Was overjoyed when that over the air 'Decades' channel had episodes for binge-watching in the summertime. This cool yet energetic theme song helped augment the aura of this series.
Commercials(almost 60 seconds--they can't pass that up) and with the way they do it nowadays, the credits would be shown at the bottom of the screen during the last seconds of the episode or the squeezed credits, depending on the network that airs the show.
The original hour-long shows were re-cut to 30 minutes for syndication, so the end title was shortened, too, because they had only half as many credits to cover. This long version eliminates an abrupt music edit in the shorter credits.
In the syndicated package, shows do get sorted by season. If the theme is the same throughout a series, then it usually gets done that way, but it all depends on the producer. In this case, Paramount didn't mess with the product. Thank goodness Universal didn't have a hand in this; it would have been terrible.
The full 50 second version was only used in the first season. At the beginning of the 2nd season the show was cut back to a half hour, and the end credits were shortened. At midseason ABC expanded the show back to an hour but the shorter end credits stayed for the remainder of the run. The 1st season with the horns was the best IMO. The shorter version sounds awful and unprofessional with the abrupt edit.
Great show and theme song.
So cool!

Why wasn't the full ending used on all of the syndicated series?

Personally, I actually like the shorter ending better on this show.
