- There is a lot of buzz about the Jawa brand of bikes over the past few months. Mostly good but some bad also. In this video I try and get to speak with some owners of these bikes and figure out if they are satisfied customers or are the issues for real.

Hi all,
This is Chandru from Chennai.
Having a month old jawa 42.
My review after a one full month of ride.
I have did 2300km in a month. I have faced some issues but after that I even got solution from service engineer regarding it. I took my bike from JMB Motors who are a well experienced player in bike world. They are the dealer from Kawasaki, Hyosung, Aprilla, Yamaha. So they have good expert service team. Your bike is a good one or bad one is decided only by your service dealers, so choosing a right dealer is important here.
Let me say about the best part of Jawa 42.
-Bike is much easy to handle.
-Pick up
-I am getting a milage of 32 during peak traffic, 35 during moderate traffic and 38 at highway
-Control
-Braking and braking ratio in dual abs. Bybre brakes does its work simply superb.
-Engine tuning. Power and torque are perfectly balanced
Issues I faced
-Fuel indicator does not work properly. Solution is always ignite the vehicle at straight position and don't ignite the vehicle when the vehicle is slanting position.
-Seats are too hard and that makes us to feel shocks are not working properly so please add a seat cover with some more cushion.
-don't bend the vehicle too much then side stand and muffler will hit the road. Feel it as cruiser bike and ride it.
-Gear shift is much harder for first and second gear shift. This will get smoothen.
-Heating issue is there but it will be sorted only after 3 services
-rusting issue may come so please do polishing and buffing to prevent rusting, it may cost somewhere around 2000rs.
-Like RE we don't have get any after sale market accessories for cosmetic upgrades. It may take some more months to have after sale accessories.
-We can feel vibration above 100kmph. We can't see anything clearly in side mirror above 100kmph but unlike RE it's not going to be major complaint I guess.
I've booked perak and waiting for its arrival, can't wait to be on it

@Saleem syed I am planning to buy 42 and the main concern is about its mileage, there are lot of reviews with different no. Some says 25, some says 28...... Etc. Can you tell me how much actually it's milage before and after 1,2 and 3rd service. Thank you

I have bought a Jawa Classic in September 2019. And i haven't faced any major issue. Only issues are slightly low ground clearance and relatively harder seat.
But cushioned cover and removal of main stand easily remove these.

Utni achi nhi hai performance low hai engine k according service theek hai parts expensive hai honest review 3 out of 10 gaadi chalate waqt engine se jyada noise aata hai silencer se kum.

When i told my friend (re owner) that i am planning to buy this bike then he told it looks so ugly with that radiator grill and has no sound...😂😂😂😂 after this we are no longer friends

I test rode Jawa Classic and Jawa42 once when I went in for the service of my Interceptor 650 (Jawa showroom was closeby) and I really liked it... If I wanted a classic looking bike within 2 lakhs I would've definitely gone for the Jawa instead of the RE-350 for sure.
When I reached the RE service center to pick my bike up and shared my experience with people (customers waiting for their classic 350) they got offended and said that Jawa bekar hai nakli hai feel nahi hai etc.... But honestly 350 doesn't stand a chance against Jawa in terms of what they are.
A classic 500 owner here. If I have some more money, I will get a Perak as well. Such a lovely machine.

Too much frequent gear changes in city area. Almost have to go to first gear every time for pick up again.

Yes i had some problems..
1: my bikes alignment was out
2:rust and paint chip off
3:sound from speedometer
4:within 2 weeks my bikes spark plug..was dead
All this within 2 weeks
But each problem was solved
They came to home to change spark plug and definitely its head turner..i hv jawa classic..and whenever you stop somewhere definitely 4 or 5 min people will ask how you about this bike
Thanks for speaking up..people need to know..even i have booked one and waiting..but hearing these problems..it's 2 lakh one and how can such silly quality issues happen..it's questions how worth is this..the looks are wow but seems that's what they are playing with
I have dual channel JAWA classic. In first month I faced silencer rusting and changed from service centre. In second month faced lambda sensor failure and replaced. Engine malfunction light on and visited service centre . Paint peel off in washing. Now oil seepage from engine black. Now service centre has called for speedometer replacement. This is till 1400 kms.

Ashish, hope you have noticed that one of the owners you interviewed, seems to have replaced the stock seat of the bike, and used one like that of the RE TB350X. Can we expect a video on the possible modifications on Jawa?

Your reviews are excellent and are made with real insights of the vehicle. This episode was awesome getting so many owners together is awesome.
As a Jawa owner, I faced below few niggles which should not have been there actually but can do away with:
1. Low ground clearance with pillion. Bike brushes on speed bumps and while taking turns
2. Abrupt reading of fuel indicator. Low fuel indicator comes live sometimes even when fuel is greater than 1/4 capacity
3. Seat is hard but hasn't affected me personally yet in 600km total run (mostly city)
4. Engine gets mighty heated within half an hour's ride and one can feel it at calf's
5. Wheel alignment not perfect, my rear brake pads keeps on brushing the wheel.. wheel not free... This despite taking to service centre once

True Indian I am getting around 35 kmpl. Have removed the DB Killers.

