God the part where Sheapard’s breathing picks up and she starts frantically grabbing the hose and spinning… it’s still so chilling. The silent panic as she realizes she’s *dying* is crazy good. It’s so simple. No dialogue. The flailing wasn’t anything super dramatic. It was just a super raw and brief moment of this legendary hero realizing that she’s meeting an abrupt and brutal end and she has no idea how or why.
I’m so glad you had so many run-ins with Cerberus in the first game. It really enhances this game. A great start to a great game ^^ There is one little tip I would like to give in regard to combat: As a general rule of thumb, if you want to take out an enemy's additional shielding, then your best bets as far as weapons goes are the Submachine Guns and the Shotguns. If you want to penetrate an enemy's armour, then best bets are the Heavy Pistols and the Sniper Rifle (though as a Vanguard, you can't use Snipers). Assault Rifles can hammer all forms of defense equally as effectively, and while good overall they can't match the more specialized weapon roles (and I don't think Vanguards can use Assault Rifles either). However, that's just a general rule, specific weapons in the different categories may perform differently to the norm.
I love how the very last thing Shepard did before she died was making sure Joker was safe. You can see her closing the door to Joker's escape shuttle right before the final explosion that killed her.
I have thoroughly enjoyed your first mission and acquisition of the new NORMANDY milady! You'll want to reload your weapons often (keeping them fully loaded will allow you to pick up another Thermal Clip, you can only carry a limited number of them to start). Also... follow your familiar pattern of being thorough in your travels and searching rooms (you missed a few Data pads and other resources in side rooms back on the Lazarus Facility)! Resources are going to be acquired in a very different way in ME2 (and immediately vital)... 🥺 It is still very interesting and engaging to see you rationalize your decisions in real-time, it cements your final choice in our collective minds by going thru the process with you! A pleasure as always... ✌️😚 Until your next mission... FLY ON COMMANDER! 🖖😎
I was so excited waiting for you to watch the opening because I know what it felt like the first time I saw it and it was wonderful to watch your reactions! :)
I'm so happy I was able to catch the beginning of the stream to see your reaction to the opening. Loved seeing the rest of your introduction to ME2 and I cannot wait to see you progress through this game. It's my favorite of the trilogy and my favorite game all around. I'm sure others have mentioned, but my recommendation is to remember to search all around for datapads or other collectibles, you can often find lore building, credits, salvageable items that continue to build the world around you!!
@@LucyusMaximus Seeing your reaction to the opening 2 hours was amazing. So much happens in such a short amount of time, can't wait for the next stream/video!
I love that you took time to look at the ship when you could walk, some people miss the epic planet shot AND the movable chairs! lol.. I try to push one of the chairs into jokers area usually now lol.
it's truly amazing to see you experience this series for the first time, i wish i could do it again :') some spoiler-free gameplay pointers: - use squadmate powers a lot! when an enemy's health bar is blue, they have shields on, yellow means they have armor and purple means biotic barrier; different abilities will disable these and really ease things up for you, especially when fighting an enemy with several of these like the heavy mech. - when the power wheel is on, you can still turn the camera and look around. make sure the crosshairs are on top of an enemy; this will ensure the ability you're using will target them and not another enemy (or not do anything). - pay attention in cutscenes and be ready for paragon/renegade interrupts like the one with veetor! they can really change the narrative and some are only up on the screen for a few seconds, and will pass quickly! have fun with the game, i really can't wait to see what choices you'll end up making later on!!
1:30 I have been waiting for this moment since like the second episode of the first mass effect. Back in may when I found out your cat is called Fenris!
I’m so excited! I’m pretty new to Mass Effect too and I just finished it a few weeks back. I was a vanguard as well so I know just what someone’s first biotic charge feels like. Mass Effect 2 is the best out of the trilogy imo. Excited to see this!
