This was fun to listen to. For me the length of a series depends on the length of the books within. I'm not gonna read a 15 book series where each one is like 20 hours long (can tell I'm an audiobook guy right?) but if they're all like 4 hours I'll probably read that. I can't think of a book that I hate which everyone else loves but, and I'll regret saying this, I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about Mistborn. I LOVED the magic system. Couldn't get enough of it but the characters were not to my liking for the most part and I had some issues with the overall plot. Considering I've had multiple Sanderson fans tell me "If you don't like Mistborn don't bother" it hasn't exactly given me a burning desire to dive into something like Stormlight. I'm not saying he's bad and I'm glad so many people get so much joy out of his work but so far it's not for me. I've never really got why people are so against dog earing. If it's a collectors edition or something then yeah I can understand but other than that? If I could still collect physical books I would have a pristine collection and a "handled all the time" section.

I would definitely recommend Elantris to you, since it's a stand-alone book (for now) but it's adult. I’m the same with sports. My boyfriend is a big hockey guy and I could read all day long while it’s on. I do get sucked into F1 racing though.
