Worth watching just to see Birchy on a DR650 😁 Good job man 💪
You're a Saint Chris. We all need more friends like you!
Really nice of you to do that. Looked like a brutal rescue.
Legend! I did a bike course with Birch. Sure I needed to learn some skills and he is easily the best instructor there is, but really just wanted to meet the legend himself…
What a normal person can't do... absolutely speechless. A lot of mud, water, and he was riding like on the asphalt! Chris Birch is Chris Birch, period. Thanks for the video!
The conclusion is that a ktm owner would do anything to get his hands on a dr650
Thanks for all the positive comments! It's more than I could ever reply to. I'll try and keep the videos coming.
We should all have a Chris Birch in our life 🤩
Holy smokes Birchy, what a hell of a recovery. Those DR's are so heavy, I can only imagine the struggles.
You’re an absolute legend Chris. I saw the post a couple days ago on Facebook as well and great that you were able to help out. Shows true character and the type of person you are and the willingness to help out another kiwi rider in distress 👍🔥💯
Birchy's Fan-Made adventure....done with the greatest care possible haha
Chris your such a great guy, you helped me on trail at the KTM rally in Idaho with my 1090
A very well executed rescue! What is the story on the other bike that appears at 12:42, where the chain came off the rescued bike?
Yeah I was about to comment, looked like a T7🤔
I didn't know you were a Paleontologist. Digging out Dinosaurs.
Haha, this is wonderful. Watching You doing the Birchy-recovery, this in a laidback position waiting for the new bike to be delivered. Look forward to episode 2 😂🙌
Lift the front tire and put a log underneath the frame (put the log across the rut) and use the log as a lever to pry the back free.
Legend…. And what a great vid. I’ll message you if I ever get the 1290 stuck 😂
Nothing but a fuck tonne of respect for you Chris Birch. You’re welcome to ride with us any day.
Brilliant. Well done . and yes Matts off road recovery is strangely addictive.
Wow...I hope your buddy realizes what you went thru to get that out. I stuck my first new bike, 1973 yamy 360 Enduro, like that. Took 4 of us to get it out. Almost 50 years later I still ride . An 07 KTM super Enduro and a1090r. Thanks for posting and helping out your buddy: )
Not only a true Legend but a guardian angel as well!!!!Kudos man!!!! You’re a hero!!
How can you not love this man! Absolute legend! Hope to ride with you one day!
Good man!!! and you made a DR look lively lol. Probably the first time that front wheel has been in the air..
It’s good to know that sometimes even legends like CB struggle - great video!!!
Hope you made it back safely.
What an awesome thing to do.
Now I want to see Matt do a wheelie on a 1290!!
What a top bloke to do that for a stranger, you’re a good man Chris Birch.
What a mission and a credit to your skills, attitude and generosity. Someone must owe you big time. Thanks for getting dirty like the rest of us and sharing 👍
Dude is a bike angel with godly skills
Top bloke mate, good to see what gear and technique you can use to get a well and truly stuck bike out
On matts offroad recovery, that yellow international 4x4 truck with 4wheel steering is so choice I'm fully in love with it.
"He is still there to this day digging out with a stick! " You need Matt. Nice work as a good samaritan.
Brother, you like heavy bikes! DRZ-400 is heavy as I'll go. Got mine stuck in the mud flats in Utah. Had to walk out and come back the next day with a friend on a quad to get it out. I can't image pulling a DR-650 out. In any event, awesome videos you have.
Oh that NZ clay, I remember Thomson's Track many a times stuck up to the handlebars! breaking the back of the frame off trying to get it out
Awesome rescue. What a good samaritan! Spreading good vibes.
I’m incredibly impressed! Love your attitude!
What an incredibly generous thing to do, it looked bloody hard work too! Well done! Somebody owes you a beer 👍
Awesome recovery Chris, good stuff!
Well done Sir ... love your video Chris .. i knew it would be a success..
Mate... You ara a bloody legend. Well done.
The real lesson here is in remaining so good-natured when facing adversity. The guy is a saint.
Chris you are a legend. I would have had Tourrette's with what you went through there. Well done.
Wow, can't believe you got that out of there by yourself.
That taught me some learning for sure! thanks Chris
Great Chris and great DR650SE
I've been stuck like that a time or two always a great felling to get unstuck, even if you have drag it on it's side.👍
Wettest summer ever.
3 carabiners and a rope can make a drag line, a kind of force multiplying pulley system you can easily carry on a bike and doesn't take as much line length as a traditional block and tackle
Watched this from WA chuckling the whole way through. This was my brothers bike. Must have been hard to ride a bike set up for a short bloke🙃
Warn really should bring back those little 1000lb winches that they used to make.