I've played through the ME trilogy hundreds of times, and watched dozens of playthroughs for it, and the ME2 opening, with the Normandy getting wrecked, and Shep getting spaced, is STILL an HOLY $#!+ moment! One thing, that at least one other person has mentioned in these comments... You already saw how there are Paragon Interrupts (Left Trigger button, like you did when you found Veetor the Quarian), there are also Renegade Interrupts (Right Trigger button). Even though you're a Paragon for the most part, don't be afraid to use the Renegade Interrupt, in certain situations. For a non-spoiler example, I recommend using the Renegade Interrupt on characters who you can obviously tell are bad guys, or who are wearing enemy armors. But do NOT use the Renegade Interrupt on any of your crewmates, potential team mates, or NPCs who are neutral, unless you want to/plan to switch to playing as a Renegade full time. Oh, and also, The Paragon/Renegade Interrupts only flash on the screen for a couple of seconds (the Veetor one lasts a very long time because its part of the tutorial, but that's the only one that lasts long), so look for them during any conversations, and always be prepared to press the appropriate trigger VERY FAST, or else you'll miss them (and there are some which you DO NOT want to miss!...) Anyway, very good start (almost great, but not quite, because you did miss a few things - mostly Credits and some back-story stuff) since you rushed a bit through the Freedom's Progress mission and weren't your usual thorough self - no worries; it's quite understandable, since it was you first mission and you were obviously very excited to get through it), and I can barely wait till your next ME2 mission! See you then! 😃
Your play through made me want to replay this... Again😂😁 great to watch 😁 not to sound like Palpatine but we will watch your progress with great interest 😂😂😁
Ah yes, Cerberus, who is responsible for a not small amount of trauma and death in shepards life, lets just work for them with almost zero questions asked.... They really needed a Different Faction here, it makes zero sense that shepard doesn't shoot all of them first chance she gets given what they did on Akuze, as well as the murder of Admiral Kuhoku.
Welcome to ME2!! Love your joy in this, and congrats on a perfectly imported Shepard! (That doesn't always happen.) You know, I never knew Liara can take the VS's place in the intro because I can barely make myself romance Kaidan for the achievement in my least favorite Shepard playthrough. Dislike both the ME love interests for Fem!Shep. So there you are showing an old vet new stuff. Look forward to watching your playthrough!
I _love_ your expressions at 12:20 and 42:05 ... I have to admit I was spoiled on that little development when I picked up the game in 2010. Now that we're past the introduction of interrupts, I can tell you that in a few instances I do take Renegade interrupts even while playing Paragon. The only circumstances I do are when it's clearly pragmatic, not unduly mean-spirited, and they don't throw your Paragon/Renegade balance off very much at all.
@@LucyusMaximus Am thoroughly enjoying your play-through of my favorite game trilogy! Very fun to watch. You're in for a great ride as best in ME2 is yet to come imo
I'm very much looking forward to this playthrough...But I must say, I am even more excited to see your ME3 playthrough. Even though ME2 is the more popular game, for me, ME3 tugged at my heartstrings the most. I am a grown man, but ME3 had me crying at the end. Don't get me wrong, 1 and 2 were exhilarating. But there was something about ME3 that brought it all together and closed the book in a most epic way.
I thoroughly enjoy your 'first time playing' of ME1.2.3 Legendary edtiion...I played all three when they first came out, and a few times since then, and replaying the legendary edition now....a couple comments/advice....often/always talk to yeoman kelly chambers....seek cover often when in combat, you'll have to do it so often it will become second nature....I'm glad you take the time to look around the environment, for how good it often looks; and inside rooms and buildings....and that you usually exhaust the dialogue wheel on the left hand side...don't worry about selecting the 'paragon' or the 'renegade' responses...select what feels right to you...when a 'renegade' response feels right to you, take it...
It's entertaining seeing you play through this series. You've got quite the adventure ahead of you. I recommend leveling up your Assault Mastery fully as soon as possible.
