Or you went Long through ct to go B but the apper got a Pick a through old bombtrain and you went A. All thes things you cant do on the new train. So yes it alot more simpler, might be good if only wanted train in mirrage version. But I wanted different playstyle like awp A main to Z. And the fact that rotation was fast for both CT and T, made Train and very fun map. But that map is now gone.
Honestly I like every change EXCEPT the removal of the 3rd train on A site. They removed a lot of the bs that made OG train annoying, such as the pop dog choke point, the weird heaven position and the overall jankiness of B site. However, The maneuverability and confusion created by the third train on A site is what made Train such a classic map

yeah, popdog was too much of a chokehold, but it was also cool to see new inventions to take control of it, but it seems that everything was figured out of it. Im not sad to see it go
I hate that they removed it... sure for silvers and matchmaking it was hell when you tried to control it or retake it, but on pro level this removes such an interesting piece of a map... I am sure pros hated it too, but they just had to deal with it being there so we got those T molly line ups through upper window and bounce off the wall to clear the whole pop dog... It was just so unique.
Train was always about ladders, hiding spots and long AWP angles, CS2 changes that - is it good? For competitive CS probably "yes". Even removing heaven (which was there in some place or the other in every version of this map so far) is probably beneficial for how game will be played on competitive level, because having that hard-to-get-hard-to-clear angle was always a bit awkward. And you gotta appreciate that Valve has got us another surfing spot on official map.
I don't think nerfing the difficulty in clearing angles is good for competitive play. heaven angle that was easy for people to hide in, was just one corner area, otherwise they would be spotted. I guess, better remove the entire section because some people hid there. Dumpster being removed I get......but this....this oversimplifies the map

Its quite intriguing what made Valve think it went from a Touchstone map to a Overhauled map. I love it tho. A grand way to bring back something familiar with something fresh about it.
I wished that with CS2 release, every map would be overhauled. Especially Mirage- every other map changed but if you download CSGO 2014 its still the same looking map.
nothing about this map is familiar. every single part of the map plays completely fucking differently. it looks somewhat the same but the core gameplay of train is night and day
Does it though? The main feature of 1.6 train was many hiding spots (e.g. under the trains) and long angles for AWPers - in those two terms it makes 1.6 and CS:GO versions more similar.
It's subtle, but one of my favorite parts about this remake is how colorful the minimap is. It makes it way easier to make and understand callouts, especially for new players who aren't familiar with old Train.

I found a nice little easter egg, when you go to B long, the passage way which is blocked now with a little control cabin/room etc, if you noclip inside it, you can see a picture of the old train in CS 1.6 and a small TV, which displays different areas of the map from 1.6. Pretty cool easter egg tbh.
Train always was a cluttered/complex map for the eyes and it still is, but they still did a great job. I like that big ramp isn't as open anymore and pop dog always was the major issue of the map and they had a great idea how to fix it. Only negative thing is that the map is kinda dark, haven't played a match yet but I expect that sometimes enemies are harder to spot.
First time playing it felt awesome, there is still some brain memory, even tho its been so long and its CS2 now. I do feel like its bigger, more open, expecialy B site. Mid is quite open too , but i do like how it plays, lots of gunfights are long range, and you have lots of options to play on both sides, hopefully it gets into premier soon.
Idk about that ivy-olof changes man, I think it just narrows down the game flow, used to be high-risk/reward play to dance around in there for both teams.
I'll be honest, there are some changes they made that I don't understand, but the vast majority of the changed i think are genius. The way ivy and the CT tunnel on that side is redesigned is REALLY well done

On the dumpster by where the pigeons were, there's a graffiti that says "Respect the pigeons", and there's a couple of TVs/Monitors around the map (I know at least 2) that show 1.6 train and there's also a picture of 1.6 train on the board in showers.
I’ll be honest A site leaves much to be desired. It feels like a half painted canvas. They removed like 60% of the trains, barricades and ladders and left it with empty space. I’m sure this is by design, and its minimalist look on the new source engine looks great but I’m not convinced it will play well long term. Feels like they made an aim map. Wingman will feel like one of those AWPer 1v1 community maps on A site.
train was the perfect map. no matter what kind of player you were, you had a way of approaching fights in a way thst most fits you, you could play at your terms and if you were ahle to play really well in many different ways, you could solo hard stomp games without a problem.
@NEUNELFER911 pros wouldn't agree with you, and neither would the hardcore playerbase. you have plenty of interviews with pros, asking them what they want to get reintroduced into the pro pool or what is their favorite map or what map they arenmissing or they were asked to rank all the maps, nd train is always amongst the top maps.

The playerbase is mostly not that, train was always avoided, I'm playing since 2014 and that's how I always was feeling. That's once again a try to make it more similar to other maps. Yes, I agree that I was exaggerating when I said nobody likes it.

