Michelle, I picked up my clarinet and began playing again about 8 years ago. I hadn't played since high school and wanted to play in my church orchestra. I recently got a wonderful compliment from my orchestra director. He told me I was the most improved musician he had. It made my day! But I never had the opportunity to take private lessons in high school and don't have the time now. There is so much more I could do with my horn and your videos are invaluable! Thank you!
After 30 years of not playing the clarinet and wanting to get back into it, I found out how much help I need to begin playing again. Your videos have been really helpful and I am looking forward to watching more. Thank you for posting these videos
I have seen many people come back to the clarinet after years away from it, and I am amazed at how quickly old skills come back to them. My guess is that you will improve quite quickly. Of course, it helps to be reminded of the best habits as you retrain your body, but much will be already in your brain. Good luck! - Michelle
It is always great to be acknowledged for the great work that you are doing. I am glad you have an opportunity to play with others. It always help to motivate musicians. Thanks for the kind words, and good luck with your playing. - Michelle
Hi Michelle I have been very impressed with your video's in fact so much so that I have now signed up for your full course. You deliver the videos in such a clear and concise way that I feel I am actually learning something useful. I have just completed lesson 1 and can't wait for lesson 2. What I am really impressed with is the fact that you can also learn the music theory and in particular the Rhythem in the background whilst concentrating on playing your instrument using the videos. Thanks
Lizard Brain is so important in music to us. We can all benefit from using it in the best way, and, noticing when it is getting in our way. I hope this helps you in future.
It sure is! I'm now 2 moths practicing my clarinet and i realy like / love the instrument. I play the guitar originally and the clarinet is helping me with that as wel in a way.
Hi Sherrie - I'm glad you enjoyed this video. The orb is a very sophisticated, nano-technology "Lizard Brain Translator" that warns me in the practise room when I am inadvertently programming the wrong habits. Once the prototype is finished, I hope to share it with musicians everywhere! :) (Until then, we all need to learn to recognize it ourselves...) - Michelle
Fundamentals would include air warmups, finger warmups and articulation warmups. Some of these you can find organized by category at: www.clarinetmentors.com/videos/index.html
Wuts with the barrel on ur clarinet? Practice 30 minutes a day, and bassoon is a woodwind too, there are... B-flat clarinet, A-flat clarinet, Bass clarinet, Alto-sax,, Tenor-sax, Baritone-sax, Beginning flute, Intermediate flute, Expert-flute(lol idk), Oboe, Heckle style Bassoon, then just Bassoon. wtf
I am a 66 year old new clarinet student. I have a wonderful teacher but i really enjoy your coaching as well. Your videos are wonderful.
