- Okay, now the fire hazard in the work shop is over. With this chop saw I save my lungs, time and possibly money when using non abrasive cutting blade instead of a regular abrasive cutting disc. The cut is more accurate and the cut surface needs almost no deburring. This video shows the first impressions on the saw - I have no long-term experience with it yet. I will do another video when I have had more hours of work on it. Thanks for watching!
This saw was provided for me by Evolution Power Tools.

I use one of these chopsaws everyday at work. If you go through the steel at a sensible speed the blades last a lot longer than the claimed 20 times longer than an abrasive blade. I had one of these blades in for 7 months and used it everyday until I had 2 days off work and some idiot was cutting steel too fast with too much pressure on the blade so I had to change it when I got back to work. The trick is to let the saw do the work and cut at it’s own speed with gentle pressure on the blade and the blades will almost last forever. These saws are Awesome !
The people who worry about sparks should be more concerned with the nasty dust that abrasive saws/grinders make.
hacking metal dust out of your lungs and blowing rusty black boogers out of your nose is way more dangerous than some sparks hitting the ground.
Yr right there, abrasive saws no where as good as this.
I grind steel rod stock everyday, so I wear mask andI use magnet near the cut area. You won't believe what the magnet gets with all the metal dust. Coudnt imagine those particle goes in your lungs..
That’s putting your tools to the test! You might need a new blade now 😂
🤣🤣
You cut a 90 mm steel rod with an angle grinder lol I feel your pain brother
My Evolution Saw is over 10 years old.
Still good as new !
Nice post to the group in the welding and aluminium this my is Francis f Sesay I like
How many blades did you use in 10 years ?
@@agguilarmetalwork4494
Around 2 a year
two scammers above me just sayin :)
Congratulations on your new tool. I remember the first day i got my new chop saw. It was like the first day with a new wife--except I didn't have to train it or pretend I was listening to it. All things should be as easy as getting a new chop saw.
Dennis I don't see water combined working
love my evolution but you better really clamp material down, blades seem to last forever
Looks awesome, I want one. I think a squirt of WD40 or other lubricant during the cut would go a long way to keep your blade cooler and cut even faster\cleaner
wd40 will burn fast and wouldnt give anything except of unpleasant smell. Only constant cooling by coolant, but it's impossible 'cos of danger of electrical shock. And, i think, manufacturer would wrote something about cooling, if it is necessery.
@@СтаниславЩ unpleasant smell? youre a monset if you dont like the smell of wd40
Lubricant is not necessary. I own one and after two years and frequent use, the blade hasn't shown any sign of wear. Regards.
I have several saws using these carbide blades and about every 10 cuts or so, I hit 'em with a tube wax lubricant. Lifetime supply for about $15. and you can really extend the life of the blade. Slow and steady is the best (ask your wife)....
that's the end of that blade
Your wrong. I own the same saw that I've been using for over a year. I've cut heavy and light steel, aluminum and even a little wood. Original blade is still cutting well.
About half way through the bar stock, the chips turned red. I think that was the end.
@@albs1957 where can I buy one of these blades?I have a saw(different brand)but it has the grinder type material blades.if one of these is equal to 20 of the one I have,I'm sold!can you send me a link?
Saw this video last week, ordered the saw that evening, it arrived a few days later, I have been using it and love it.
Better than any metal saws I have had before.
Thanks for this video, I would not have bought this saw without this and the comments here.
Why you don't put the link where you bought bro?
Having used both a metal chop saw and a band saw in a machinist shop work I still prefer the bandsaw. Yes they can be a bit more bulky and can take up space, but with them you can run a cutting coolant to prolong the life of the blade. Where with a chop saw I've seen coolant used on them and warp the blade. And they can qet very expen$ive. Milwaukee brand makes a 'PORTA-BAND' saw that in many cases are much better option to a chop saw.
True, i sold my cold cut saw and im getting bandsaw, to expensive cuts for me. They tell you that saw last 20 abrasives, but not tell you that you need to resharpening it. Period from sharp blade to dull is life time of one abrasive blade and abrasive blade is cheaper than resharping cold cut saw. I will buy bandsaw whitout coolant system (much cheaper) then add collant system by my own.
I was cringing while you were cutting the solid bar I was wondering should u use liquid cutting spray to help
chips are looking awful hot/molten around the 4:00 mark.. is the blade still good? wonder if it was too much feed pressure or if it just shouldnt cut this much without a break to cooldown at the halfway point
maybe manually spray some coolant on the larger cuts like these
I want to build a cooling system on it to make cutting more convenient.
sounds like simple project, filter/ recycle the coolant hopefully dislike coolant being dumped down the drain
i have the 10" evo cold cut saw and ive noticed it doesnt like thick round stock.. heavy square tubing is fine.. only reason i see for this is clamping variations.. so i recommend making sure you put all itll suffer into clamping stock down to get consistent tests
A liquid coolant would make a mess, use a dry lubricant such as foxfirelubricant.com/ there are others out these, this is just one
Andrew Browner The problem is not the way you clamp it. The blade cuts a curve into stock metal. There is no possibility for the chips to get out of the cut. When cutting tube the blade makes two cuts and the chips get out of the way easily. For a cooler cut and a longer blade life, just interrupt the cut a couple times, let the blade turn freely and cool itself down. For round stock with this diameter, I would recommend to cut it in at least 8 portions with about 8-10 seconds of cool down time between.
But that’s valid for all types on chop saws when you cut into thick material. You do the same when drilling holes into soft wood. Otherwise there will be too much friction between the chips and the blade/drill bit.
During to cutting iff bore oil applied blades will last longer
Water is better , cools off faster
Works better when you wax the blade before each use (saves carbides)
@@AndyLumex

