What I'm still unsure about is whether the Man in Black was really Jacob's brother or just the Smoke Monster pretending to be him. It seems as though we're meant to assume it's the brother because he wanted to leave and so does fake Locke, but that could be because the Monster absorbed his memories. Perhaps before that it was just a mindless force that existed to protect the island, that would make more sense as to why he can't be allowed to leave, because there needs to be a Smoke Monster and it would throw off the natural balance or something.

This is a beautiful and emotional scene. I love it. But I can´t help thinking that instead of closing the door Charlie could have just get out of there, along with Desmond, and swim back to the surface. It seems he shut the door in order to save Desmond because the whole station was going to get flooded, but they had plenty of time before that could happen, they could have just escape together. Any thoughts?
*sigh* in desmond's vision he saw penny and also charlie drowning but told charlie he saw claire and aaron on a helicopter also if he didnt die that day he was gonna die another day his life was gonna be worthless and when he dies desmond was gonna blame himself also Dominic Monaghan actually wanted to quit the show because he was dating Evangeline but then they broke up but look on the other side if he died in an another way (without desmond visions) maybe it wouldnt be beatiful and emotional as this one :)
He closed the door so that Desmond's vision wouldn't alter and that Claire would end up on the helicopter...however Smokey changed this... Mikhail knocks before blowing up the grenade...Why? It seems like he gives a moment for Charlie to realise what he has to do (I don't know how Mikhail could know this though...maybe through Ben...) but he does knock... In the end they both want the same thing, for Charlie to die...Indeed Ben told Mikhail that the Island requested his death and that death was to drown, which is why Mikhail didn't just throw a grenade towards Charlie... Hopefully that helped ^^
What piece from the soundtrack did you use for the finale? I really love that version. Didn't think there was possibly a more beautiful piece from Michael Giacchino than what was used in the actual finale. Agree 100% with it as #1 top moment. It's got me bawling all over again .
I'm OK with the finale being #1, but there are a lot of other suspect choices. I think I agree with only half of this list. Desmond's call to Penny? Boone's death/Aaron's birth? Some of Eko's scenes? Pretty much anything in the first two seasons would beat #10 and #9. Certainly an odd selection...
#10 was awesome because it is all about time and paradoxes, you can't get more mysterious than with a paradox. And #9 was awesome because it was a rescue and they almost ran out of runway. Personally I don't care for Charlie's death or the "We have to go back", I think those can be easily beaten.

It was definitely not Jacob's brother as he was buried with the mother. That was whatever came out of the cave and was able to assume identities.