Your a good man Chris well done
Thanks Chris! Another great lesson in addition to my SayNoToSlow.
Brilliant vid, love this, fair play 💪💪🏁🏁
No banana or Morvair or Lizzie I think you are a star doing that all by yourself. Love your Channel and Matts👍
That was awesome!
Great effort. You're a trooper(do what it takes). You've reminded and encouraged me to keep packing rope and a 5:1 pulley setup.
Your regular monsoon?
We're getting the atmospheric river in NA PNW.
What an absolute hero!! Nice work man!
Classic, saw the call for help on that fb group and someone joked about turning the recovery into a video and look what pops up. Thanks for being a gc and helping the poor fulla out!
Ok it’s about time there’s a bike version of Matt’s Offroad Recovery. And let’s all use what3words for sharing our locations. I’m a fan.
WoooW Chris! Thanks for the video! Defenitely my favorite :D Thanks for sharing this with us !
Yes, Matt seems like such a calm and nice guy. His trucks look nice.
As always mate,.... awesome video.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Right on Chris. Good job on getting that heavy bike unstuck.
You’re a legend bro
Love this ride. Grew up riding those high lines.
Excellent work. Thanks for sharing your experiences, they will come in handy.
Two of my favorite channels!! This is great, you’re a good mate for helping this guy out.😊 Well done Birchy!
Love it! Make some more videos!
Massive. Cool story. Legend.
I saw the original FB post and it was great that you recorded this. Good on you Chris!
Legend mate!! Top effort!
Looks like a little spade will now be part of my kit when I go off-road
Cheers 😎
You look like a natural on that DR !
The Dog Roota was my first ADV bike. I can't really say I miss it haha
Well done. What a mission!
12:43 looks like one more bike to recover 😆 🤣
I’m saw the tag at the time -well done mate ! You’re a good buggar.
Great video Chris. Really enjoyed watching this.
Nice Chris. Matts Off Road Recovery is great. Took my Drz400 in there fully loaded with camping gear made the right decision to turn around before that spot. Glad I did.
What a super video. Well done Chris. You’re such a nice guy.
Outstanding!!!
Friggin awesome! I ride around the mountains here in Colombia and need a good friend like you to rely on in times of need. I felt the dread looking at that trail, had a few surprises here but that trail is a doooozy!!!
I was following the post. Now we know Birchie is nearby we could try that on the GSA 😂. That bike was well stuck!! Good job. Nice rope work and awesome turnaround!
Awesome seeing you ride a DRZ!
@MattsOffRoadRecovery and you Birchy are the best channels on the UA-cam!
I think you need one of Matt's Dynamic recovery ropes hooked up to the 890 and then take a good run at it !!
Amazing Chris♨️
Amazing how hard it is to get a chain back on when it's so effortless to make it come off! Did the same thing in the bottom of a valley with my tw200
What an amazing thing to do your a Legend
Wow Chris you have much patience 👏👏👏👏👏 well done mate 👍
Brilliant Chris. Birchy's off-road recovery -- you need a rachet strap. I carry one for my solo adventures... as I'm not strong enough.
Haha, I saw this post for help on FB, Chris get tagged in it, then respond, now this… perfect!
What an awesome dude!!!
(Also like Matts off-road recovery 🙂)
The Hutt. That was a day to remember. And as I suspected you shined like the pro that you are. My wife rides a 2004 dr650. I'll be sure to let her know that if she sticks it you can help her out. Enjoy your videos chris always.
Great stuff Chris . For pulling with the rope check out 9 to1 z pulley systems for crevasse rescue. Trust me, it is soo much easier. You can literally pull the bike out just using very little effort.
I thought I'd let you know about this because I've learned soo much from your vids.
Everyone takes a nap now and then 😅.
Gave up some safety in some sketchy terrain. Glad you made it.
As if I am with you on this adventure, my friend, a good job. I wish you continued health.
legend effort Chris, what a good bastard 👍🏻👍🏻
Well done Chris. Was impressed with the rope system and very compact, not to mention your tenacity. Maybe we'll see a short vid of getting the KTM out!!
Nice one! Well done!
I made a lil rope with a stiff handle for rescues, to give me more leverage for situations just like this! I can loop it onto any part of the bike. A rope and knowledge of knots is a grt idea. Nice job dude
Would love to see more of these!
Ha ha I don't think this my new career
That is one proper worn track! Well done
