I was a store manager for an auto parts store. I'm hoping I can sell the fact that between dealing with the public, diffusing situations, and being responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and inventory, I'm an asset even if I wasn't infantry when I was in the military. As far as books idk I studied english lit in college lol. I can recite the St. Crispins Day speech on command haha

I commend you for what you are doing in the industry. You are re-establishing the "Word of mouth" network where you find only the top tier of security professionals. This is definitive leverage against those low-balling EP companies who don't differentiate pay between Joe Security Guard and experienced protectors.
I've been in law enforcement for the past 27 years in the Dallas area and am looking to retire and transition to work in EP. Any tips on getting myself known to EP companies since I haven't taken any EP courses, other than doing EP details through my job for various celebrities at certain events.

Spot on Byron. It's highly competitive, so guys and gals bring your A game, especially getting on with a corporate team. And like Bryon said just because you were a SEAL or SF in the military doesn't mean you can "plug and play" so to speak. My team especially is shying way from those types because they often have a hard time adapting to the soft skills aspect of the industry.
Am a Nigeria anf currently a close protection officer with up to 8 years experience and presently attach to a prominent man in Nigeria.I will love to upgrade by working with clients overseas.
Not sure if it’s too late to get into this line of work but I’m 34 years old and live in NC. I’ve done unarmed security for 10+ years, I have my concealed carry permit, Personal Trainer, CPR and AED certification and I’ve been training Jiu Jitsu for 2 1/2 years (A little Muay Thai & Wrestling training within those 2 1/2 years as well). If it’s not too late, what would you advise I do to get started. Any advice would be appreciated.
Brother is definitely not too late! I myself am only 38 and I started when I was 21. we’ve gotten people into the game in their 60s because they were willing to do what it takes and they took care of themselves. Come train with us and as long as you’re a good person who invest in themselves, we will make it happen. We’ve done this for hundreds of agents. epspecialist.com. Let’s go. 🙏👊⚡️

Would being a league member be of benefit if I'm in the UK. I am in the process of getting my level 3 sia in close protection I think this is the equivalent of what you teach except for the weapons training. It's the networking and all your other tips that have got me interested.

That’s the question, the answer is no. Many professionals do this work internationally and domestically unarmed. I personally do not prefer it but also I’m not always armed either especially internationally so we have other ways we get things done, and get around the problem and or implement Firearms into the equation. But to answer your question, you do not have to be armed, and many professionals are not armed in various situations.
