- It's been a long time since we covered 1 euro homes on this channel. Today we visit Santi Cosma e Damiano near Gaeta Italy. They previously announced their interest in starting a 1 euro home initiative, but is it actually a thing?

Yes ; Its very nice but there is so many other options. All of Salento is beautiful. Casarano is not far from some of the most beautiful beaches in Puglia. There is over 97 communes to pick from and all offer opportunities. If you have never done it go for something that does not require much work. Dauvo is a guy with ideas. Hope to see more towns like this near a beach and a small city, as that would be my preference if I decide to buy there one day. Though I would look for a mostly turnkey place, not a fixer upper. I have some Italian ancestry so maybe that will help with the process.

It would be wonderful to find one that was habitable so you could conceivably live and work in the home while it's being renovated. I'd love to find about 225-360 square meters with a beautiful rooftop garden and some fruit trees and a nice patio/garden

We still have it but we moved actually. It is rented out and we used that income to rent a place a bit closer to my wife's optical store. I should do an update! Thanks for asking. Wish i was in San Diego! Haha
@@DauvO Oh yeah, I remember the video you made about her shop. We still have our Little Italy here in San Diego, leftover from when the Italians and Portuguese inhabitants fished for tuna. Mexico took over after the American government outlawed net fishing.

I bought 2 auction houses in Italy and I have been following some people who bought 1 euro homes… have never seen someone who made a good deal and would never recommend to anyone. Italian bureaucracy is a nightmare but for those who are into the business is heaven

Where is this Bicchori ( not sure of spelling) location in Pulia that you speak about ?
Search for biccari Puglia. It has a nice wooded area on the west side of the village

Legal not really. I see it often enough i would say yes. But I wouldn't know otherwise
What about trains?
There is a good bus system, (cotral,) in santi cosma that takes you to multiple train stops.