Yeah, , in this case, Saren did not die thinking the Reapers would save him. Right should be right and it should be chroniclers should write that in his final moment, Saren did the only thing he he could to help fight the Reapers.
I've been waiting since about the early-mid point of ME1 to see your reaction to the prologue to ME2. Might be a cool idea to do a short companion video on your thoughts of the plot and major points at some point.
I always loved how distinct all the classes feel in this one. Even soldier has its own unique feel. Every time I start this game I have a real hard time not picking my favourite, Vanguard.
Talk about starting off with a BANG right?? XD Also Vanguard is dramatically more fun from ME2 onwards. And ME2-3 rely a lot more on using cover. Love watching your playthrough, your enthusiasm is delightful.
Joker can walk just fine, albeit with a limp. He's not immobile, but his bones are extremely brittle and can break very easily, so he has to be very careful when doing just about anything.
I was so excited for you to experience the absolute awesomeness of Charge 😁 I was crossing my fingers that you'd stick with Vanguard. It's so much fun.
Remember this: In ME2 and ME3 you might gain a new squadmate mid mission. They will be unleveled with points to spend and will remain unlevelled unless you level them up during the mission or until you start a new mission with them (which might or might not happen). A sign of a squaddie being unleveled is that it only have a SINGLE power available. Also some things in the trilogy operates on hidden time limit. It can most often be gauged by asking yourself: -"If this was real, should I hurry doing this or not?"
@@LucyusMaximus I won't ruin anything story wise, just know triangle on the controller is your best friend (charge). Along with your shotgun with incindiery ammo maxed out, you can pretty much beat the game on the most difficult setting using this combo. Also d-pad left and right are quickmap buttons to use your squad powers, just make sure they're mapped under the R2 weapon wheel menu. Powers won't work if you're not targeting an enemy (sometimes its hard to see which enemy you're targeting in the heat of combat)
And here it is. The 🐐. It's going to be such a drastic improvement to the first game. It's still might be my favorite game of that generation tied only with BioShock and Portal 2. And the soundtracks. ❤️ And honestly might be one of the best introductions I've seen to a video game sequel.
@@LucyusMaximus oh yeah Bioshock is just an interesting experience. Makes for an interesting playthrough. I know I'd watch. But for now continue enjoying the journey it's only going to get better. ❤️
"That Voice Sounds Familiar" If you're a fan of movies that starred Martin Sheen, it should sound familiar, as it's Martin Sheen providing the voice for The Illusive Man Yvonne Strahovski is the voice for Miranda, in addition to having lending her physical appearance to the character

Assault Rifles can hammer all forms of defense equally as effectively, and while good overall they can't match the more specialized weapon roles (and I don't think Vanguards can use Assault Rifles either). However, that's just a general rule, specific weapons in the different categories may perform differently to the norm.
Thanks for the tips!
It is so fun watching a newbie play my favorite game series. It reignites my own fangirling! :) Glad you are liking it so far.
Yay, i'm so glad! Thanks for watching ☺
I'm Roar McRipHelmet, and this is my favourite Mass Effect 2 playthrough on the internet!
Why thank you!
It is still very interesting and engaging to see you rationalize your decisions in real-time, it cements your final choice in our collective minds by going thru the process with you! A pleasure as always... ✌️😚
Until your next mission... FLY ON COMMANDER! 🖖😎
Thank you very much! ☺
I was so excited waiting for you to watch the opening because I know what it felt like the first time I saw it and it was wonderful to watch your reactions! :)
Thank you! It was glorious
Glad you could be there! Definitely looking forward to exploring more now that i'm not in the shock of the beginning.
@@LucyusMaximus Seeing your reaction to the opening 2 hours was amazing. So much happens in such a short amount of time, can't wait for the next stream/video!
You're so fun. Really enjoy experience this all again from the perspective of an enthusiastic newbie!
