My last visit to Udupi Sri Krishna Bhavan in Balepete for an early tiffin coincided with the conclusion of their lunch service. I watched some of the lunch crowd relishing their thali meals, and made a note to return for the same someday. And so when on a recent visit to Chickpete, a lunch opportunity suddenly opened up, I lost no time in heading to this near-100-year-old eatery to taste their South Canara lunch. It’s a simple affair - couple of vegetable preparations, lentils, rasam, poori and rice, even a sweet - quite homely in its taste and sumptuous enough to fill one’s belly for a very affordable Rs. 110 only. And consumed in the restaurant’s heritage setting, it is also the sort of meal that transports one back to ‘good ole yesteryear’! Definitely plan a lunch here when in the area.
Hope you enjoy this episode; take care, stay safe and strong. Happy eating!

I remember visiting this restaurant in 1956 as a college student along with my classmates and ate their famous Masala dosa in the evening -- Kapali
Almost on his every episodes nearly 15% of the video will be covered with his fans greeting him😅
That's how big his fan base is..❤️
Well this is a restaurant that’s nearly a century old. How do I know that , just one dish, they used yams. I believe
any restaurant that uses local ingredients , like yam, bitter gourds, etc etc. must be supported.
Thank you Kripal sir, your presentation was exquisite, especially after you tasted the raw mango chutney. Your eyes lit up. 😊
18:43 is the epic moment for me! Loved it.
Dear Sir I am from Kolkata visited all over world. Pls describe recipe of ragi mudde with mutton curry. I love South Indian food. I pray you make one million videos and I get to watch them.
As a native eater of the dishes you asked about, I'm humbled and grateful for your interest. Hope Kripal gets the time to answer this. In the meantime, Ragi Mudde is eaten in South KA, Western AP and North TN, so there are some variations they bring to it across these regions. But the basic point is have Ragi made into a very fine Atta which is kneaded with extremely hot boiling water. It's an art to slowly knead the fine powdery Ragi atta with special wooden bats turning it over and over again without leaving a speck of ragi loose which might become yucky powder globules within the Ragi Ball. After kneading, they're turned into sizeable round balls, sometimes done with ghee laden hands for them to be extra smooth. Some regions also use cooked rice along with the ball for fortification.
The ragi ball is had usually with varieties of leafy or veggie Saru-curry or with non veg curries which obviously are more delicious with their inbuilt fat laden curries. The Ragi Mudde can also be had with just ghee in the middle.
Mutton Saru also varies from place to place in KA so it's difficult to pin point any particular Saru but you can say the most prominent ones are the ones with lots of greens based on coriander and garam masala of coriander seeds, ginger paste and green chillies and bit of dry coconut shavings. There are Red Saru also from the red chilly.
Remembering my childhood. I used to regularly visit the restaurant for idĺi sambar and sagu dossa with my father.
Am happy it took you back to your childhood, Bina, hope you caught our earlier episode where we tasted the sagu dosae too. ua-cam.com/video/fNpU3b6JUzI/v-deo.html
For one fleeting second, I was wondering, if the outlet was taking their love for beetroot a level higher with that crimson red concoction after the paleya & rasam! 🤪😊
Coming back to the episode, the meal was simplicity at its very best 🍛 Love how thalis down South, keep their fare light, seasonal and fresh. Add any kind of payasa/kheer/payesh to it and it just transcends into something else.
😀yes, simple but wholesome and with everything that one needs.
Kripal, that gentleman paid you the richest ever compliment you could hope for. Mentioning your expressions when you taste a delicacy and how they rub on instantly to your viewers. Yes, your expressions are indeed contagious and makes one feel as if, he himself is relishing the dish. A highly discerning viewer of yours....!! Keep going Mate...!! 👍👏✌️

*It is time you represent the department of tourism nationally* perhaps ? Sanjeev Sanyal says that the PM is receptive to ideas and will change his mind if he otherwise thought so. The Maharashtra on the lips is very poorly done
Prices are very high, EXPENSIVE and unaffordable, Sorry !!
I also felt the price ₹110 is very high. They don't even serve kosambari, bonda , veg pulao for it also
Kripal Sir Energy levels were Low in this video ... The Happiness which he used to have on his face while munching food is missing... It seems he had fight with the Boss at home while leaving out for vlogging.. Or some other Tension in his life 😊
80 rs south meals is always good. Don't show what we have already seen.
Please visit some 5* hotel, if you can afford and show us how it is.
Sikho
Why don't you use your influence to tell those people to use a spoon to handle the masala in the Masala Dosa; it's such a put off!
