I've been that annoying guy who hangs out with the band and talks and asks questions at the merch table at a few shows. They--especially Satomi--recognized me instantly the second time, even though it had been like 2 years. They are such genuinely good and beautiful people, especially Greg. We talked about Gershwin, and he was actually into the conversation, not just "smile & nod". And, hey, let's be honest. They really are the best band in the world.
Yes, yes they are.
I've seen them lots of times & yes they are so humble, Greg recognizes & sometimes approaches me! They work their own merchandise table - one time Satomi was behind the merch table drawing unique Deerhoof T-shirts for sale - I had to get one.
@@kenny832 Sounds like something she would do!! She's SO cool.
The y are! And I did the same. I talked with John and Greg . They are such nice persons
@Ole Ericson-Scaruss Definitely seems like something he would do! That's a great story. :)
Even with his ticks, he has such a beautiful way of articulating himself - wise and thought-provoking.
even with your glasses on i can see your eyes
They are adorable people who make mind-bogglingly satisfying music. They’re on my own personal top five, i dunno about anyone else.
I agree. Anything new out??
he is so brilliant
He really is. I love hearing him talk.
Covid isn't over 'till I'm freaking out to my favourite live band, Deerhoof, in a tiny sweaty venue!
I love Greg SO much. Such a humble, positive voice
Deerhoofs 2017 album is such an incredibly perfect and eclectic mix of just about everything I love in music. Classical interlude, radical protest, jamming riffs. Mountain Moves has it all.
Actually You Can really hooked me
@@6V6band Yea, I was just giving an example but Their two latest albums have grown on me exponentially since I posted that comment. I am super excited for the upcoming one
1:16 Reminds me of a passage from Adorno and Horkeimer's Dialectic of Enlightenment, something to the effect of "art is the negation is form."
Well sure, everyone knows that 😋
Greg is one of my favorite drummers
Loose as a goose
Raw flow
How about loose as a mongoose, and strong as Magilla Gorilla.
This band is so humble and about the music and the show they put on is magical. i havent had conversations in person but have requested to and covered their music, and they were so supportive and lovely. SO MUCH FUN! thats what its about
I adore Greg so much.
This guy’s got Glenn Gould energy.
I like that.
Excellent comparison
Finally I found a video with no dislikes:)
wow you're right. Ima fix that buahahha. jk. Only 68 views tho, which is fine.
This song really helped me through a hard patch in my life
There is no avoiding form, but as long as it’s only used as a guideline, it doesn’t hurt. The form doesn’t have to be a proscription
Thanks Greg.
Rolling Stone mug... LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. I have this (tongue in cheek) theory on Mick... People revere Dillon's lyrics because the music is nearly unlistenable. People overlook Mick's lyrics because the music is soo good. Wrong time capsule is brilliant!
So happy to have seen them in tiny venues way back!!! It may be a bit pompous but I feel like they had a genuine new flavour, and vision. In the Apple O, and Milk Man years I felt a strong Beatles vibe, and I love them for that. They matched ballsy rock hooks with enigmatic lyricism and style. It was a complete package, and they did it in an unironic way. Nothing against the bands from the last 5 years, but merely being "retro" isn't enough.
Just goes to show being your own weird self can sustain a career! BE YOU!!!!!!
now that he cleared that one up.
deerhoof rocks
Pitchfork think Deerhoof is the best band in the world. I do also as I've seen them many times & they never fail to astound.
Okay it seems like he has Tourette's or a few ticks here, but when I talked to him after a show, I didn't notice anything like that. I mean, it's been like 10 years but I feel like I would've remembered. Anyway, I don't notice anyone mentioning it ever which I guess means everyone is more tactful and respectful than I am. But anyway, I hope he's doing well, obviously
It seems that and also obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Buy hey we all have some odd habits...
Yeah it def seems more severe then in the past. Might just be the setting or something. Anyways, one of my favorite drummers of all time
I've thought about this a couple times and I keep coming to the conclusion that COVID era played a factor
I truly believe Deerhoof is the best band in the universe
And that is why they have song called Galaxist😎.
deerhoof are my favourite band. (i wouldnt say the best because that implies some objective criteria which is stupid.)
i think they are a cult band so maybe one or two critics will champion them. but in general it takes a long time to appreciate a new album by them, maybe even 5 years, of paying close attention and relistens. so most reviews of their newer albums are essentially just saying "4/5 it's the new deerhoof album". they won't give 5/5 because you dont listen to their new album for a week and say it's as good as milk man. but 10 years later you might come to believe that the magic or breakup song are as good as friend opportunity.
even i feel that way with them as my favourite band, i would find it hard to review a new album of theirs to a deadline. so for a critic who needs to review 3 other albums that week, it's understandable that they say "new deerhoof album 4/5"
greg is the best
This guy is living proof that you can't OD on LSD
Cast him as the next joker
He's really trying to swat that fly. Poor guy.