Your going to kill your blade sawing square tubing like that! Those sparks are from the blade trailing edge friction. TCT welded inserts on the blade will chip easily with this style of cutting.
You seem knowledgeable. You know the life of the blades? I do commercial framing an it's all abrasive disks. Think it would be worth the money for me, buying this?
I have bought also Evosaw355, thank you for example. Is very fast making clean cuts. I am trucker and reairing and building everythint to truck and also old excawator so dont need it so much like you, but helps really much me too.
The first time I saw this saw was at a trade show. I chopped a quarter inch steel plate. I got no swarf on my clothes. I was wearing a suit. We bought 4 of these for my installation teams.
@Tibor Uray hello, how much cutting depend of what you cut and how... It's suposed to cut only max thickness: 6mm ! More thickness make the blade overheat and kill it dam fast... You also have to limit the pressure on the blade when thickness is max or over, again overheat problems... If you respect this, it last very long, and the cut is so fast, nice and doesn't heat steel, it's a need to have machine. But it has it's limit, ignore it and you can buy blades by 10! 😄
@@Feub69 Is it though? The green blades say max 3mm, the orange blades say 6mm, but the blue don't specify a maximum thickness at all.
¡Gracias!
Think of the time you'll save. Nice tool addition.
Think how many cuts you can do before servicing the disc at very high rates.

I would stay away from those saws because the blades are so expensive, get a bandsaw with liquid cooling.. those blades will last a long time because they don’t get that hot.Besides the circular metal saws throw chips all over the place which are dangerous. A trip to the hospital is very expensive.

Did that round stock cook that new blade?
Nope, it still cuts well.
That blade cost 100.00$ to.
The carbide blade is more expensive than abrasive blade。 isn't it?
Sure, look like it to me. Watch as the blade cuts deeper & sparks started flying. Obvious this is heat and heat dulls.
I would have used some cutting oil to extend the life of the blade.
@@Rambleon444 the hot chips are taking the heat away from the cutter and the work. That's the reason the piece wasn't excessively warm ... the only problem I could see was the amount of teeth in the work at one time. Not being able to clear enough fast enough.
Congrats! Congrats!
You need not to worry what the trolls have to say about safety, ie. sparks and fire hazard. Piss on them!!!

