    I'm so hyped that I took out my Peg Turbo 2 out for a run...
    I store my shoes by room temperatur and dry condition... I dont think they lost much of the pop, but you can definitely feel it is an older shoe. Mine got only 40miles in. The hype was gone kinda fast, but was not a unpleasent run.
    I had the glue issues that the tip started to seperate from the react foam after like 20miles but nothing that shoeglue couldnt save.
    Your drop explaination is on point. As you maybe remember I'm a big fan of the chinese brands, especially Xtep and li-Ning, the "legendary" Xtep 160x 3.0 Pro, what many see as the "holy grail" has exact the problem you mention! The heel is SO soft that you notice that it becomes a HUUUGE negative drop. What makes the shoe very unpleasent to stand in, especially because it also has the most rigged forefoot experience of all shoes I know its like a firm cliff. As a midfoot striker I dont notice it during a run, but real heelstrikers... oh boy. Still an amazing shoe. But since that I dont look too much of the drop except when I see EVA foams like PWRRUN or Cushlon.
    The 30mm claim I dont get... I almost have only max cushion shoes (which I notice is may not the best), but I can get into my hyper pink peg36 with 300miles in and do a 12miler with no problem... is it as enjoyable as in max cushion shoes? For sure not... is it more healthy, may be not... but totally doable.
    And I have the power of turtle in me... means I'm a slower more heavy runner.
    Personal question, and I know you dont really like to do that but:
    From our chat, and the comments... would you rather say go for the Peg41 or the Peg Plus. Especially in mind that the cold times are lying ahead here in Germany.
    Especially as an re-entry to less is more and to train footstrenght finally.
    I was hoping the Peg Plus is softer in the forfoot area than the peg41.
    Thank you for the review!

      I enjoyed the Peg Turbos, I have 5 pairs (as I said) but all of them had some issue, packed out ZoomX, delamination, upper issues. Overall I MUCH preferred the Peg37 over the Turbos and was happy it replaced them. I've never really had any desire to go back in run in the Turbos, even for nostalgia.
      The 30mm forefoot thing is a bit of a joke for me and a few others now... it is ridiculous.
      I know why you are asking about the colder temps headed your way. The ReactX in the Peg41 is still React and TPU doesn't like cold temps. I'm curious how "bricky" the more air'y injection molded ReactX will get. Luckily, about the coldest temps we ever see here in Taipei are 8-9c (that is "ice cold" dead of winter too). I may be spending some time in actual winter temps this year elsewhere...but we shall see.
      The Peg Plus is much "softer" in the forefoot than the Peg41. Both feel similar in how they cushion your foot...but they achieve it in different ways and feels. I'll talk about this in my upcoming comparisons between the 41 and the Plus on Friday.

    Good review as ever and confirmed one that is of interest to me (think due for 8th Aug release here in the UK) as the Peg Turbo 1 and 2 were the shoes I ran in the most when were current and I even got 170 miles out of the Next Nature ones. Of course now I am 6 years older and slower I am just hoping I can still run in shoes with less than 30mm stack under my toes. At least I have been "learning" to do so in the Peg 41s of late.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  2 місяці тому +1

      Make sure you don't run more than 6 miles in them...it's just not possible! Be VERY careful if you do.
      I didn't know you got that many miles out the the Turbo NN...if you did that you'll love these. Though I'm curious how the upper will fit your foot.
      We will discuss these and the Peg41 once you get some miles into the Plus...

    You’ve sold me. I’m a 2:40 marathoner. Love the alphafly 3 hated the alphafly 2.
    Nikes training lineup has been disappointing and I’ve moved over to adidas (Boston 12 daily and prime x2 for long runs) and asics (novablast daily superblast long runs). On race day I’m always a Nike guy, I have the edge Paris and the pro 3 and nothing runs like the af 3. The peg plus I’m hoping pulls me back to Nike for daily running.

    Nice review, really trust your opinions. Knowing how much you love the product design, it is good to hear you glow on the non-heritage aspects of this shoe. Loved the streakfly, but it felt like it was about to disappear in a puff of smoke after just 2 medium length runs. Really looking forward to a 100 mile review and comparisons to other performance daily trainers out there.

