To be fair, I wouldn't include cities like Seville or Naples in this list, simply because Seville and Naples are among the most important cities of Europe. They are not "hidden gems".
Thank you for your feedback! Thanks for watching the video!
Exactly my thoughts! Instead Krakow/Poland should be on this list.
Same thing for Ghent.
@scotchgod8478 what is hidden with Krakow? It is among Europe's tourist hot spots.
Many good ideas for travelling, but I agree too that Naples and Seville are so wellknown that it’s a surprise to be listed here !
I’m French but Wrocław is my favorite city in Europe. Such a lovely soul and atmosphere.
Thank you for your comment! True. Wroclaw is a special and beautiful city.
Breslau. It is german.
@@user-lz8nu1yh8y It WAS German but mostly Czech city in the past. Now it's a Polish city forever.
@@urojerry just not true. Nobody spoke czech in there. I heard this lie among Poles from Breslau lots of times.
@@urojerry my father arrived in Breslau in 1945 as a refugee from East-Poland, nowadays called Belarus. He always refused to accept it as his home. All of his family always kept saying that this is german land. His grandparents were from Lwow, a polish city!
As an Italian living in Italy, I can say that Naples has become a very touristic city in the last years, so it isn’t underrated anymore. Turin is definitely more underrated than Naples (between foreign tourists)
Thanks for your feedback and for watching the video!
Our Europe is the best place on earth😊
Thank you for your comment! True.😊 Europe is full of amazing places.
I live in Ljubljana, a city between Trieste and Graz. I adore Europe hidden paths. I need to visit many gorgeus towns...Thanks for the great video ❤
Thank you! ❤️ You live in a really beautiful city.
It's not just a city between Trieste and Graz, but also the capital of 🇸🇮
I will be in your beautiful city in may!
Have you been to Piran? It looks nice
@@ChrisW_Essex Yes, Piran is beauteful.
Great choices.
I would add Tallinn, Münster, Speyer, Belfast.
Thank you! All of those would be good options for the list.
Graz was a surprise , I thought that since Austrian automobile manufacturer Magna Steyr and other heavy industry is located there, I assumed it was mostly an industrial city. It's actually really beautiful .😊
Yes, Graz is really beautiful. 😊
Europe is beautiful. Lost of old architecture
Seville is truly a well known much visited city. You should have Zaragoza or Valladolid on the list instead. Both beautiful cities, but hardly on the tourist map. I mean Zaragoza is between Barcelona and Madrid but no one gets off the train to explore everything it has to offer.
Thank you for your feedback. You're right, Seville is better known than the others on the list. It was a difficult choice whether to include it in this list at all. That's why it's number 16 and not number 1.
Thanks for the good tips about Zaragoza and Valladolid.
Thumbs up for Zaragoza, i've visited it last November and it's definitely underrated and absolutely worth for a stop with the train. I spent one night there, the cathedral is fantastic, take a walk to the view tower.
@@simpsonsfreakable Glad you liked it. I love living here as there's so much to see and do beyond the touristy places and life is at a quieter pace than Madrid. I do though love spending weekends in Madrid with family every now and then.
I do, I stop in Zaragoza because I’m living there 🤣🤣
@@simpsonsfreakablethank you! Is my birth place
Granada (Spain) is also really underrated. For me, as a spaniard that has travelled around all of Spain, Granada is my favourite city in the country, much better than Barcelona or Madrid for example.
Thank you for your comment and valuable information!
The Alhambra in Granada is the most visited place in spain even more visited than la Sagrada familia in Barcelona
@@didierbaudotbut how many of those visitors will see anything of Granada?
I stayed in Granada for several days autumn 2019, but apart from Alhambra and Carrera del darro you couldn’t tell there was a touristic hotspot just a short walk away.
Apart from Alhambra - I loved the markets. Took a day trip to Rhonda from there.
Very good choices. Several of the mentioned cities belong to my favorites, too - like Graz, Bern, Thessaloniki, Ljubljana and Trieste. What about a Dutch city such as Leiden or Den Bosch?
Just with Seville I feel that it does not quite fit on a list of „underrated“ cities because it is actually world-famous for some of its buildings, its flamenco shows and allure and, thus, attracts around 2 million tourists annually. There are less famous cities in Spain that are stunning, for instance Bilbao, Cuenca or Salamanca.
But overall an inspiring video!
Thank you! You're right Seville isn't as underrated as many other cities, but it's still a bit underrated considering how amazing it is. True, all the cities you mentioned would be good options for the list.
Good choice Aarhus. I lived about 20km away from this city in the 1980s, would often go there on weekends. Wow, it has really developed. Looks awesome.
