    Just finding this video now, after buying my granddaughter the Tele pack with 15G Frontman amp.
    I’ve been playing for just over 40 years and can not believe just how good this cheap little kit really is. When I first started you had to spend at least a few hundred for a decent guitar (no amp) that would actually stay in tune through an entire gig. I could definitely gig with this in a small venue with the amp mic’d up.
    Great playing and great video.

    This amp is underrated. Yea it's not very good at distorted sounds but it has great cleans and overdriven sounds, good for classic rock playing

    I keep one of the frontman 25r around in my amp collection because of the same reasons you demonstrated on this amp. What I really like is that you can get that old fender muddy tone from the old blues era. Seems so many amp makers forgot that it was the "technical" deficiencies of the older smaller amps that contained the magic. B.B. King was on an episode of Cosby one time. They remarked about his old amp. He said it was one he's had around for about 40 years...an old Tweed champ....with all it's great muddy tone. Thanks again Johan!

    • @JohanSegeborn

      Hi Sam, yeah those tones were pretty convincing

    • @guitareMTL
      @guitareMTL 6 років тому

      The 25r sounds good but doesn't feel right to me. I felt like it was too compressed and not enough "touch sensitive", even compare to the 15g or the 15r ( I've owned both). Anyone who felt the same with the 25r?

    Nice! I'm sure some people will be surprised, but not me. Years ago we bought a Fender starter pack for the kid, with a Squier Mini Strat & Frontman 10G amp. The boy never got into guitar, but I've played the hell outta that set up !! Perfect for noodling in the living room at low volume, tho the amp can get louder than expected for its size. Also play my acoustic & mandolin thru it.

    Last year I paid $249 for my Fender Tele and Fender Frontman 15G amplifier kit with Fender gig bag, Fender tuner, Fender 10 ft. guitar cable and Fender strap.
    The amp has great tone, for real! Surprise the Fender Squier Affinity Telecaster made in Indonesia is a very good guitar and I play it all the time. Sometimes I chose it over $1,899 Gibson SG HP and $1,199 Guild A-150 Savoy Hollow Body. I am not saying my Telecaster is better, I am saying I enjoy playing it more and I can get the tones I want.
    I have no need or desire to spend more money for a high end Telecaster as mine is absolutely without question good enough.
    I have to edit a week later and say I am playing my Gibson 2017 SG HP more these days and I prefer it in every way to my Tele. However, my Tele is still a great guitar and this is not a knock against it.
    I have realized that all guitars if you set them up properly they can give you the tones and playability that you want. athe hotter pups of my Gibson do make it more versatile. But don't forget pedals can make up an awful lot of that ground with any guitar. So can adjusting uor amps.

    • @JohanSegeborn
      @JohanSegeborn  6 років тому +3

      Yeah, this Tele sees a lot of playing time around here in competition with many more high end Guitars,

    • @PeterDad60
      @PeterDad60 6 років тому

      Johan, it's good that every once in a while we get more than our money's worth.
      I purchase inexpensive styles such as this Telecaster to see if I like the fit and feel of the instrument. Then if I do I go ahead and purchase a more high end version. But with this Telecaster there is no reason to spend more money as it's a very playable guitar with very good tone.
      I do that with a lot of things, purchase the inexpensive version and if it agrees with me over time, then I go ahead and purchase a more expensive version.

    • @PeterDad60
      @PeterDad60 6 років тому +1

      They still do! I purchased mine over at Sweetwater and I $249 paid cash. It's the string through the back version which is higher end than a basic Tele. Also it has a wood stripe down the back of the neck for stability. Can't go wrong for that kind of a deal.

    Beacuse of this video i found an old Made in Mexico Frontman 15 ( no reverb sadly ) same amp in a slightly differnt housing with a 8ohm out (from factory) and plugged into a Marshall half stack. We've ALL been lied all these years. keep the gain around 3 and crank the master volume and its WONDERFUL classic overdrive!!!
    i have to record this sound. You have the magic touch, keep proving that using what you have is far beyond the gear you can buy.

    A guy a work with had one of these Tele/Frontman combos siting in his garage. Told him I’d give him a couple hundred bucks for em both. Not that I need them, I have plenty. I just thought I’ll take that Tele and even if it doesn’t play good I can always Frankenstein it. Man oh man was I surprised. After a few minor adjustments (truss rod, saddle, new strings) I was shocked! The Tele plays absolutely amazing! And it sounds great as well. The amp is ok but I play it through and old Fender Rocktron Rampage and Blackstar JJN Signature 1/2 stack. Unbelievable sound. I’d say for the money this is a great deal. Again, the only thing I would say I’d let somebody you know set it up for you if you don’t know how. That being said, it’s not so expensive you can’t experiment with it. Overall, A GREAT DEAL!!!👍

    Got one of these last year, gave away the amp to a cousin that was learning but the guitar is stellar, especially for the price, the only thing I've done to it was change tuners and rounded the edges of the fretboard because it was pretty sharp, besides that I've done nothing and dont feel the need to, I've got a spare tele pickup that I have lying around that I'll probably put in there but even thats not a necessity, I get by with the stock one just fine and it doesn't stick out to me as a particularly terrible pickup
    Fret work is great, I have the action practically to the deck with not a buzz in sight.

      if you practice on low-end equipment and get a good sound out of it, guess what is gonna happen if you play on some high-end stuff? :D right! your gonna sound awsome.

    A good guitar player can make anything sound good. If you can't, you're not. Simple.
    Johan: were you more impressed by the Epiphone or this Squier player pack? What about the setup out of the box on each?

    • @JohanSegeborn
      @JohanSegeborn  6 років тому

      Thanks, the amps of the fender packs are much more impressive. Both guitars are great. The Tele didn’t even need a setup. Cheers

    Hey Johan, try modding the Frontman with a speaker out and feed it to one of your 4x12s, a friend of mine did that head mod and it sounds insane!

    I think the Affinity Squires are the best. I have a parchment/rosewood Squire Strat.. Made in Indonesia, I really like it. Dirt cheap $100.00 USD My cheap amp is an 1980s' Valvestate 8020, ($100.00) )

    I like it. Cool sound for the $. My only complaint is that I need 22 frets as I'm sure most others do. A youngster starting out mightn't, but I do. Great vid, as per, Johann !!

      It's a curly one, some do some don't. Still, it's not a lot of $ to fork out & if you mod it you could go really crazy and get another neck, he he.

    The frontman 15g sounds better when you remove the back panel and have it as an open back cabinet. And don't have the treble too high. Sounds a bit too much otherwise.
