the volume isn't enough to allow gravity to have this effect... Otherwise, we couldn't have gone to any planet at all.
Saturns Moon 1: Hey want a Hug Saturns Moon 2: Uhhh you sure? Saturns Moon 1: Yes Saturns Moon 2: Ok *Boom* Saturn: What was that? Saturn: Nevermind it Gave me a ring

anyone who wants to know more, basically what happens is that around a planet, theres this distance away/radius thats called the roche limit, where the gravity of the planet is stronger and can overcome the gravity of that small moon/comet/asteroid. then, some parts of that small moon is closer or further away from the planet and that there are different orbital speeds for different orbital heights. the part of the moon furthest away from the planet experiences different gravitational forces than the parts of the moon closest to the planet. also, because of the differing orbital speeds between the part of the moon closest to the planet vs furthest from the planet, because the closer parts of the moon are lower, they try to orbit the planet faster since they are closer while the higher/further away parts of the moon try to orbit slower. usually, a moons gravity can hold it together, but when its close enough, the gravitational forces being stronger, as well as a greater orbital velocity difference per given height difference, causes to those forces to overcome the gravitational forces of the own moon, causing the breakup of the moon. Then over time, because of sone parts of the moon are slighly further away from the planet vs closer to the planet, they have different orbital periods (time it takes to do a full orbit around a planet) which means that over time they spread out to be pretty uniform around the entire planet.
Everyone in this reply section is wrong, none of you understand they said *was* a rocky planet, using this information they said I can prove to you all that Saturn used to be a rocky planet in the far past. The way planets are formed is by a gas and dust cloud ring around the star while it’s being born. All planets started rocky but some went further on and due to the rocky planet’s large mass it gained massive amounts of gas laying on top of the rock with a large mass, like Jupiter has a little 10 earth mass planet inside of it for it’s core. Saturn also went this way and got gas due to the rock planet’s gas inside of it. Due to the gas it gained a much larger mass which let it hold stable rings.
Imagine if that moon (chrysalis) had life underneath it's surface and you were there seeing the ceiling crumble. Or imagine you were fossilised in the ring
How J1407B gravity can be that strong? Its literally outstanding star gravity (could outstand neutron star too) if J1407B can destroy moon very far away
