Everyone dissed this game but to be honest it did exactly what it set out to do and then some. It was supposed to depict Sam as a different kind of person outside the agency. Unrestrained. Violent. Merciless. Vengeful. I'd say it did a pretty good job. As a splinter cell purist's game? Yeah I can understand the criticism.
And to be fair, you could still sneak/stealth around if you really wanted. It just opened the options up for me, personally. I still stealthed through most of this game myself, lol. I never had a problem with it, and like you said, they accomplished actually what they set out to do: making Sam feel more unrestrained, more violent, more intense, etc.
People may say every splinter cell game should be stealthy. I totally agree. But if you know the story of this game, you know it would make sense to see this game as a full action packed genre with John Wick type style. THIS is how the game should be played. Knowing Fisher is mad because they "killed" his daughter kinda lines up with the mood of John Wick losing his Dog/Car. And with the new mechanics of this game (gun kills/ knockdowns and Sam's torturing interrogations) You can tell they wanted this game to be a bit more action than the traditional sneaking around. Don't get me wrong, I love me some damn good classic Splinter Cell. But this game is on another level of action. Great Video!
I had NO idea anyone still played this game aside from me. Finding this video was awesome; I'm surprised it was done so recently! By the way... shoutout to 5:37. That's the type of thing I'd only dreamed of doing. Long live Michael Ironside as Sam Fisher. This is one of my all-time favorite games, and stories.
I recently rebought this game for PC and playing it at 60fps is fucking awesome, I prefer this game over Blacklist just because I find it more fun and the stealth I find can be more interesting, I typically do Deniable Ops on Realistic, then I have Pistol only meaning I can put away my weapons and go round punching people out and honestly it's kinda funny to see Archer/Fisher/Kestrel running around without weapons beating the pulp out of people
Superman I'm still playing this man, I thought that nobody was playing this anymore too, it's way too awesome to see this video and to see people like you who still play this game, I'm way too excited
Even if this wasn't the stealthiest game in the series, its combat loop was totally addictive. I could play levels over and over again just trying out different attack combinations and playstyles. And it gave Sam the best characterization out of all the games. This was a personal story and Sam was out for blood.
Actually, John is propably beyond Sam. Sam wouldn't use stealth so heavily if he was on John's level who just tears through small armies single handed.
I love the addition of Mark and Execute. I think people didn’t like it because it made the game too easy, but it makes you feel like the damn killing machine Sam is.
Agent Revenge as sad as it is, we will never get michael ironhide as sam fisher again. He left the role because he believes sam fisher has become to violent.
Agent Revenge There's been a rumor for quite a while now that Ironside is back. The info seems pretty legit, but who knows. Here's a link to the full story: www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/rumor-michael-ironside-returns-splinter-cell/
@Michael Stroup Uh, no. Ironside got tired of the role since Chaos Theory, felt that Double Agent was phoned in, and outright refused to do Conviction. It only took a conversation with Maxime Beland (the recent project director) that Ironside himself liked for him to get onboard. The "violent Sam" from Conviction was the direction Ironside liked.
Very nice gameplay. I always had conflicting emotions towards this game as a big Splinter Cell fan. They removed so many classic stealth features (dragging bodies, lockpicking, whistling etc.) and introduced the (in my opinion) rather lazy M&E system. I remember trying to ghost my way through the campaign and having really good time or horrible time depending on the level. Going pure ghost was really dull because of the lack of options, really felt like I was playing the most basic and dullest stealth game ever made. This video really makes me feel like going back and trying to play the game loud and proud. The game seems to be designed around the last know position and mark and execute after all.
I loved all the splinter cell games but for me this one has a special place in my heart. You finally feel like sam fisher is unleashed. Not to mention the multiplayer gave so much replay value.
Sto Karatów I don't really care. It should have been the end for Sam Fisher tho. I was more pissed about blacklist puting his name on a completely different character than the previous entries of the game.
Ive seen a ton of people defending Blacklist recently. And that was my main problem with it, it should have been a Spinoff. Sam was a totally different character. I couldnt even finish it because of that.
Story-wise its good and makes sense why Fisher is not particularly stealthy - he is pissed off and wants all of them dead. It's decent action game, but bad Splinter Cell game. That's why I would have preferred if Conviction was titled differently, like, Sam Fisher's revenge or somethin'.
It's the same situation with Metal Gear Solid 5. Fantastic gameplay and a good game all round, but people bitch about it because it didn't feel like a true MGS game, mainly due to the lack of story. I don't care, I'm a fan of both franchises and these are two great stealth-action games.
I remember hating Conviction when it first came out. Everyone hated the new gameplay and removal of morality. But it has aged so well. I actually really like it now.
i'll be waiting then, anyway if you're about to do something with sc blacklist, i suggest you to use balaclava mod from the last mission to be able to use in all other missions steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=282161248
Geez, man. And I thought I played aggressively. I usually stick with the Five-SeveN, because it has 4 marks, more than any other gun in the game, and it's internally suppressed. I rarely use the secondary weapon, but when I do, I use the M-500 like you did. I try to have a mark/execute ready to go, mark all but one people in the room, melee kill the last guy, and move onto the next room, and I rinse and repeat for the whole game pretty much. Very effective in Deniable Ops.
The worst Splinter Cell game is still an amazing action game, goes to show how underrated the mechanics are, wish there had been some spiritual successors to this.
5:37 i know it is on sync and all but not doing that while playing the game was a crime, although i could only wish at time to play like this Pd: i guess almost nobody inthis comment section played this game

