This is one of the finest popular songs ever written. It is interesting to hear how little Gary Brooker's voice changed over the years, by listening to their inaugural official video recording.
Love the Hammond organs too! Had lessons on one, growing up. Thanks to my dear music head Dad, had a Baldwin CT2 with a Leslie at home, growing up! As they say, the rest is history!! Peace out.
This year I'm 72 and remember this so well from 60s. It's accompanied me through all my life. Good times and not so good. I still love it every time I hear it and it awakens in me memories of yesterday
A ja odwrotnie. Będę mogła słuchać Jego głosu, a jeśli On zechce ,to nawet słuchać wiecznie. Przyszłość jest piękna. Pozdrawiam.
Was born in 67 so I can't help say this is what you call true musicians, what's real in musicianship, some of the best at their craft, up on stage being backed by a whole orchestra, beautiful stuff, the sound out of this world..................💪💪👍🙏🙏🙏🎶🎼🎶🎼🎹
"I'm not sure if we played this the last time..." . Little tongue in cheek there. I'm sure that he wouldn't have been allowed to leave town until he did.

This song was used to signify closing time every night at the bar in a college town I worked at fifty years ago. Being a slow dance song it was not only last call at the bar but also last call for the guys to either get their new found loves phone numbers or perhaps be invited home. Memories do turn to black and white but such songs bring it all back.
13 when this came out. Still love it, but now I dream of youth and love vicariously through my grandchildren. As I sit here, I think of the original video and about those people in it. Who were the beautiful women. The police officer. Perhaps one day I'll know.

Over the years, bands I played with used this masterpiece as a secret weapon and/or knockout punch, strategically placed as the last, or second to last, song of the night, in clubs or dances. This was manna from heaven for many attendees, giving them the perfectly timed shot for a slow dance and legitimate excuse to get their arms around the one they were with. It also delivered the subliminal message that we had to be one of the greatest bands they'd ever seen. It was a very effective tactic. 😎