Glad to hear you've been there many times.
Thank you for your wonderful sharing 👍 Have a nice weekend 🤩
Thank you for your comment! 😊Thanks for watching the video! Have a nice week! 😊
Good video, thanks for the timestamps.
Excellent video. Great job!!!!! Keep it up
Thank you very much! 😊👍
Nice!! Very well done, pleasure to watch and learn! Thanks for sharing! [Greetings from Tucson]
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it!
As a Brit, I think Belgium is one of my favourite countries in Europe. It is often overlooked but it is an architectural wonder! Gent is probably my favourite city. I also like Ieper not just because of all the significant history for Britain (First World War) but because it is a lovely city with nice bars and restaurants. Nice people too the Belgians.
All 17 are wonderful cities 😍
Indeed, they are! Thank you for your comment! 😊
I want to add beautiful Brügge
At least learn to pronounce the city of Lecce correctly.
🤓👆💩💩
Let's say......Leche
And all the other ones. She pronounced everything just as if all these names were truly American English words. "Gravensteen" was hilarious, pronounced as "Kreevenstien", and "Graslei" pronounced as "Krezlie".
So far I have only been to Wrocław,Gdańsk and Dresden but I liked each of these cites very much. For me, Wrocław has the most beatiful railway station in What I liked most about was the city panorama and Zwinger.I have to visit this city again to see it at night.I'll be in Graz in a few months. After my visit to Austria last year I fell in love with this country
Thank you for your comment! Thanks for sharing! Wroclaw is beautiful and so is Graz!
Gdansk is well worth a visit with trips to Sopot and Malbork.
Wow, I was amazed at how much information I found out in such a short time!
Glad it was helpful! 😊 Thank you for your comment!
Fantastic video! I love Ghent, Aarhus and Bratislava so I am sure I'd really like all the others in your list as well. My own personal additions would be Tallinn, Leiden and Norwich - three cities I fell in love with when visiting and could easily see myself living in!
Thank you! Thank you for your comment! All those places are great options!
Very interesting video. Would love to visit some of these places.
Thank you for your comment! Glad you enjoyed.
The Netherlands has (besides the touristy Amsterdam) also more very nice cities. The Hague and Utrecht are beautiful cities with nice historical buildings. And if you are more into very modern cities, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. Both very nice modern cities with a vibrant and international city vibe.
Great destinations!❤
Thank you for your comment! 😊
I would add for sure the most underrated and the real italian hidden gem - TURIN! For everyone who loves mountains, hills, lakes, advantures, rich culture, delicious food and really good wines; the home of Lavazza, Nutella, Martini, Grissini, Barolo, spumante Asti, truffles of Alba and many many other things famous all over the world but without knowing the "place of birth" of all those products! Not overcrowded, with nice people and million places to visit and to explore, Turin has it all!!! ❤
ive been to several of these cities, and a bunch more are on my "to see very soon" list. But worth the watch were the rest that i hadnt considered visiting. I live in Italy now, and can say that there are any number of beautifuland interesting places off the mass tourist trail... Thanks fpr the vid.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your comment and for watching the video!
Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Thank you! ❤️
Sevilla is my favorite city in the world. I've been to Spain four times. Sevilla is always a highlight. It is a more manageable size than Madrid, and looks just like the Spain of your fantasy. My only advice, avoid going in summer. It's quite hot from June until September. My second favorite Spanish city is Alicante, with its great waterfront.
I love Seville - go in the spring or autumn. Far too hot in the summer. Go on a day trip from there to Cordoba or Cadiz by train.
Thanks for sharing! Thanks for watching the video!
Thank you for your comment!
I was in Seville on May last year for my birthday and we had 37 degrees😅 It's crazy
I,m Spanish but this is too much even for us 😂😂😂
how is Seville NOT on tourists map??? It is absolutely gorgeous
True! Seville is amazingly beautiful.👍
Thank you for your comment! 😊
Beautiful city my friend
Yes, they are all really beautiful cities. Thanks for the comment and for watching the video! 😊
Well made but missed TALLINN ESTONIA 🇪🇪
Thanks and greetings from Graz!
Thank you too! 😊
Been to 8....And very much want to do 5 more of these 17
Nice to hear that you have been able to visit these cities! 😊 Thank you for your comment!
Definitely want to learn more about this area😊
I wouldn't call it an area. The distances covered between the cities in this video would be like saying San Antonio is in the same 'area' as Boston or Orlando.
Thank you for your comment! 😊
Visited almost every city mentioned. Expect those in Poland and Denmark. This year Denmark is on the list 😍
Glad to hear you've been to almost all of these places! 😊Thank you for your comment!