      Ha, that is such a good description of the Streakfly. I hadn't worn them in a while (since last fall) and when I put them on, in my studio, as I described in this video...I was shocked how minimal and lightweight they are. Ive been running alot in the VF3, AF3, MSEP and TS10 lately too...all of them feel "bigger" than the Streakfly....
      I may be back with a durability checkin on these, if I see the need and the long term review may be over 100mi as I'll hit that fairly soon in these.

    Been a Nike loyalist since 1980. The turbo works well for me. I’d estimate that I went through 13-14 pairs from T1 thru T3.
    Beyond excited for the plus! Your review builds my confidence that it will be the best version to date.
    I called Nike and asked to test a pair. Given my loyalty and purchase history, I thought I get a more favorable response. Instead, I was provided with the typical corporate dismissal. “Appreciate your loyalty, but we can’t help you”.
    What infuriates me is that I can easily find reviews of the plus that are conducted by people who don’t appear to be runners. Yet, they have access?
    Please don’t inform me that it’s done to boost sales. Don’t think Nike has any problems moving products. However, they do suffer from quality issues. This is especially evident in the retro air Jordan line. Nike’s product quality diminished when it left Taiwan.
    I can go on and on but I’ll stop. Thank you for indulging me. “Just Do It” - I want to but I need new running shoes and cannot afford to waste money on a competitor shoe to bridge the gap.

    The flyknit looks like what was on the flyknit lunar 2 & 3.

    I value a lot your perspective and experience. Your content is technical and translates running shoe characteristics for me real well (that real drop feel for this shoe). What I constantly find to dislike (and it does hurt your credibility), is that you revolve only in the Nike world. I would really like to see some alternatives for the shoes that you review from other brands.
    I like to have options. I will always choose by on foot feel, but I like to have them presented. Maybe some shoe is not available in Romania (think Puma).
    Nike must work on quality. One example is anufacturing quality: factory specs do not match product specs (see runnrepeat for details).
    You could improve your experience and reviews (in my opinion) by including other brands.
    Thank you for a good instructive review!

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  2 місяці тому +1

      Oddly this is only my 2nd Nike I’ve reviewed in 2024. I’ve covered more Adidas and Asics shoes this year and an equal number of Saucony.
      That being said, I cover what is interesting to me. I primarily run in Nike and Adidas, and occasionally Asics. That’s why you see those brands primarily. I’m also making a point to do cross brand comparisons, my “vs” videos for important models. They will be coming for the Pegasus Plus.
      I have made a point to branch out into other brands this year and my review and editorial lens has been quite broad. Again, it’s what’s interesting to me to run in and cover. Many of the “popular” shoes of the moment I am simply not interested in running in…. Which is why I don’t cover them.
      I also am no longer covering every shoe from every line. There are a handful or important Nikes this year as well as (many more) Adidas shoes. But I’m not covering each line completely, or trying too.
      Lastly, even though I am an American I live abroad and try to focus on details that matter to everyone. Not just US centric prices and sales and what’s only really common in the US.
      I am doing my best to be as proud as possible…. But I’m only one runner…. And I plan to keep this channel my singular voice.
      I appreciate the feedback and comment though. Thank you for taking the time to give me your opinion. 👍🏻

    I loved how narrow v2 was - but do you think going wider affects the ride? Takumi went wider but it’s still solid (I know you liked how it opened up a little). I like lower stack shoes and ground contact . I also like big drops, don’t tell anyone

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  2 місяці тому +1

      The Takumi really didn’t go wider in the contact patch of the outside, more in the last and upper, which makes the shoe so much more usable.
      I too preferred the fit of the Turbo 2. The Peg Plus feels similar to the Turbo 1 though. It’s somewhere between the Turbo 1 and Peg 41. The extra width here makes the shoe very stable and channels the energy of the midsole well. It’s the first ZoomX shoe, they has no plate, that feels like it doesn’t want to go everywhere all at once. That’s the extra width and engineering in the midsole doing that.
      As for the drop. The Peg Plus does not feel big to be due to ZoomX sink. In fact I barely notice the drop in the shoe. I am often aware of it in the Peg 41 though. Overall I’m fine with a drop anywhere from 0-10, I can move between them with little to no problems.
      The thing with the drop in the Peg Plus is they is doesn’t feel like a negative drop at all, which is vital for run ability in the shoe.
      Your secret is safe with me.

