This Interview for 22 Years of Kandukondain Kandukondain with director Rajiv Menon, Rajiv Menon is an Indian filmmaker who has worked as a director and cinematographer in several Indian regional film industries. After making his breakthrough as a film cinematographer with Mani Ratnam's drama Bombay (1994), Menon has continued to collaborate with Ratnam on other projects including Guru (2007) & Kadal (2013). He has also directed 2 critically acclaimed Tamil films, Minsara Kanavu (1997) and Kandukondain Kandukondain, winning a Filmfare Award for the latter. After a sabbatical, Menon returned to directing with Sarvam Thaala Mayam. Watch the full video and come across the comments.

Missing This Type Of Movies Nowadays..
I’ve watched Kandukonden 2x countless times. Fantastic portrayals by every single artist in the movie - both leads and character artists. The movie is so wholesome in every way. Truly empowered female leads with supporting and understanding male leads. The movie feels fresh even after 23 years. Rajiv Menon is a visionary.

Kandukondain Kandukondain is one of my all time favourite tamil movies. It was truly a masterpiece in all sense. I would say it's the best film of Rajiv Menon's directorial career. I liked Tabu & Mammootty's roles & their performances than the rest of the cast. That pre climax scene between Mammukka & Aishwarya was 🔥❤️ Badly missing those kind of feel good musical entertainers 💯
ARR's soulful music really carried the film to the next level. It was his presence really made the movie an unforgottable experience 💯✨

Kandukondaen was a copy of Hollywood movie Sense and Sensibility. Kate Winslet starrer.Didnt anyone know this?

It’s legal when you buy copy rights of the story
The Kate Winslett movie, like KK, is based on the Jane Austen novel by the same name. So Rajiv didn’t have to pay royalties to anyone. KK in fact is an updated version of the early 18th century classic book. (Emma Thomson, who wrote the screenplay of the Kate Winslett movie, stuck to the original.) Rajiv’s version is an updated 21st century rendering, so the female characters are empowered. Tabu has a career n even Aish n her mother are forced to work. Kudos to Rajiv Menon for a completely different treatment.