Why thank you! Glad you're enjoying it 💙
I love that you took time to look at the ship when you could walk, some people miss the epic planet shot AND the movable chairs! lol.. I try to push one of the chairs into jokers area usually now lol.
I had to, I was stunned. It's the kind of shot you hope to get in a space epic.
it's truly amazing to see you experience this series for the first time, i wish i could do it again :')
some spoiler-free gameplay pointers:
- use squadmate powers a lot! when an enemy's health bar is blue, they have shields on, yellow means they have armor and purple means biotic barrier; different abilities will disable these and really ease things up for you, especially when fighting an enemy with several of these like the heavy mech.
Yay, hope you enjoy and thanks for the tips!
1:30 I have been waiting for this moment since like the second episode of the first mass effect. Back in may when I found out your cat is called Fenris!
Awesome! Poor Fenris 😂
I’m so excited! I’m pretty new to Mass Effect too and I just finished it a few weeks back. I was a vanguard as well so I know just what someone’s first biotic charge feels like. Mass Effect 2 is the best out of the trilogy imo. Excited to see this!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy the ride, thanks for watching! 💙
Oh, and also, The Paragon/Renegade Interrupts only flash on the screen for a couple of seconds (the Veetor one lasts a very long time because its part of the tutorial, but that's the only one that lasts long), so look for them during any conversations, and always be prepared to press the appropriate trigger VERY FAST, or else you'll miss them (and there are some which you DO NOT want to miss!...)
Anyway, very good start (almost great, but not quite, because you did miss a few things - mostly Credits and some back-story stuff) since you rushed a bit through the Freedom's Progress mission and weren't your usual thorough self - no worries; it's quite understandable, since it was you first mission and you were obviously very excited to get through it), and I can barely wait till your next ME2 mission!
See you then! 😃
Your play through made me want to replay this... Again😂😁 great to watch 😁 not to sound like Palpatine but we will watch your progress with great interest 😂😂😁
Do it! Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy the adventure!
This game has one of the best openings. I'm excited to watch your playthrough of it. There are so many surprises and tough decisions.
Thanks, hope you enjoy! ☺
Just marathoned through all the episodes I missed. I'm so hyped, ME2 really is a special game, theres nothing quite like it!
Woah, hope you're not too tired after that marathon! Thank you
ME2 is a fantastic game and i love the intro. Normandy destroyed and shepard dead, what a way to start the game!
What a shocker! 🥺
Love this intro. Goes right to 100 on the oh shit meter. Love your reaction, can’t wait to see more!
Thank you! ☺
the legend that is mass effect 2....so many hours i played this...and so many tears i shed...savour it all little Lady..!
I shall! 💙
@@LucyusMaximus remember...blue is the warmest colour...
Everything about this game is just timeless. The Suicide Mission OST still gets me everytime.
Thank you so much! ☺💙
Ooooooh boy! Been waiting for this one. Hope you love this game as much as the rest of us. It’s the gold standard.
It's here! Loving it so far, thanks! 😄
Glad you enjoyed! Gonna have to keep an eye out for those interrupts
Yeahhhhh I am so happy you play it. So excited how you like it. Let's goooooooo!
Whoooo!!!
I let out a very manly squeak when I saw this was uploaded :D Cant wait to see how you like it, have fun!
Yay! Thank you! 😄
Thanks!
Thank you so much! ❤
@@LucyusMaximus Am thoroughly enjoying your play-through of my favorite game trilogy! Very fun to watch. You're in for a great ride as best in ME2 is yet to come imo
I loved this game cant wait to see more.
Thank you!
Thank you! I'm already excited for ME3, so much to look forward to 🥰
Watched the entire video, so many feelings, this game gets me so emotional.
All the feels! Thanks for watching
You are in for a ride this was my introduction to the series and it changed everything afterwards
So excited for the rest!
