New and old. DuPree and Pearson were pillars of the team for years. Staubach and Wright were in the middle of their careers. Pugh and Hayes were OG's. A good mix. A great franchise. Even though the anticipated failure to make the playoffs did happen in 1974, those Cowboys always reloaded and retooled which created another run in the second half of the 1970s.
Otto Stowe was becoming a superstar at WR and that was before Drew Pearson took over the season. Golden Richards was a rookie as well.....only injuries and idiot Duane Thomas and his actions in 1972 cost us a ring in 1973, Cowboys had the BEST team in the league
the rams had some good teams in the 70s, the just couldnt get by the cowboys or vikings until they finally broke through in 79 but would come up short against the Steelers 31-19
i loved these cowboy teams pre tony dorrset, captain comeback Roger the dodger stallbach, the cowboys went to 5 Super Bowls in the 70s, but only had 2 wins, i hated losing to the steelers twice , they were just a little better in both games
So what they were 4-3 at the midpoint of the 1973 season as they were in 1971.In 1973 they were not coming off a loss in the previous super bowl like they did in 1971
A MISSING RING....Only injuries stopped the Cowboys this year: Otto Stowe was OWNING the league becoming a superstar and then Calvin HIll ruined Otto's career...If Duane Thomas did not do what he did they could have survived. Duane THomas being an idiot cost the Cowboys at least two rings and this year was one of them. Calvin Hill dislocates elbow in playoffs and Bob Lilly injury.....at WR we had Otto Stow, Haye and rookies Golden and Drew Pearson...this Cowboys team was stacked. Horrible how injuries just took away this ring.
@@g.r.x.racer-1737 WHAT??? You seem to forget the last team to beat them were the Cowboys...they FLEECED the Dolphins on a trade with Otto Stowe who was becoming a SUPERSTAR before a career ending injury suffered @ the Vet in October and (same WR that Shula and candy ass arm Griese could not use) AND on Thanksgiving the Shula squad needed every call in the book to beat the Cowboys

That was the best looking cowboy blue uniform, even though they hated wearing their color, that color blue was the best looking

John Facenda 's first year narrating the Cowboys highlight film

No mention of Otto Stowe's injury week 7 vs. Eagles which all but ended his career.
They didn't have Tony Dorsett and Randy White. They were the difference they needed.

Dolphins would have clobbered Cowboys either way.

+@@ms.felonystrutter2472 1973 team was stronger than 1972 undefeated team. Cowboys would still have been crushed.