I've been eyeing one for AWHILE but I thought they had I recommend dia. limit like one inch.for solids....and only so thick..of plate! what the recommendations?
I have used a 14" Evolution chop saw for years and love it, when I figured out the reason why it cuts steel so well (slow speed) I took a table saw and slowed the blade to 1700 rpm and with a cheap 71/4" 40 tooth carbide ($10:00) wood blade. I can cut steel almost as fast as wood with all the accuracy that's built in the table saw. Nobody has this on UA-cam. This will be the next best tool you will use

Very happy for you! It does a great job on threaded rod too. Make sure you are always making chips with it. The chips carry away the heat. Just nice even firm pressure on the cut.
Yup, like on wood cutting blades. I wanna add some coolant system on it in the future.
Don't use liquid coolant - - carbide teeth will chip if they are thermally shocked.
A Compressed air blast works good.
Thanks for the tip. I contacted the company and they didn't recommend the usage of coolant either. Plus using compressed air is a really simple way compared to liquid coolant. Cheers!

the things a pos. I just threw mine away. I don't recommend this brand to anyone. Mine ate blades and they couldn't be resharpened because the blades were always cracked. When I contacted the company they told me it was my fault because I had too much vibration. Saw had bad bearings and they refused to stand behind the product. The casing cracked and parts fell off.
I will get to know this saw more in the future. This was just an initial tryout. I hope you find a saw that suits your needs. Thanks for watching!

That’s actually a really ugly cut.Mainly because the steel was bouncing up and down During the cut Due to being clamped only horizontally. The blades I make can cut through 304 stainless With an excellent finish and a run out On a 4 inch test cut piece of just .02 mm.
Worth buying good products,i like it very much nothing much to say hats off evosaw 355
Am I the only one that noticed the sparks half way through the cut? That was the end of the blade. If he tried to make another cut on the same stock, at half way through, the blade would be devoid of any tooth like things anymore. I'm talking, just a round, smooth disc.
For cutting big stuff like that you should have a horizontal band saw
I much agree. This thing takes up a little less space but is much more expensive and much more work.
I want rhis
i got a saw like this from "holzmann"...the quality of the cuts is very good but the saw was broken after 10 hours of work...it overheats very fast and the rotor was melted...hm...and another thing thats not good enough for me is the time the blade stands sharp...you can see it in this video too.
in the beginning there are no sparks and at the end of those view cuts it sparks like hell and the sharpness is gone.
not my favorite tool for cutting steel. i prefer a cold-saw with coolant...no sparks, realy quiet and no heat or dirt...much better
you are right anyone using a chop saw needs a fire ex near buy
If you think about it this is really a funny video. It's a video about a really powerful heavy duty saw. But yet it's packed in so much styrofoam than it would leave a hole in the ozone layer once you open the box. 😆
I have such a saw. After 20 - 30 cuts blade become completely dull. And those blades are very expensive - $50 - $80 per blade depending on size. Too expensive for me.
Kothay pabo.
We have it in stock do you still want to get this machine ?
Really nice tool im glad you found a safer alternative that puppy cuts really clean
I'm glad too. Don't have to wear that breath restrictive dust mask that often anymore too.
I have one. It eats steel but it doesn't cut square. The blade is off by about 1.5 degrees from top to bottom. Also the scale on the adjustable vice is terrible and its impossible to set it to a cutting angle accurately.
If you saw such blanks, the disk will not last for a long time, up to half of the cut the chips were light, and then the teeth began to deteriorate and the chips went red! If you only saw the profile, then Yes, it will work .
I have one and it cuts ok. Its major flaw is that it does not cut square in either direction. No adjustment for the vertical angle so your cuts are always off. I would not purchase another.