As a splinter cell purist's game? Yeah I can understand the criticism.
JustSomeGuy Yeah, the dev even explained it at E3. Sam was freed from the rules and seek for revenge in the event where this game occurs.
Perhaps if they called it something like Conviction: A Splinter Cell story it’d have been received better.
nostalgia fanboys bashed it but Conviction is overall a great game
@Cyberdemon Mike I don't think so, just didn't hook me like the previous Splinter Cell's
John wick? This game was designed to emulate "The Bourne Identity"
That was the main inspiration
true, its the center axis relock Sam uses that makes everyone think that though
And that reason right there is why I'm buying it today. I've been looking for a Jason Bourne type game.
Hi Nick930 I like your video game documentary videos

Hail Ironside!!! \o/
I used to hate that at the beginning of this, no matter what methods you used or how fast you were you couldn't save the two people from getting shot.
Can't save everyone.
Though you can shoot everyone who shot them so it's alright.
I try it when I still have my "Mark and Execute",when i try it and bang the black arrow head's soldier, the game suddenly crash or freeze.
"Who killed all of this men?!"
"It was some guy in a green sweater, I think it was the guy from blue's clues!"
😂😂😂
Fun fact: Steve From Blues Clues left the show because he was going bald, and now he has a metal band.
Sam was john wick before wick
indeed
John learned from sam the man
Nope, huge difference. Sam is more focus on stealth while John is focus more on gun fights.

John Wick wishes he was Sam Fisher

Ace Breao Sam Fisher wishes he was Big Boss
Actually, John is propably beyond Sam. Sam wouldn't use stealth so heavily if he was on John's level who just tears through small armies single handed.

When Sam goes full John Wick mode
This game would have much better reception if it was labeled as Splinter Cell's action spinoff, not a game in main series.
Sto Karatów I don't really care. It should have been the end for Sam Fisher tho. I was more pissed about blacklist puting his name on a completely different character than the previous entries of the game.

Sam just breaks every rule he has had since the first game...and that's just cool!!!
This game looks awsm even today
And this is what happens when you spend your whole life playing one video game you reach a certain level of perfection
never kill sam fishers' daughter or john wick's dog :ok:
This man has mastered Conviction, and he should be very proud of himself.
All these John Wick videos are really satisfying for the most part
I'mma try that too next time I'm play Conviction
Makes me want a good John wick game. Just do it similar to this but with more take down moves and more weapons
Sam Fishers like John wick but cooler
if i know they was this blind when you in the shadow i would never struggle so much
Man I love this game.
This game ended up being so different from how Ubisoft originally pitched it in the Game Informer reveal.
I remember hating Conviction when it first came out. Everyone hated the new gameplay and removal of morality. But it has aged so well. I actually really like it now.
DAMN. That's some kick ass gaming, especially with how he climb up that pipe onto that building.
Fast paced tactical gun combat + martial arts techniques = Wick-jutsu gun-fu.
And thats the real SamFisher way to kill every enemy soldier lol
holy shit i literally just went to youtube to find splinter cell conviction gameplay and you showed up just in time

This game proves a trend. It proved that every splinter cell game had its own unique way of being played. Some are meant to be stealthier than others
The game is since 2009 and u brought it back alive i love you
That "Fuck Me!" in the End LOL
VIVA LA JOHN WICK!
This game was chocked full of moments like this. It wasn't splinter cell but it was still good and I feel it earned it's place.
All you need is the song "Gods gonna cut you down" along with it. This is well done.
The worst Splinter Cell game is still an amazing action game, goes to show how underrated the mechanics are, wish there had been some spiritual successors to this.
Still can't hold a candle to the glorious Chaos Theory.
People don’t realize how revolutionary conviction really was...
Splinter Cell: One Man Army
Director: Michael Bay
Splinter cell conviction is the closest game we get to become john wick
Incredibly satisfying to watch. Bravo
Thank you sir :)
This game shows what Sam can do without NSA, orders and plans.
Wrath.
Yeah , Sam Fisher is probably the closest to John Wick , especially in Conviction when he is all about tracking down and killing people.
In the first 20 seconds I needed to pause so I can process the awesomeness that happened before my eyes XD
Not even a John Wick Simulator...
This is SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION, way before John Wick came out, as much as I love the movie.
Severely underrated video! Excellent use of the Desert Eagle, no stupid Dubstep music overplayed, well done video!
This is how I always imagine Sam fisher being like
Full John Wick mode
Anyone else notice Sam Fisher running like Desmond Miles
Now i want to play this game, best advertisment ever.

Long before there was a jhon wick there was sam fisher
This dude seriosly have good accuracy and nice timing

Awesome ...Tempting to play again after a long while
Gawd Bless You!
