The great MD RAVI had more silver jubilee films than any other MD in Hindi cinema. So he should have been called "JUBILEE MD RAVI" as Rajendra Kumar is called as JUBILEE Kumar for his more Jubilee films in Hindi cinema in acting. This is my personal view and suggestion. .
I can feel that the music composed by Ravi ji are really simple, sweet and low key. He had always allowed the vocal to dominate the song. That was his greatness

Tunes prepared by Ravi Ji are so simple to follow but so melodious. And rendered by Rafi Ji , it is like sone pe suhaga. Rafi Ji lived his early 18 -19 years in Amritsar and Lahore, his ‘ Talufaz’ of Urdu & Punjabi is very very commendable and correct. His phonetics are very clear. That’s why nobody could utter ‘ Raha Gardishon mein’ correctly .
I still remember the first time I came to know about Ravi Saheb as a composer. That was 44 years ago and the song was by Mahendra Kapoor from the film Humraz, "Tum agar saath dene ka wada karo." From that point onward, I have retained the same passion and respect for Ravi, particularly his songs sung by Mohammad Rafi. Long live his sangeet!
Though Ravi single handedly gave superb songs to Mahendra Kapoor in comparison to other music directors ,yet at the same time for Rafi he composed some of the very best classics.. not even attempted by the great Naushad, Madan Mohan, SJ duo, SD Burman, LP or KA duo . ( BTW I am a big fan of all these music directors plus Roshan and Khayyam as well )

@@balaji-kartha - the reason Ravi is not a house hold name is very simple. Unlike Naushad, SJ, SDB etc. the focus was never with a mass hero . Sunil Dutt was at the most 'not a bad' actor category . he certainly was not in the same big league like Dilip, Dev & Raj . And also Ravi never chose great orchestration for his songs . very few songs like .."age bhi jaane na do "...has really beautiful orchestration ..his masterpiece was all time hit 'Chaudavin ka chand' but it never required much orchestration. finally the biggest reason is Rafi/Lata, Kishore/Lata , Mukesh /Lata duets are music more popular than his choice of singers .....and finally he focused on lyrics with great lyricist like Sahir . So incidentally those who love Ravi's music is always with lyrics in mind likes of Sahir etc ( Same for Khayyam & Roshan ..the other two great maestro who knew how to work with Sahir ). Typically Naushad, SJ, SDB are not that famous for irresistible " lyrical songs" . Please do not mistake me . Shakeel , Majrooh, Shailendra, Hasrat ..are no doubts ..the big name ...)

Badly made 'B' or worse 'C' grade moves, with bad actors , terrible picturisation and no money for big orchestras! Sahil himself, some say because of his haughty superior attitude where he would not write to a tune but expected music directors to make tunes to his lyrics, never got work from the 'celibrity' music directors! One will find many gems in the Bombay film industry who did not / would not bow down to the demands of money / greed / commercialization that rules there.

Rafi Saaheb & Raviji combo along with some of the best lyricist like Shakeel Badyunvi, Rajendra kishan, Sahir Ludhyanvi, Asad Bhopali, S.H. Bihari, Prem Dawan have given us many many super duper songs which wil never be forgotten. All i can say to them is Thanks a miillion from the bottom of my heart..
Rafi should not be compared to any other singer . Comparison should be done when 2 persons are of the same level. He enjoyed singing. He did not sing for money.

I am pretty sure that Ravi, indeed, had the highest percentage of hit songs with Rafi Saheb. While this is a matter of opinion, I doubt anyone comes close to Ravi as far as soft romantic tunes were concerned. Also, Ravi has composed the best songs for Asha Bhonsle apart from O. P. Nayyar.