    The design reminds me of that abysmal release of the Turbo Next Nature. I tried giving that shoe a chance, but the ride was horrendous. I eventually sold it. I had just come off 3 or 4 straight years of using the standard Pegs and the Turbo really felt next level. Just bought a pair of Adidas SL 2.0 for my weekly runs and that's another amazing shoe. Just came across this one again as I did an 8.5 mile run in these yesterday. Yes 2.5 miles more than is "possible" so thought I was doing well. That said I did have a few issues which felt a bit like PF ones that been struggling with all summer and then I thought this does not feel like a 10mm drop shoe and more like a 6mm - exactly as you said. I was also thinking "oh no" this shoe is "bottoming out" but actually I think it is just me perhaps needing a little a bit more "actual" drop at the moment.

Then again this shoe is a workout shoe for me, the only easy running I do in it is between reps or a warmup/cool down when on the road. It suits my purposes well and I'm very impressed with it.

It had nothing to to with the performance feel of the OG turbos.

    I never tried on a Pegasus Turbo but know how impressive of a proposal it was before 2020. In the current landscape, however, training shoes with race day-oriented foams are a lot more common than they were four years ago. How does Nike's Pegasus Plus stack up against today's competition? My suspicion is that the Pegasus Plus with ZoomX isn't "new" enough to compete with other options on the market.

      I'm not sure about this for a full marathon. I mean, there is no reason you can't, especially if your feet are acclimated to lower stack shoes. However, this shoe is a trainer, a performance trainer, but still a trainer. Distinctly not for racing, though it handles those speeds well.

    I'm used to running in Pegs so a 10mm drop or a sub-30mm forefoot stack aren't necessarily deal-breakers for me. The Supernova Rise also fit that criteria and they run pretty damn good so far (only put 68k in them), although I think the actual drop for me may be less than 10mm. I didn’t measure it but I’d say it’s about 8-10mm at least on the outsole .More importantly though, there are sidewalls on the midsole and the sculpting of the sidewall contain and support the foot. It’s a much more stable and sure footed ride than the Streakfly.

      Typically speaking women’s shoes have narrower lasts in the midfoot and heel as well as softer foams for lighter body weights. Often they will have lower volume uppers too.
      That being said, I have no idea what the differences are on the Peg Plus. Given Nike’s recent emphasis on the anatomical differences of female runners in their performance shoes (AF3) I wouldn’t be surprised if there were sizable differences in the Plus. However, we won’t really know until more reviewers get them and the sites like RunRepeat that do tear-downs can analyze.

    Did an interval session this evening with my club, running at 5:50 per mile for 11x 800m reps and actually had some issues, borderline kind of hurt me. I never usually have problems with my feet but actually have some ball/big toe problems after doing the session in the peg plus. Think, for me the peg turbo is going to be a more of a steady/tempo shoe for me rather than an interval shoe.

    Few occasionally rocks on the road and RIP to the middle of the outsole with the exposed zoomX. For the price it will go for, at least they could have covered the outsole bit more strategically. Adidas SL 2 and Hoka Mach 6 will go for less and offer basically similar things.
    I used to love Nike shoes but now they are overpriced and outperformed by other brands.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  2 місяці тому +1

      Agree on the outsole layout, though it does work. I've had to run over gravel on asphalt in this shoe on every run (there is alot of construction and lot clearing on part of my daily route) and have had no issues with the exposed area. This formula of ZoomX seems very durable. That being said, it wouldn't be mu first choice for gravel roads, especially as a midfoot striker.
      I'll be back with a durability checkin video on this one in Sept I think...

  • @AnDre-fj5lb
    @AnDre-fj5lb 2 місяці тому

    If I'm a mid/forefoot striker, why would I need so much foam in the heel??
    thats the problem with the 10mm drop, you have useless foam in the heel, and no foam where you need it.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  2 місяці тому

      ZoomX is so compressive if you had a low drop in this shoe it would feel like a negative drop and be very awkward to run in. Also as a midfoot striker you actually benefit from a high drop. It helps stabilize your foot strike.
