Thanks a bunch! I just bought the sensor for $13 and followed your very clear instructions, was able to change the sensor and my fuel filter at the same time
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive I have a 2008 P.T. Cruiser & I changed the Mass Air Flow Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor, but car was still bucking & hesitating when accelerating, So I did some research & the Camshaft Position Sensor was recommended, when I purchased the car 2 months ago the previous owner had a brand new one already in the back seat from the part store, Long story short your video helped me I didn't have to remove the air-filter housing only had to unplug the cam shaft position sensor plug & remove 2 bolts/screws, I cleaned off the surface from the old sensor, plugged in the new sensor tightened up the bolts/screws and now the car runs fine no more bucking or hesitation! Thanks a bunch for your straight forward video! 👌👌👌👌👍
Thank you for sharing! My post is a little long but maybe it will help someone. My sensor just went I believe.. I have a Pt Cruiser GT (HO Turbo) my engine light came on when I was boosting and charging my brothers car for 10 mins. So when I started to drive away the car started surging when trying to step on the gas almost like it's running out gas and it doesn't have any power lol Today It is hard to start but once it stars it seems fine. If I drive normal without pounding it then it drives sort of normal...But I love pounding on it! I have 2 fault codes that came up P0340 and P0344 which I believe are the same thing. P0340 = Camshaft position Sensor "A" circuit Intermittent (Bank1 or Single Sensor) P0344 = Camshaft position Sensor "A" circuit Intermittent (Bank1 or Single Sensor) Because I have a GT my sensor is a little harder to get to but it's all the same shut LOL I'll let you know how it goes. once I get a new one... Thanks again for the great video!
My tab that you reference at 1:12 seems to be broken off. Any tips on dealing with this? Can't seem to find the right way to wiggle a screwdriver in and push it down.
@@jbb4670 I did! A lot easier than I thought it would be. You can come in from the backside of where the tab would be and pry up gently with a small flathead and it should come loose!
@@loganjones2453 oh interesting ok! where do you pry up though? with the tab gone, it is only the tiny strips it was connected to that are left and i tried pushing down on them with my flathead but it did not budge..
@@jbb4670 Hey sorry, just saw this. If you flip the piece were the tab was 180º horizontally, you should see the area the tab was connected to. So insteaf of trying to pry where the tab was, pry what the tab would have been moving, if that makes sense. It was a month ago, so I'm not 100% on the specifics anymopre, but I basically turned the piece around and saw a tab that could be pried up, because the back of the piece was open.
@@loganjones2453 haha yeh i tried using the flathead and the whole damn clip where the slider is on top of it broke off.. 🤣🤣 i switched out the sensor and still have the p0340 code.. 🙄🙄 the code didnt clear..
Thank you! so much! I noticed that in taking the sensor off, one of the bolts was not very tight (I could remove with my fingers - and I noticed it was leaking a bit of oil). So I cleaned everything off, examined the gasket etc and just put it back in place - tightening it better this time. It seems to have solved the issue (for now). But I may need to replace it if it gives me issues starting up again. Also, if you are seeing this comment, would a faulty Camshaft sensor mess with my first and second gear changes? So starting from 1st, my car wants to stall so I have to quickly put in 2nd and it wants to stall upon releasing the clutch halfway again but once in 3rd, it seems fine. Just wondering if any connection. Thanks again. This was super helpful!
Sounds like you need to have it diagnosed by a transmission specialist. This happened to my Cruiser and the only one who figured it out was a transmission guy. It cost $2,000, but I think that he for by with overcharging me because I'm an old woman (Stephen's a pen name. I'm a writer.), in a wheelchair, had it towed to him, and was desperate to get my car running. I'm sure you can get it done cheaper.

Did it end up working? I actually am getting the same codes, pretty much same situation as you. Thank you!

Very smooth installation

Great video. Quick question.... can a bad cam sensor throw out a "misfire detected on cylinder 1" code or will I be chasing that issue?
@@fpvwithme I haven't heard of that happening. They are most likely separate issues.
@ValleyMobileAutomotive well all the codes are gone now!!

Did you happen to figure out what was causing your problem
What were the symptoms of a bad crankshaft position sensor?
Surging at highway speeds. Mine is doing that . Ordered one today
@@Kirawolf1971 did it end up fixing the problem
@@austinramos9778 i was having engine sputtering and it wouldn’t start occasionally. Changing the sensor fixed it!

My 2007 cracks but only starts using start😢 fluid. What should I do now?
Changed the fuel pump
No red dot
New battery
New spark plugs
My car sucks and you're cute, so post more PT Cruiser vids, please.
Is this the same when replacing it on a 2007
If it's the 2.0 or the 2.4 engine it should be exactly the same. The 1.6 is different.
This little sensor is $483 at the stealership!
Holy smokes! That's with installation I hope?
Wow!! Fuck all of that!!
“Stealership” 😂
33.00 at o riely 😅
Under $11.00 @ AutoZone. 3 different models.