Vilnius is really really nice!
Yes indeed, Vilnius is great!
“Letzay” 😂
Been to many of those cities (and lived 25 years in one) and this is a solid list.
Thank you for your comment! Thanks for watching the video!
Coimbra, Sevilla, Aarhus, Ghant, and Naples are my favorites cities.
Thanks for sharing! Thanks for watching the video!
I would add Antwerp, Siena, Avignon, Arles, St. Malo, Rouen, Bergen 🙂
Thank you for your comment! Yes indeed. Those would all be good options.
I'vw been to 13 of these cites and you are right.
Wow. Glad to hear you've been to so many of these places.
I must be severely underrated having been to 15 out of these 17 cities!
I only did 13. 😅
In my opinion i would also choose Edinburgh, Aberdeen, bath and warsaw
Thank you for your comment! All those places are also good options!
Warsaw was voted #1 Best European Travel Destination in 2023, so it is not underrated. You can't be MORE than #1!!
Edinburgh? It’s not underrated. It’s full of tourists, at least last time I was there.
14: Gang doch e Chli där Aare na, därra schöene, schöene, grüene Aare na!
Very good list with less visited cities in Europe, Dresden however is touristic especially between april and October, in the winter there are not many tourists because they go to warmer places than Dresden , my favorite city is Hamburg there are relative much tourists there but not enough to my opinion for what Hamburg has to offer. Thank you for the inspiration for new citytrips 🙂
Thank you! 😊 Thank you for the feedback!
I like the concept of looking at lesser known cities. However, there are probably hundreds of lovely cities off the beaten path in Europe so making a selection is a nearly impossible task. I have a list of some 50 in Germany alone... 🙂
Thank you for your comment! You are right. Europe is full of amazing places. Choices always largely depend on personal preferences. 😊
Switzerland left me hungry for more and wish I had gone to Bern. The truth said you can never see enough and if I had 3 months of leisure time and money I would travel from Portugal all the way through the rest of Europe . That may be a dream but to be able to see so many different cities in Europe is a dream come true . The Eurorail is the way to go
Thank you for your comment! True. It always feels like you can never see enough. Europe is full of amazing places.
We were in Bern just a couple of hours 😅 We were on our way to Geneve to take the train to Lyon where we had the hotel. I wish I had more time to visit Bern
2 places I’ve been intrigued to go (off piste) is Piran in Slovenia and Eze in France can anyone relate or has anyone been to these places?
It IS also a matter of Beauty and avaiability to get to some cities like i would vlearly Spende Money to get to a City rome Paris or Barcelona but Not If ITS far away to a City Like Gdansk or Brno.
Take me there...
Thank you watching the video!
Ghent, Ljubliana and Dresden are pretty touristic. Is Naples ?
Even as a European, I discovered some interesting hints here, such as Trieste. On the other hand some of these are not that much off the "beaten bath" but probably simply off the "Europe in 10 days"-path or jusst short off the victims of extreme overtourism. I actually live in Bern and I can assure you that we get a lot of tourists in the summer. I am also often in Thessaloniki because I have relatives there. It makes me wonder why Americans tend to go for cities so much. I find the real gems in small towns and villages. for example instead of Thessaloniki - which I find very loud and chaotic - why not go to Kavala. or when in Bern, explore the small historical towns around it such as Fribourg, Solothurn or Thun.
Thanks for your feedback and for watching the video!
Oh, Bratislava. Thank you, thats my city :)
You live in a beautiful city! Thanks for your comment and watching the video! 😊
that bratislava describe is funny. im slovak but that city is horrendous. literally nothing except weird castle and overpriced tourist traps in Stare mesto. for wine visit better places around bratislava, for folklore literally anything. if you like history, vienna, budapest, brno (btw, you would sipping beer or wine here, not coffee :D ) or even prague are much better options. and if you wanna great central europe city i agree with wroclaw, its amazing city with history, great cuisine, nature and unbelievable number of great places, pubs or coffee shops. great combination of history, nature, student life and modernity :)
Which city is shown in the first second of intro?
The first city in the intro is Bern
I've visited 12 of 17 but I miss Talinn on the list, but maybe it's not a underrated one 🤔😂...
Seville is truly amazing, but it's not for this list...
I would like to see here also Split, Plovdiv and many others
Thank you for your feedback and watching the video!
No hidden treasures in Holland, Ireland, the UK?
Thank you for your comment! There are several hidden gems also in Ireland, Holland and the UK. They were good options for this list as well.
None. That’s correct
I would add Genova (Italy) and Valencia (Spain)
Thank you for your comment! Both places could very well be on the list.