Hey Luce me and the wife had our snacks ready and enjoyed your playthrough :)
Yay hope you both enjoy! 😄
@@LucyusMaximus We absolutely did :) The wife did question your casual choice though lol :P
Thanks for watching!
It's entertaining seeing you play through this series. You've got quite the adventure ahead of you. I recommend leveling up your Assault Mastery fully as soon as possible.
Glad you're enjoying, thanks for watching! ☺
Haven't even started the video and I'm already like yeah!!!
Yeeeees!! 😄
RIP Normandy...🤕
SR2 looks fire!
Rip to the original...
Yeah, , in this case, Saren did not die thinking the Reapers would save him. Right should be right and it should be chroniclers should write that in his final moment, Saren did the only thing he he could to help fight the Reapers.
Good to have you back!
Thank you! 🥰
I've been waiting since about the early-mid point of ME1 to see your reaction to the prologue to ME2. Might be a cool idea to do a short companion video on your thoughts of the plot and major points at some point.
It's here! Also, that's an interesting idea!
I can't wait! Going to go watch it on Twitch hahaha
Haha yiiiis! 😄
I always loved how distinct all the classes feel in this one. Even soldier has its own unique feel.
Every time I start this game I have a real hard time not picking my favourite, Vanguard.
Yeah they really fleshed them out more!
Talk about starting off with a BANG right?? XD Also Vanguard is dramatically more fun from ME2 onwards. And ME2-3 rely a lot more on using cover.
Love watching your playthrough, your enthusiasm is delightful.
No kidding! Yeah Vanguard is going to be fuuun
Joker can walk just fine, albeit with a limp. He's not immobile, but his bones are extremely brittle and can break very easily, so he has to be very careful when doing just about anything.
Yeah it was just a surprise to see him walking for the first time! 😄
How Illusive Man acquired his glowing eyes is revealed in the Mass Effect comics.
I was so excited for you to experience the absolute awesomeness of Charge 😁 I was crossing my fingers that you'd stick with Vanguard. It's so much fun.
I was not expecting that! Sooo fun
An opening that very clearly says "We are not messing around."
No they are not!
Remember this:
In ME2 and ME3 you might gain a new squadmate mid mission.
Miranda is voiced by Yvhonne Stahovski, Australian actress. So you are right, Australian! The Illusive Man is Martin Sheen ;)
Martin Sheen is great
@@LucyusMaximus Yes, indeed!
Goosebumps and boops! Amazing!
Been waiting for this!
ME2 has arrived!! 😄
Can't wait to watch a full playthrough of ME2 (the best one). Tip: really practice that biotic charge, the Vanguard specialty.
You know it! Thank you
And here it is.
The 🐐.
It's going to be such a drastic improvement to the first game. It's still might be my favorite game of that generation tied only with BioShock and Portal 2.
And the soundtracks. ❤️
And honestly might be one of the best introductions I've seen to a video game sequel.
It really is! 🤩
Can't wait to play Bioshock someday...
@@LucyusMaximus oh yeah Bioshock is just an interesting experience. Makes for an interesting playthrough. I know I'd watch. But for now continue enjoying the journey it's only going to get better. ❤️
Love this game so much I am so happy that you are playing this Hope you have a safe 2021
Thank you!!
"That Voice Sounds Familiar"
If you're a fan of movies that starred Martin Sheen, it should sound familiar, as it's Martin Sheen providing the voice for The Illusive Man
Yvonne Strahovski is the voice for Miranda, in addition to having lending her physical appearance to the character
Let’s get this party started
I got myself some Oreos and Mountain Dew!!!!! I am ready to watch this live:)
So ready to get down!!
"I'm so ready"
Yeah, you're not ready!
Ha! Probably not
LucyusMaximus: "I like Jacob"
Me: "Really? Well... that's a first"
Jokes aside, great trilogy and great sequel to the first game. A lot of improvements too. Waiting for the next playthrough. This is going to be a wild ride.
I'm ready for it!