True Indian silencer sound improves after you remove the pipes inside them.
Which one is yours ? 42 or classic?
Does Jawa uses Mahindra engine ? I have a 9 year old Mahindra rodeo and around 50000 km ran. But still it is performing awsome and no vibrations at top speed and no reduction in top speed as well. I just changed rear shock absorber after using 8 years also my scooter is a victim of Kerala flood affect but still works as earlier. Thus i will say it is better than activa engine. If this has Mahindra engine i will buy Perak.

Hi brooo which bike have you ordered
I have Jawa 42 Dual Channel ABS delivered on 21 Feb 2020. It is having ECU Malfunction light on and ABS is not working properly and my bike is at showroom from 2 day. It is not expected from a brand new bike. Dissapointed by jawa i have to take off from work as jawa service is off on sunday and i have to go for work on another vehicle. I have purchased the bike for riding not to keep in showroom/service.

People who are talking about ground clearance of jawa and 42 ( 165mm) Perak (145mm) and Re 350 is (135mm)...
If you are on hilly states, obviously you will get lots of rains. 7 months of Rains in Arunachal. So, there is highly chance of rusting
Earlier there was a false propaganda against KTM. The same people must be trying to damage the reputation of Jawa also. I've ridden KTM 390 and a few of my friends have been using KTM bikes for the last 4-5 years. All of them are really happy with their bikes. Similarly two of my friends have bought Jawa 42 about 6 months ago and till date they have not experienced any issues.

Jawa bikes are good , but I found 2 problems in it first seat comfort and second ground clearance. I owned three RE ( 1982, 2015 350 TB and 2016 Electra 350 ) still I'll prefer Jawa ower RE
Thought to drop in a comment.....50k bikes sold in 12 months...that's success !!! Bullet maybe selling 50k per month...but that doesnt mean jawa is not selling. 4,000 per month is not a tiny number.
Best option for people with low height . Pillion seat is not that comfortable. Slight vibration in foot pegs. Poor instrument cluster and maybe too much gear changes in traffic are problems with the bike. It's best for highway cruising at 80-100kmph.
The only reason to buy JAWA is I am irritating by the noise of bullet...

Issues are there. Jawa should concentrate on ground clearance. On instrument cluster, there are lot more things to do. The cluster is practically outdated. Jawa should on focus on shocker issues as well. The shock absorber ia stiff though adjustable.

my only concern is mileage of 42 that gentleman is saying he is getting above 35...really. ? cause he is the only one i have heard on youtube who i saying he gets 38-40 avg.....if its giving 35 will buy it
some of the People at my Dealership don't have any Customer Experience skills, they are not co-operative at all. I complained but nothing happened, that's the biggest flaw, they are only concentrating on Sales but nothing on After Sales which will make them pack up, once again.

Sir one Suggestion please Told Mahindra that take only limited Orders. Orders zyada hain Delivery nahi ho pa rahi hai to They start making it Fast and in that you lost the quality so don't hesitate and make it Awesome by time
how can u say just because it stays long in rain or heavy monsoon it can cause rust issues..i hav an avenger which is almost 15 yrs and apart from small rusting in silencer there has been no rust issues at all..I'm from Kerala and use the bike pretty rough..common u spend 2 lakh for a bike and don't give such silly reasons..and by the way if the bike is reall good u don't need such social media campaigns to justify myths,facts..the bike will be a hit of its good..people are not fools

Jawa bikes are good but as Jawa owner, i experience that Dealerships have large scope of improvement as well as more trained mechanics at service center.. These are two black areas n not even the grey area... However bike is good except the hardest clutch in the segment...

I have done my 2nd servicing recently. Before that, there was a sound in the engine. The clutch housing was changed. After some days they have to change my tensioner because of a major sound. And now I am having another sound in the engine, when it gets hot. The bike is good. But I am facing engine issues and it's frustrating me.
How was the humb when with your pillion?? Is the silencers rubbing??

This Brand looks very nice and actractive. But often the same problem, Sir. Lots of very interesting motorcycle's videos from India have title and intro in English (like this). Unfortunately after opened the video, you realised that English speech is almost difficult to understand or/and is not true English (Hindi or local dialect) . It is frustrating, because viewer looses his interest for the video. Why do not you declare the spoken language previously? Or at least give us under-titles in English? Thumb down, sorry :(

There's a myth behind every bike. Some of these bikes had a major issues and some are flawless. There are people who says only metal made bikes are the best but that's not 100% true. Some bikes which are made of plastic and fibre parts are very good and realiable. Do not hesitate to take test ride and check out for yourself and make your decision based on that.