Kosice, Slovakia
I would add Bordeaux, Utrecht, Delft, Helsinki, Talinn, Lviv, Mostar, Prizren Kotor, Split, Lille, Glasgow, Valencia, Chester, Siena, Sighisoara, Ronda, Symi, Bled, Lucerne, Marienbad
Thank you for your comment! You are right. Those cities are all good options.
a bit difficult to go to Lviv right now....😢
some very good suggestions here but "Luzern" isn't exactly a hidden gem, it's where all the tourists go that have 1 day for Switzerland.
Where is Lubeck Germany? It is a beautiful city and well worth being on this list.
You are right. Lubeck is very beautiful and could well be on this list. That was one of the options. Thank you for your comment!
Can a warm breeze carry the scent of history?
Ghotic Torun, Poland
2:09 2:12
Valencia!!!
Thank you for the feedback. Valencia would also have been a good choice for this list.
I would have had Seville on the first ranked city list.
Thank you for your comment. Seville is truly amazing. 👍
You have to add Mantova in Italy
Thank you for your feedback. Thanks for watching the video!
Helsinki
Helsinki is awesome 👍
I would add Córdoba in Spain.
Thank you for your comment and watching the video! Cordoba would have been a good option for the list.
Lofoten in Norway usually are in these kind of videos, but not this one.
Thank you for the feedback! Thanks for watching the video!
how is Seville NOT on tourists map?
Thank you for your comment! Seville's exceptional beauty and distinctiveness aren't as widely appreciated and recognized as they should be. But of course its better known than the other cities on the list.
I was in Sevilla Spain 3 wks ago and it's definitely NOT a hidden gem. Where did you get your facts for this list?
Oradea, Romania, not many people know this city
Thank you for the feedback! Thanks for watching the video!
Seville underrated? There are plenty of tourists.
Seville 😂 a “hidden gem”.
A very great place but it’s by no means a hidden gem. Assuming this is aimed at Americans who aren’t aware a whole world exists outside of the US.
Why isnt Bergen there
Thank you for your comment! Bergen could very well have been on the list.
Thessaloniki was the worst city I have visited. It was polluted and smelled from the bay. Hotter than hell. Nothing to see. Horrible. The smell was horrible.
Leche (pronunciation)
Picture yourself in a boat on a river.
Coimbra is great although I'd add Braga and Évora
Thank you for your comment. Braga and Évora are also amazing!
0 french cities 😢
Torino is too underrated even by you
Thank you for the feedback! Thanks for watching the video!
Rotterdam is nice
Thank you for your comment! Thanks for watching the video!
not Let-say. It's lech-che, as your would pronounce that in English
Stay at home ! Too many tourists everywhere !
Thank you watching the video!
This terrific video would be even better if the narrator could properly pronounce the foreign words, including the city names. Mispronunciation perpetuates the pervasive impression that Americans are hopelessly unilingual. 😊
Thank you for the feedback! 😊Thanks for watching the video!
Ci vogliono 200 anni per visitare bene tutta l'Europa
Thank you for your comment!
Seville is not underrated at all !
It's pronounced Leche
Thanks for the feedback and for watching the video!
Sorry, but Graz is really not located the heart of Austria.
Thank you for the feedback! Thanks for watching the video!
3.14 conditoré ? haha, konditorei better ! you should get out more ! 😂 Great job otherwise
Thanks for your comment and for watching the video!
Overrated cities: Paris ....
It's like going into the land of the smaller Dollar (Canada). Your Phone, GPS and all the rest will not work. You can't make any travel, hotel or restaurant reservations, leave alone rental cars. Been there - done that - it's tedious because there is also a language and cultural barrier. You'll be treated by the authorities like an unwelcome invader. On top of that everyone will try to get as much money as you can tolerate out of you. Not worth the aggravation.
if that's your attitude, we're happy for you to stay at home, thank you very much.
I clicked on your video for some inspiration for my next trip, I was disappointed to hear a robotic voice, the cities you covered seem interesting though, any recommendations of the cities I could visit in Europe or Canada other than major famous cities we all know, I like history, clubs, fun and shopping🏰✈️🫶
Thank you for watching the video! Europe is full of places worth visiting. You can get more tips about Europe from other videos on our channel. For example, the French Riviera is always a good choice. Of course, it always depends on personal preferences.
The two most beautiful cities on this list are Gdańsk (Danzig) and Wrocław (Breslau). And to think that if it weren't for the stupidity of Hitler and the German Nazis, Poland would not have any city on this list. You have to appreciate how beautifully these cities have been restored, during the communist period they were gray and dirty, like the rest of the cities in Poland in this period.