CS:GO has very low-quality textures, so they have to make the game's graphics sharp and blackish. In my opinion, CS:GO graphics are like a low-quality bodycam video, and CS2 graphics are like a 4K cinematic film.
I've been playing CS for over 10 years and have only played Train a handful of times because of, well, all those trains lol. Just too many parallel paths and verticality for me. Didn't think this remake would get me excited to play Train but this looks good!
That visual effect with the rain drops is simply gorgeous! They butchered the map, but the visuals are great and from the 3 games played so far it plays really well. Waaaay too soon to say if the new layout balances the map enough. In A main there’s a cheeky window gap from where you can smoke pop dog or site or electric and also flash either the site side or bounce it on red train to flash left of red train side.
Go inside the building on B with two unopenable doors. There's a TV showing footage of the old train. There's another TV with the same footage on a different part of the map as well.
Agreed. I think devs simply don't do it because of Agent skins. There's no black, everything is grey & blurry so the agents pop out. I like the look of new Cache but we may have people complain on it too

Very exciting actually, just looking at the video this maps me excited. I really like the way B site was handled, heaven sucked to push and yellow train in the middle added a bit of clutter. A site is debatable and I would have to play it for some hours to really feel that one out. Old train will be missed but new train looks like it will be welcomed.
honestly wasn't expecting such a big change, and i do like it for the most part but it does feel like some of the charm of old train has been sacrificed for the sake of more competitive viability. but hey if it means vertigo or dust 2 are back on the chopping block then i can't complain too much
as a map new train looks cool, they removed A LOT of ladders that were used to make plays and IMO completely ruined the tactical aspect of train. so basically ruined the map for me...
Theres a portal easter egg in one of the side rooms in banana. It references statistics for Aperture science vs V-Corp (probably related to the in universe "V shipping" in cs)
Interesting to see less long range angles. Train was often a map where CT buy 2 or more AWPs and really dominate the long angles. Now you have less angels to play from because of the blocked sight and less objects. Will be interesting how the map plays out. I already can see Cts pushing pop dog every round because you have a massive timing advantage now.
I played the map when it came out, went pop dog as ct every round, and got a minimum of 2 if they went B. The timing's are kinda messed up, people were getting caught off guard. We will adjust to it soon tho
Not gonna lie, train has always been my favorite map for flexibility it offered to go behind the trains, hide and catch the enemies off guard. But now…
Are you able to make a video comparing rush timings for each contact point with best spawns? There should be a way to make bots move according to demo. It would be a very informative video and hugely popular now that the map is new and you already have a solid foundation of viewers. To clarify, I mean a video showcasing how far a CT can push into popdog vs how far a T can push popdog before they meet each other. Ie. where to expect first contact at earliest timings, ignoring runboosts and bhops.
I loved the lurker friendly nature of train before so this has made me quite sad. While I do understand that this change should make it way better for pro play, the overall messy fun that could have been had in matchmaking will almost disappear :(
I never played Train before (started playing with CS2). Map looks nice but confusing to manouver at first glance. The update seems great, but i would have wished for new premier map to learn

Feels great to have the pop dog leather removed. It will be even more contested now and in gerneral the map has less tight corridors. Thats a huge reason why I never enjoyed the map in CSGO
The rain effect on weapons, gloves and the agent models was so cool to witness for the first time.

I like all the changes, I think it could transform this map from being a niche to being an overall well balanced and highly competitive map

In A main there’s a cheeky window gap from where you can smoke pop dog or site or electric and also flash either the site side or bounce it on red train to flash left of red train side.

Agreed. I think devs simply don't do it because of Agent skins. There's no black, everything is grey & blurry so the agents pop out.

Very exciting actually, just looking at the video this maps me excited. I really like the way B site was handled, heaven sucked to push and yellow train in the middle added a bit of clutter. A site is debatable and I would have to play it for some hours to really feel that one out. Old train will be missed but new train looks like it will be welcomed.

honestly wasn't expecting such a big change, and i do like it for the most part but it does feel like some of the charm of old train has been sacrificed for the sake of more competitive viability. but hey if it means vertigo or dust 2 are back on the chopping block then i can't complain too much
as a map new train looks cool, they removed A LOT of ladders that were used to make plays and IMO completely ruined the tactical aspect of train. so basically ruined the map for me...

Theres a portal easter egg in one of the side rooms in banana. It references statistics for Aperture science vs V-Corp (probably related to the in universe "V shipping" in cs)

Interesting to see less long range angles. Train was often a map where CT buy 2 or more AWPs and really dominate the long angles. Now you have less angels to play from because of the blocked sight and less objects. Will be interesting how the map plays out. I already can see Cts pushing pop dog every round because you have a massive timing advantage now.
I played the map when it came out, went pop dog as ct every round, and got a minimum of 2 if they went B. The timing's are kinda messed up, people were getting caught off guard. We will adjust to it soon tho
Not gonna lie, train has always been my favorite map for flexibility it offered to go behind the trains, hide and catch the enemies off guard. But now…

Going inside some of the rooms with noclip, you can see a monitor that has images of the cs1.6 version of train

Are you able to make a video comparing rush timings for each contact point with best spawns? There should be a way to make bots move according to demo. It would be a very informative video and hugely popular now that the map is new and you already have a solid foundation of viewers.
To clarify, I mean a video showcasing how far a CT can push into popdog vs how far a T can push popdog before they meet each other. Ie. where to expect first contact at earliest timings, ignoring runboosts and bhops.

I loved the lurker friendly nature of train before so this has made me quite sad. While I do understand that this change should make it way better for pro play, the overall messy fun that could have been had in matchmaking will almost disappear :(

Map looks nice but confusing to manouver at first glance.

Feels great to have the pop dog leather removed. It will be even more contested now and in gerneral the map has less tight corridors. Thats a huge reason why I never enjoyed the map in CSGO
